UNLESS we get a commander like arthur with is two types of damage which isnt something I had thought of until he brought it up in this video.

To be honest, Ragnar is not really in everyone's lineup up until now. People said he is good he is excellent but doubted in investing in him. I think im going to run LC/Phillip Huo/Arthur Zhuge/Herman P Ragnar/Scipio P Nevsky/Joan I feel like thats pretty solid. I was a little tempted to do a siege march but I feel like the playstyle is probably boring and its a big investment (2 commanders, armaments, gear, actually training siege troops...)

Enemies have more then enough time to destroy you. If you have field, siege is king, if you do not have field, siege is useless. But honest you are correct. Siege is the top tier of F2P play.

Agree for Philippe but not so sure you really need leadership gear , if you plain to play mono troops nothing can stop you to use like Philippe first and Assurbanipal secondary , with Philippe get all dragon breath set ! And for sure Archellong armements! I use this and it’s very very good !
Thanks Chris I enjoyed the vid as always. What I don't understand is looking at commanders as individuals. We all use commanders in pairs and I know you do best pairs for each cat vids which is great but take a commander like Honda and he goes with everyone, Philip goes with everyone, Alex can still be used. I agree they are not the best of the best but their utility makes them more than niche. Just throwing it out there.
i think it's better to keep liu/alex and scipi/ragnar from an economic point of view.most already invested in alex and i don't see a big difference from ww when paired with liu
So I did invest in WW, and I’m very happy with him. I do see improvement from my Alex, for sure. Not huge, but definitely good. The biggest difference is in the structure swarming. Wallace is a machine in swarming flags if that’s what your kd does, by virtue of rage reduction and big dps. In the testing I’ve done, there’s a significant different between the 2 marches. But if you’re limited on gh and you don’t often swarm, you’re probably right, he’s not the play. I think the only real upgrade for strict field fighting from LC/alex is grabbing Phil, who buffs the hell out of your other marches 😎

He’s more of like a bonus because you had been waiting for ages to invest in a commander, had 1000+ sculptures like I did (I skipped a few releases), and like swarming structures 😂😂😂 That said, Phil as an investment for folks running 4+ marches, now THATS an upgrade. I picked him up on one of my accounts, have tried him with both LC and ZL, and I have zero regrets 😂😂😂😂

Because your kill will come by filling the rally’s of your Kingdoms whale gar/rally leads. That’s also a major reason why the most recruited players will alway be the gar/rally players. Or chase the meta and end up with a lot of 5511 5551 wasted invested commanders 😂. I love Chisgule. Learned a lot from him. Just realized as a F2P. Follow some advice doesn’t make sense for free to play. Think about it. He’s already talking about going the direction of combo. Really a whole new set of Armaments? For f2P. New Armaments would require 6 months to a year. Even with this time and resources investment. You’ll be lucky to get sub par armaments.
If you were about to enter kvk 3 what would be the Inf pair you would go for? I will definitely go for liu che but the question is what to pair him with. Wallace: Decent power and synergy BUT will likely be replaced by next smite commander. Scipio P: Very good at 5551 and could be moved into a second Inf pair with Ragnar if smite comes BUT is very old and might get outpowered soon. Ragnar P: Best long term Inf invest besides Liu BUT doesnt have the best synergy with Liu (With new smite commander release you could do Ragnar+Mehmed relic but who knows if the next Inf will be a good smite comm?) My only other march is Huo + Arthur I cant really decide so Im open for suggestions and opinions.

I think this list is going to lead many new players down the wrong path. Commanders need to be made in pairs and made with consideration to armaments. With the swap feature in the game, most early can players can now use GHs to max 1-2 pre-SoC comms, and then swap them to 1 meta pair. Additionally, Archers are often targeted so your first 2 marches should either be Inf or Cavs. Your first Cav pair should be: JoanP / King Arthur Your first inf pair should be either: ScipioP / LC RP / Scipio (or Scipio/RP) Many players are assuming the cav meta for field is HQ/KA. That's because HQ/KA was duel tested, and most people run Nevsky Joan. You run HQ/KA when you use 2 cav marches. However, when you run 1 and only 1 cav march it's 100% JP/KA. The reason ScipioP still stays at the top is that he's still the most complete commander in the game, with a very valuable AoE debuff.
I watch these videos in the anticipation hoping that my Arthur/Ragnar swap wasn't wasted lol. As I plan on running Liue/Alex, Ragnar/Scipio, Nevsky/Arthur and ZL/Hermann. All expertise except 5551 Hermann haha

I don’t understand why you think they are removing or only going one way with these new damage commanders… they aren’t going to remove skill damage commanders, they are just added. The addition to prime Ragnar proves it. So if they removing the skill damage what happens to all the players that invested in the wedge formation? They just added these new types of commanders so that they just stop doing the power creep. U will see the next archer commander one of them will be skill.
When you say the skill damage Meta is starting to fade, would you say investing in getting the KVK skin "Twilight Falls" is a bad idea. I currently run Divine Abode city skin and have 2 Inf, 2 Cav and 1 Archer with all the Meta commanders listed above.
Think bout it for now huo/Arthur Ragnar/scipio zhuge/hermann besides Liu che all meta commander does skill damage. Fade to what combo cavalry, Arthur better as sec doing skill damage smite only Liu che is up there , healing true damage archer not have the punch of Zhuge/hermann. So yeah for now skill damage is 9/10 commanders for open field meta

