    Brutal game as always. Every time you went to thwart, I kept wanting to scream, "GET RID OF THE KREE SUPREMACY!!!" :) Also, I think you missed a few times of adding to the boost icons with Cannonade. My luck is bad against him too, he is just too difficult especially in the campaign. I usually play one hero which is even harder. My focus is usually try to get rid of Kree Supremacy asap and then pincer maneuver. Get the universal weapon off and hope a Target Acquired will pop to get the Universal Weapon into the discard pile when it comes in as a boost card.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer
      @DaletheCasualGamer  3 года назад +1

      @Jay Atkinson First play against Ronan ... and honestly, not sure I had enough threat removal to get there without Ronan getting built up with everything else. Too many items to address and I feel like taking out Ronan is a rush game. Not so sure about maintaining the status quo and building up. But, more plays will maybe figure out the needed pattern. Thanks for the advice, and 3 copies of Target Acquired really is something to add to decks against Ronan! Thanks! :)

    • @j_atkinson
      @j_atkinson 3 года назад +1

      @@DaletheCasualGamer But that's the point of Kree Supremacy, it helps him build up and makes the game Heroic 2 difficulty for you. I agree with your other comments btw, I think the designers took the difficulty too far especially for standard difficulty.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer
      @DaletheCasualGamer  2 года назад

      @Ben Joslin I just started another campaign in GMW with a friend, him as QuickSilver and me as Vision ... I see us using the optional rule too.
      I use two brands, for cards getting shuffled I use Dragon Shield clear matte sleeves, and then for the character identity card, main villain card, and main schemes I use FFG sleeves (basically any premium sleeve that is clear on both sides). The Dragon Shield clear matte sleeves are "blurry" on one side, so not the best for dual sided cards. Hope that helps, and happy gaming!! :)

      @Daniel Keim Thanks for watching!
      I have seen other people are getting Star Lord and Gamora ... I don't expect to get my copy until sometime next week since from what I'm told the official release date is May 14th. I haven't seen Star Lords cards, but in my opinion, his ability is not worth it ... getting an extra encounter card to reduce the cost of a card, unless all his cards are broken, they just can't be worth it.
      And if the Guardians cards make them that much better, that to me makes all the other heroes useless and while I'm not a huge Guardians fan (I just know of them because of the movies), I don't consider they're power level to be higher than most of the regulars in the Avengers. Time will tell. Happy gaming! :)

      @Samir Nathwani Annoyed, or more surprised that a "Standard" game immediately made me think of my play of Heroic 3 vs Klaw. This is a set I'd have a hard time recommending to average or casual gamers. I'd say get it for Rocket and Groot, as they are both fun to play. As for the villains, I do really like the new mechanics of play for them, just feel the difficulty was WAY off. I wasn't interested in playing Heroic mode, and definitely not interested in a Standard mode that feels like Heroic plus.

      Agreed. Big misstep with the campaign difficulty change to standard with Ronan.
      I used to play with my boy a lot, now he's completely lost interest due to the experience of the campaign. He's now not even interested playing the previous villains we played and enjoyed because he didn't find the experience fun at all. He hasn't played since.
      I feel that Campaign Standard has been designed for an incredibly niche audience, and I do wonder what damage this set might have done to future campaign sales.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer
      @DaletheCasualGamer  3 года назад

      @@kentmonkey8720 I don't mind losing a game but to me, that's the biggest disappointment from this set ... bringing in young and new gamers and then BAM, excitement of the game is over.
      I don't see the average, casual gamers being happy with this set at all, and while the more competitive gamers wanted something more challenging, I don't believe they wanted that in Standard and Expert mode, but maybe in a modified Heroic mode.
      We'll see how the community responds and how FFG handles future sets.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer
      @DaletheCasualGamer  3 года назад +1

      @varun ganti My opinion on this set (and I stress, just MY opinion) is that I would not recommend it to players that have been happy with Standard and Expert modes as is, unless they just want Rocket and Groot. I think the two heroes are super fun to play. As for the villains, I do like the mechanics introduced, but believe Standard mode to be harder than the previous Expert Mode, and the new Expert Mode feels like Heroic level 2.
      With that said, I've only played the standard campaign once solo (which you've seen) and once in a group (same results). No plans for an expert campaign, and honestly playing standard campaign I feel like I'd have to use the very best heroes with super optimized decks and the expert campaign rules not allowing you to change decks doesn't sound fun either. I might try it at some point, but I'd rather play with the new heroes against "normal" villains for fun. :)
      I have played non-campaign Expert using Dr. Strange and Ant-Man (the 2 most powerful heroes in my opinion) and I think Nebula and Ronan comes down to luck of the draw from the encounter deck. I'm sure with more plays I might feel confident with consistent wins against Nebula, but not Ronan. He has too many things building up that is difficult to keep under control.
      I currently have 4 total plays against Ronan. Two in standard campaign modes, both brutal losses. One solo non-campaign went well, but to me, Captain Marvel is broken in solo play. And one non-campaign expert mode vs Ronan with Dr. Strange and Ant-Man. I made two minor mistakes that I don't think impacted the play, but will call it a win (some might think otherwise). And I think that was total luck.
      Anyway, I hope that helps, and happy gaming!

