    This is my personal opinion regarding relocation tours. I am sharing information to empower you to make the best decision that works for you! 😘 Update: Someone asked a question about how do you see a health professional or attorney on your own? Easy Peasy - Get a referral from the group and contact them directly. If you are sick are you going to go to a group to see a doctor, I don’t think so, you are going to contact them directly, this way you can talk about your personal healthcare needs. Being in a group relocation tour doesn’t not give you better access to professionals, you have the same access directly. I have direct contact for my attorney and all of my health professionals.

    Great advice, Mary. I would do a scouting trip exactly like you described. I’d prefer to steer my own ship. Looking forward to your detailed video, and thanks for this one.

    The tour was a great experience. The lasting friendships was great. But , we do need to come back and explore on our own.

    Thank you for your comparison. My husband and I would do a tour again if we had to do it again. It was very helpful to have someone that had experienced what we were looking at. Ours was very affordable and gave us an insight that we probably would not have gotten doing it ourselves. It’s not for everyone and many folk do private tours for those that don’t do group tours.

    I agree, at least for myself; I have been navigating through countries on my own for the past 5 years. I did look to see what was offered through the tours, but, to me, it seemed like money not well spent. Maybe it is okay for those who need hand holding, I'm not that person. I do like the idea of getting together with one or more others to tour various areas and to develop friendships. I have seen others offering to be your community, but, always money exchange to some degree was involved. I prefer a more organic connection, though I don't mind attending some planned events, but, the minute I feel it to be wrapped up in what financial gain you will get from being my friend, I'm out of there and sadly I have experienced that a lot over these past years in a number of facebook groups and people with channels on youtube. Thank you for this video and for letting me know, I am not the only one with similar thoughts about the vacation tours offered.

      I do agree with you that most tours are for folks that need hand holding. We have hosted meetups in our BWEIP community for women to meet and socialize. There are several that form organic connections and develop friendships from our meetups. All of our meetups are free and all the information we share does not have a cost to it. This is one of the things I love about my channel that I can freely share information to anyone who finds it useful. Thanks for watching!

      @@Marysseasonedexpatlife, I joined your FB group the minute you mentioned having one. 🥰. I don't mind when folks are in the business of making money, I do mind when they use making friends as a guise. I am not referring to you and people such as you in any way, you seem to be the real deal which is why I am happy to be here. I am loving your style and your videos in general.

    Hi Mary! You are so right, in my opinion. I've been researching for a couple of weeks now, have listened to many expats on the does/don'ts. I'm no expert, but I'm smarter than the average bear and can figure things out on a cost-efficient budget. I already know where I want to live and it sure as heck is not in the city, I currently live in a city-like suburb, and I've had enough of the noise.
    I appreciate you Sis!

    Thanks Mary! I was back and forth about this for a while. I normally don't do group travel, but I considered a relocation tour since I could just set it and forget it. But, I eventually decided on doing my own self-guided scouting trip, especially after learning so much already from BWEIP. Cancer forced me to postpone this year, but I am so looking forward to coming next year!

    Thanks for sharing Mary. 😊 You are well-traveled and confident. I am a nervous type novice. I believe it is good to get various perspectives from different people who have already moved to Panama. Some of the advertised pros/perks for the tours are meeting with reliable attorneys, health professionals, etc. What do you feel is the best way to go about obtaining professionals to provide the services needed for residency if you do a private trip?

    • @Marysseasonedexpatlife
      @Marysseasonedexpatlife  5 месяцев назад +1

      You can easily get reliable and trusted references and referrals from other ladies in our group, or just use the search key for attorney or doctor there are several posts about them or you can simple ask in the chat, plenty of ways to get the information from other expats that are living here, this is the main purpose of Black Women Expats in Panama, we share our resources free of charge to help and support other women!

      Sis you can also interact in the group and connect with another sister, you don’t have to do it solo, and for the record I still get nervous, I am working on one about solo travel.

      Hi Mary, Thanks for sharing this information with us. I was on the fence about this same issue and couldn’t decide if I would do it myself or tag along with someone else. One of the tour operators has a day planned that I wasn’t interested in at all. I’m going to stay connected with the FaceTime group and will plan my scouting trip according. Gracias
