This is genuinely one of my favorite songs of all time. I’ve known of it for years, but it seems like every time I come back to it something new connects with me in a different way than the last time.
You didn't ask me but imma slide in here anyway. My Favourite album at the moment is 'How To Leave Town' and my favourite song is 'Famous Prophets (Stars)' from 'Twin Fantasy'
Man, this is so weirdly cool. It's so full of life and creativity. It's a synthesis of old-style rock and roll with something more modern and abstract. A unique sound. Damn, DS9, you find so many good things.
I saw them a few years ago at a music festival. I thought they would blow up. But here we are and they are still obscure. Thanks for putting a spotlight on them.
I like all the transitions. You are really introducing me to styles of music I'd never knew existed. Very different and that's in good way. Interesting name they have too. What's next?
That was great. I really enjoyed it. As I was listening to it, I got the impression they were from Chicago, something about their sound that reminded me of Big Black and other older Chicago bands. They mostly reminded me of the band Guided By Voices, ( Jane of the Waking Universe”) from Ohio but on Matador records which has many good artists worth checking out. Yeah man I liked this one a lot. Thanks Daniel.
i don’t know if you’ve heard any of their other songs, but if there is a song i could recommend to anybody from this band it would be The Ballad Of Costa Concordia. i could say this song truly was there for me in the worst period of my life. i never felt so embraced, sad, frustrated, and mostly not alone. it’s a masterpiece of a song and i hope that if you check it out, you’ll love it as well.
I can't really react to anymore of their material, mainly because I've now heard it all (including Will's early numbered albums and his previous project). BoCC was amazing :) Twin Fantasy, Monomania, and How to Leave Town are my favorite albums as of right now.
This specific CSH song reminds me of some of the lengthier meandering Sonic Youth tracks like Wildflower Soul if it was mixed with something like Dinosaur Jr's Freak Scene. I love CSH and would love to see more reviews and reactions :)
Hi Daniel! Been a fan of CSH for 5 years now, and haven't even listened to their full catalog yet LOL (there are so many releases!) I think you'll really like listening to "Teens of Denial" or "How to Leave Town" next. Teens of Denial is more of a "concise" indie rock album, given it's recorded with a full band, and thus has a more mainstream /familiar sound. "How to Leave Town" is an hour-long EP (I consider it an album imo), that has more similarities with Twin Fantasy, given it's solo Toledo era, and is his 2nd biggest recording to me as of right now. Personally, I really like "Fill in the Blank", "(Joe Gets Kicked Out of School for Using) Drugs With Friends (But Says This Isn't a Problem)" and "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" in "Teens of Denial" and "The Ending of Dramamine" and "America (Never Been)" in "How to Leave Town". Greetings from Brazil!
Very guided by voices low-fi.....if you like this your gonna love bee thousand by GBV same label matador as well......bunch of guys drinking beer recording songs in a basement
