@@LorraineBeleny-mc3px you must not be a fan because that is how he was always called. Watch the interviews even the ones with Barry after their deaths.
The Bee Gees were an amazing group . They wrote all of their own songs over 1000 . Also wrote for many others including Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Celine Dion and many more. They first started singing together in the late 50s and had major hits through to the 2000s when unfortunately Maurice died suddenly. Thanks for listening to the brothers Gibb , I will never get tired of listening to them, brings so many memories.😊
My favorite performance of this song because you can hear each brother with a distinct part. On the recording it is Barry doing the falsetto. Maurice does a wonderful job on the live performances. There is a great medley from this same midnight special. Other songs: Obsessions Lovers Miracles Happen Blue Island I surrender (promotional video)
Brother Mo!!! He really stepped up, & Could do everything you asked him to do! He is one of the most underrated, Bass players! And this Is the true version, (they cut out , The place in the song where they slow down, for a shorter radio play version). And you can see, how Mo, Does the falsetto, here, instead of Barry, (since his are the add libs, on The studio version).... can't do 2 things at once, LIVE! A great LIVE performance is in '89, singing a MEDLEY, In Melbourne Australia, 12 mins. Long... just the Brothers , A mic 🎤 & Barry's 🎸... (soft band in the background)... they really SHINE! Singing fan favorites! Many of them Are as Barry calls them their babies.. Mo, being his hilarious self; as his Brothers try not to Crack up, while singing... (just found you guys)... so, I don't know if you have reacted to that yet. From that same performance, they also sing "Massachusetts", which I think, was their 1st # 1... Robin sings the lead... Into the future after "The fever years" '79 (studio versions to get the true sounds)... are LOVE YOU INSIDE OUT/ LOVE SO RIGHT earlier in '69 LONELY DAYS LONELY NIGHTS (they have a video of) Then into future ... 90's ..FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS (video, w/ NYC in the background)... Barry Gibb & his Brothers, wrote, and Produced, Barbra Streisand's biggest selling Album, GUILTY. There Is a LIVE performance of Barry & Barbra Streisand singing 2 duets, (Duets, something you don't see as much today)...From that Album, on her patio, for a Charity event... GUILTY & WHAT KIND OF FOOL... Another person they wrote for out of many, was" Dion Warwick", her song, HEART BREAKER... They would go onto record it as well 2 decades later..if You would like to hear their version, Of HEART BREAKER ❤ (video)...Great reaction guys !! Thank you! ♥️🕊♥️
Barry had the higher and stronger Falsetto, thats why he sings it in all studio versions, but here he sings the chest voice part, so Mo makes the falsetto parts.
Wow wow wow... They can all sing in falsetto. They are so freaking amazing. Barry didn't know he could sing in falsetto until later. I don't remember which song he said that he first did it on but he just wanted to add something at the end of the song.
@JourneytotheBeats Thank you so much for staying on this Bandwagon!!! 2 other “live” songs from this same Midnight Special were also excellent. They were: JIVE TALKING WIND OF CHANGE AND …Barry really did have a wide range of from low to high…Mo did too, but Barry could go higher in his falsetto. Now on the instruments…Mo could play anything! He mostly played bass on the earlier songs like this one, then later he preferred the keyboard. Barry was always on the guitar. KEEP THE BEE GEES REACTIONS COMING!!!!❤❤❤❤
@@JourneytotheBeatsfirst time viewing your channel and I am definately subscribing. I realIy enjoyed both of your reactions to my favorite group and you recognized the excellence in Mo's performance. I love all things Bee Gees with Mo being the one who stole my heart. Barry did have a phenomenal falsetto after this song was recorded although Mo did many of their earlier songs in high harmony. Like Barry said, Mo did have the widest range. I love each of their unique voices but i adored Mo's very versitile, rich, silky smooth voice. He also had an amazing, deep speaking voice. The only thing about his voice that i saw as a drawback was the volume. Both Barry and Robin could belt out very loud in their singing voice while Mo was harder to hear when he was singing with the brothers. Though make no mistake Mo could sing fabulously and he also had the most variety as to what he could do and make his voice do. Looking forward to viewing much more of your reactions.
This is the song where Barry developed his falsetto. When the song g was first recorded there was no falsetto and the producer said to the brothers, “someone needs to go out there and scream.” Barry volunteered and the rest is history.
They went on midnight special multiple times in 75, 76 to reboot their career and introduce a new sound and all of the live performances are exceptional. The pros know that Maurice was one of the best base guitar players of his generation.
