I have this printer and use it for my real estate biz. The cartridges have lasted over a year. Has every feature I would ever need and the print quality is great. LOVE this printer!
Another problem besides just page count though is the exact opposite side of the coin. For instance, if the printer has been sitting around without printing anything for a few days to a week then when you do go to print something then it has to go through this routine that flushes out the print head, thus wasting a lot of ink. The more the printer sits the more ink it has to waste to keep the ink from drying up and clogging the inkjets, which is little more than tiny little squirt guns that shoot tiny little ink droplets onto the paper. I've had 2 very popular HP Officejet Pro printers that could really go through the ink cartridges just cleaning and flushing the printhead. Then the inevitable happens. Not only has it killed me with a very expensive ink cartridge slurping addiction, the printhead finally gives up the ghost from trying to flush out those inkjet printheads. Oh, and the cost to replace the printhead assembly? Well, let's just say it is more than I paid for the whole printer, which is why I had bought the second HP Officejet Pro printer! Finally, I got fed up and jumped ship and switched to a Brother printer very similar to the one on this video. Will it do the same? Time will tell.
I am here because buying this printer new with 1 year of ink is cheaper than me replacing the ink in my current Canon. Good work Brother. Stuff you Canon.

I have 5 of these printers at our school and on average the brand new manufacture inc has last us about 6 months. I wish it had refillable inc container, then might have been more cost effective. However, all together happy with the printer.

well this is really interesting . I bought my printer yesterday set it up and it literally has printed two lines and already there is no ink in the cartridges!! Really annoying as I am in a rural area and cannot easily get to the shops to buy more. I am not sure what happened but the yellow and red are empty!!

Your black might last a year but the colors do not. I have had my Inkvestment Tank Brother printer now for 2 years. I have had to replace the color ink at least 7 times. If you run out of one color and change it to grey scale "that's black only" you can not print. It will make you replace what color needs to be replaced before it will print anything. I do love this printer though. I run a small business. I print everything from photos to stickers. Trust me when I say your color does not last long. I want to say the color last about 2-4 months if you do lots of high quality printing.
Spend more get better. This @ 110 clams 12/2020 is like the disaster created when g3 phones went away. If color ink only was used 3% of all ink, WHY ARE TANKS EMPTY? If you are going to use this beast learn how to fill your own carts and do a simple clean if not in use for a week or more.
Do not buy EPSON Ecotank 2720 printer! It will not print and the paper get jammed. It did not pass the print test when I first purchase it on May 2020. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! 🚮🗑

Or... buy a laser. Just saying. Its a premium to first invest, but you get FAR more than traditional inkjets. I've seen most lasers go between 1-3 thousand pages per catridge. Ink dries out usually after a few months, where as toner never dries because its powder.
With this your looking at abount 1 cent per page..if you look at brothers laser printers they estimate the print to cost 2.5-3cents per page...so how is the laser printer cheaper?

I have the Epson with the tanks and going on 2 years without buying ink. Also these inks for the brother are triple the price of the epson.
and the Epson printer is like 4x the price, $499 for the Epson, no thanks.

Yeah, the whole ink cartridge thing is the biggest rip-off. $199 isn't too bad of a deal for that longevity.
It is 2019. Why doesn't it do automatic double side scan? It's not hard. Just roll the paper back in on the other side when scanning.
