+rahdo After the session with Dice Tower crowd, do you feel like that this game is broken? It looks like improving your gun power is the most crucial thing in this game, then you find yourself pretty much snowballing. Also how do you feel about the downtime
not really. i did pretty well never firing a single shot. it's all about trying to find a path no one else willing to fight you for and leverage that, or alternately be prepared to defend yourself. the fact that you don't resolve workers as you place them definitely helps keep downtime under control
Steve Gale yup, players can duel to own buildings, as you don't actually get the tiles until mid way through the activation phase, which doesn't start until all workers are placed
i know this is on the way back machine, but i'm refreshing myself on this game in hopes i'll bust it out soon. but it looks like you short changed yourself and Jen each a gun when you placed the mine and ranch @16.
Near the end of year one, I believe you made a mistake. When correcting yourself you say that instead of passing, you wanted to exchange money for VPs. When doing so, however, you also discarded the money you got from gambling (as if you used this meeple for the exchange instead). In short, I think you should have startet with one more worker in year two, or kept the money from your gambling action...

i think they came with the original game and with the expansion, but maybe it was a seperate promo? it's been so long i don't really remember, tbhh

why do you say that? They had to pay the money as they did so why should they receive a gun?
placing a mine or ranch rewards you with a gun token. it's on the bottom right of the tile as a reminder.
You forgot to give more guns when building the mine and ranch