    This went as expected lol .
    I played Ronan a bunch two-handed and true solo yesterday and this morning (lost them all of course). In one game today, I tried Star-Lord true solo and attempted the tactic of buying time round one and stayed in alter-ego form. Bad idea. Villain schemed straight up to 2nd stage of the scheme (even though I put out an ally who removed the 2 starting threat) and then with 4 encounter cards (You Stand Accused, the regular dealt one and the 2 from the two Kree cards) made him scheme up to the required 10 to make me lose by the scheme in round one. Good change of pace from getting KOed in 1 or 2 rounds I guess lol

    • @pierrelabrie99
      @pierrelabrie99 3 года назад +1

      I finally won after about a dozen tries or so. Star-Lord solo. Boss rush and had to get lucky card draws with no minions who have Guard, my ally had a Laser Blaster and gave her Target practice, used an element gun to remove a new Tough card on Ronan which got him down to 12 hit points, then got a Sliding Shot which dealt 10 damage (Ronan had Kree armor reducing damage taken by 1 per attack), this in turn made me take the Power Stone from him and since I was ready due to a Daring Escape, even with his Armor, because of the Power Stone I hit him for 2 damage with a basic attack to finish him off. This was round 2 and if I didn't win, the scheme was gonna be my demise.
      Anyways this is on Standard Mode (and I used my campaign setup with the Headhunter in there and my Stand Accused card, etc...). Not overly enjoyable (the rest of the campaign is fun, this one scenario is just too hard to be fun, I can't imagine going through that with other people).

      Agreed. Standard feelers like heroic with additional schemes and way too much surge. I like a lot of the mechanics, just not sure about the difficulty fitting the typical standard and expert modes. Feels like they heard complaints about the game being too easy and chose to up the scale for everyone. As such, other than getting Rocket and Groot, I wouldn’t recommend the villains for many players, just the ones who were previously playing heroic mode.

    WOW... I think you were worse than us hehehe.
    We played with Doctor Strange (Justice) and Rocket (Agression) and in the 10 attempts we were beaten by Ronan. Our best chance was when we took out all the side schemes in the first round, but we took 4 attacking events right thereafter.
    I came to see your video hoping to find out some mistake we made, but the blow really hurts hahaha.
    1- What did you think of this campaign? A lot harder than Red Skull's, isn't it?
    2- Doubt = you were drawing 2 event cards, but wouldn't it be 3 for each character? You must already have 1 event, but there is an Enviromment with +1 event and a Side Scheme with +1 event.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer

    I think they would have been better served putting some modularity into the campaign, rather than there only being one set for each scenario. I'm making Ronan more manageable by changing the modular set and only introducing the Kree Supremacy side scheme in the second villain section. I am playing with Cap and Rocket at the moment through the campaign. If they fail then the doctor will be getting a call 📞

    • @DaletheCasualGamer
      @DaletheCasualGamer  3 года назад

      @S Peter I see the Dr. being called in a lot now ... which I see as bad that there is only 1 or 2 heroes viable for a standard campaign. With that said, I did go Expert non-campaign with Dr. Strange and Ant-Man through all the villains. And even with that, I don't see Expert Ronan being a high percentage win with who I consider to me the top 2 heroes.
      I think what they did for this campaign would make a good alternative to the current "Heroic" mode, but not the standard for Standard and Expert. But that's just me. :)

Luckily I let Nebula keep the stone in the game before so I didn’t have to deal with You Stand Accused. Not sure I’ll ever play campaign mode again for GMW. And the real problem is the huge amount of encounter-cards and threat from pincer and the campaign-Challenge. But let us wait on the hero-packs for the rest of the guardians. This box have had to been testet with the other cards. If this is not the case, I think ffg made this way out of the scale too hard. Thanks for showing me, i sm not the only one struggling Dale.