They all had wide ranges. Barry and Robin were asked in an interview who had the widest and they both agreed that it was Robin. That being said, there is a site connected to Ringo Starr in some way that has listed recorded high and low notes (likely arrived at using fancy computerized equipment), and Barry has the lowest and highest recorded notes of the three. What Barry said on a couple of occasions about Mo is that he was a master harmonist who always knew where to place that third harmony. He often placed the high harmony, especially when younger. The best example of it is their live performance of the Bob Dylan hit BLOWIN IN THE WIND… which I would love to see you react to.
This is the Song, the transitioned The Bee Gees from , the 60s , fold and Beatle vibes, into the 70s Disco era..but this is pre disco by about a year from the Disco Wave. ...and its very special. The Brothers Gibb. Mock them if you will ...but they were Pioneers! ❤
Coriander said harmonies like the Jonas Brothers.. Make's me feel so old.. lol .. I was a baby but I remember my older sister (RIP) raising me on The Osmond's the Jackson 5... perfect harmonies... And she made me sing with her to everything.. she really had a great voice and I could just back it up with some harmony. Siblings are great together.. can't deny that.
You pointed out that this was them live and not a studio version. Yes, they were incredible. Here is a short clip for fun of them singing part of "How Deep is Your Love" on a talk show. You can hear the incredible natural harmony of their voices. RIP Maurice and Robin.
Barry usually always had the spotlight.. deservedly so... but Robin had this weird great voice.. and Maurice just had great harmony with his brothers. So did Andy in later years..
For range try Monday's Rain that may shock you about Robins range often hid in his Bee Gees songs. I so love Nights on Broadway. This is by far the best live.

This is the Bee Gees song where the Bee Gees discovered there Falsetto voices. The Producer asked if the Bee Gees could make a screaming or exciting sounds. The Bee Gees kept harmonizing higher and higher. They discovered they could all do it but Barry could do it the Longest. Barry sang Falsetto parts in the Studio but sometimes in live performances Robin or Maurice had to do the Part.
That’s not how it came about at all. The other two didn’t attempt it. They were asked if one of them could scream in tune, and Barry volunteered to try. That’s how he discovered his falsetto. Maurice would sing the falsetto on Nights in Broadway live because Barry couldn’t do two parts at once. Maurice didn’t sing falsetto in place of Barry live any other song that I know of. It was just because Barry couldn’t sing two parts at once on Nights.
Highly recommend You Should Be Dancing Live 93, best version of amazing live concert footage from their 76 Spirits Tour. This also features their much younger brother Andy Gibb a year or two before his solo career exploded into superstardom as well. RIP Andy, Maurice, & Robin. Carry on, Sir Barry.❤❤❤❤
The Spirits tour was 1979. That was incredible when Andy joined them! All 4 of them were spectacular and the audience went wild!!! I would have loved to have been there! The energy for that whole concert was electrifying!!!
Thanks, guys.. Robin is my favorite.. gotta enjoy the seventies vibe.. any one of these boys could have hit any of those notes.. check out under-rated bro - Maurice at then end... appreciate your reactions!
Please react to Bee Gees - I Can't See Nobody. Robin is the lead singer in that song. The first taped performance of the song is from the year they wrote it which was 1967. There is a version of it that is almost 4 minutes long I believe. Maybe you could do a reaction where you look at the first performance on TV of the song followed by the 1973 TV performance and then perhaps the 1974 performance from Melbourne. Or you could just react to one of those videos, either way is okay with me. 😃
I love this version because it really shows Mo's talent. I do not like the studio version because Barry takes over Mo's part and I actually think Mo's version is better. Mo is the most underrated Bee Gee which is a shame. Now you should check out Mo's song Man in the Middle. It's about his life and struggles. Just subscribed like your vibe.

I almost fell off my chair when you mentioned the Jonas Brothers. Comparing the Bee Gees and their talent and composing abilities to the Jonas brothers is like comparing Godzilla to a gecko. The Bee Gees had success from the 1960's until deaths ended them as a group in the 2000's and are in the Composers' Hall of fame with people like Gershwin and Hammerstein! No offence but no comparison and no use of studio tricks that didn't even exist for the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees were equally good live as in the studio. All three could sing falsetto (Fanny be tender, Living together, Too much heaven) but Barry's was strongest. Robin's natural vibrato was unmatched by any of his generation. Mo could harmonise with anything. When Barry and Robin sang together, although with very different voices, they sounded like one, a 4th voice. A shame Robin didn't play on stage except very early in their career and on some of his solo LP's. Might I suggest their medley from Melbourne in 1989 from the "One for all" tour. It features each brother's voice around one mic and bits of their songs and those they wrote for others.
Excellent comment and I totally agree with everything that you said. Although any and all of their concert medleys with the 3 of them around the one mic are amazing, their 1989 "One For All" concert in Australia was out of this world- phenomenal.