I think Philip should've been ranked higher. He is very strong and versatile. He basically a commander with a kvk artifact built in where you can swap him into many different marches.
Scipio should be primary to Ragnar because his active skill reduces his opponent’s health by 30%, Ragnars skill does more damage. Please if anyone can explain if I’m wrong, lmk
I still don't see it with WW, will do fine in duels, ark and canyon, but underperforms for me in the push pull fights of kvk. Got him, expertised him, dropped him in a day to put Alex back in the lineup

@@Chisgule well I mean I'm sure he is an upgrade over many things, but he is the first of his archetype. The problem with first commanders of their archetype is that they fall of really fast once the game starts pushing out on said archetype. Like ok wallace is good, but how much is there to compare with? Other than Scipio E which is for rallies... and it's not like the early years of this game. Now we have 2/3 new commanders every 2 months basically, so commanders (including the most recent ones) are even quicker to fall off the list, while commanders who start getting old will find new ways to be paired and or to be buffed. First thing being ZL. It's unthinkable that he will be replaced or used in a secondary archers march. Same goes for Scipio P. The most probable thing is that ww will get replaced immediately by a new smite inf commander, and that Joan P will as well. I doubt Nevsky will be replaced any soon since he's the reason the march lasts more than 10 seconds on the field, otherwise it would be as squishy as Guan Yu/Scipio P.
Seeing all these comments about WW gave me headache. Ill just swap WW for arthur then pairing my LC with scip. Guan on bench now but the next cycle i can max 1 inf and 1 cav for the pairing.

The counter play to range is to bring range and focus fire on ranged marches. Additionally, bring a squad of fast cav (Huo/Philip etcetera), and target the ranged marches. This is how warfare literally worked at the time. Artillery, trebuchets, English longbowmen, Ottoman Janissary. If you are unable to counter fire using your own ranged troops; you use high-speed calvary, calvary archers, or dragoons. Really feels like excuses... In real life a weak body soldier could become an excellent long-range Archer. In RoK low power low spenders can provide massive field control value by debuffing the enemy, and sad facing low health hit and run troops.
Hot take; Ragnar is super overrated. He's just WAY too slow in the field to ever be applying to his full potential anywhere other than gianbt imperium ball fights, which is not where the vast majority of players are fighting.
personally i think WW should be niche role instead of scipio bcs it is likely the next inf will be smite leaving scip ragnar, LC with the new smite. Even if this doesn't happen LC alex is pretty much jjust as good so investing WW is pretty much unnecessary

I feel like you shouldnt be using canyon as a criteria by which to measure invesment viability. You should never invest in a commander for canyon. Invest on field, 100%. If you have the money to have field covered, then you dont really need investment advice anyway, you already have them all

I think wallace right now, and even when he came out, was never better than Scipio and is now even the 4th best commander in the game. Because if the next inf commander is smite he will probably outclass Ww as we see the power creep of Arthur. In that case people would run Ragnar/Scipio and Liu/new inf, meaning Ww would most definitely get bumped out

I've been saying the same as Chis for quite some time. Cavs are a ticking time bomb with Nev and Joan, Scipio will get replaced with a new skill DMG inf, and shahar + new true DMG is better

Siege you can abuse the terrain tho, and attack behind cities, mountains etc.

When you say the skill damage Meta is starting to fade, would you say investing in getting the KVK skin "Twilight Falls" is a bad idea. I currently run Divine Abode city skin and have 2 Inf, 2 Cav and 1 Archer with all the Meta commanders listed above.
Think bout it for now huo/Arthur Ragnar/scipio zhuge/hermann besides Liu che all meta commander does skill damage. Fade to what combo cavalry, Arthur better as sec doing skill damage smite only Liu che is up there , healing true damage archer not have the punch of Zhuge/hermann. So yeah for now skill damage is 9/10 commanders for open field meta
I already maxed Arthur. I think he is great… but my question is, how you have top priority commander that currently is best only as a secondary due to all the complicated equipment shenanigans you have to do to make him viable as a primary??? 🤷🏻♂️
Agree, devs would not create True damage to abandon it immediately. Bet new Archer will have solid march speed too.

I think Philip should've been ranked higher. He is very strong and versatile. He basically a commander with a kvk artifact built in where you can swap him into many different marches.

Scipio should be primary to Ragnar because his active skill reduces his opponent’s health by 30%, Ragnars skill does more damage. Please if anyone can explain if I’m wrong, lmk
I still don't see it with WW, will do fine in duels, ark and canyon, but underperforms for me in the push pull fights of kvk. Got him, expertised him, dropped him in a day to put Alex back in the lineup
WW LC become my best trading march by a lot, I find it to be incredibly powerful and felt like WW was an upgrade over alex.
@@Chisgule Maybe it does well for the whales of the world, for me it traded worse than Alex with the added benefit of extra slowness as well! I mean its been so ordinary that I am considering swapping WW out!
@@Chisgule well I mean I'm sure he is an upgrade over many things, but he is the first of his archetype. The problem with first commanders of their archetype is that they fall of really fast once the game starts pushing out on said archetype. Like ok wallace is good, but how much is there to compare with? Other than Scipio E which is for rallies... and it's not like the early years of this game. Now we have 2/3 new commanders every 2 months basically, so commanders (including the most recent ones) are even quicker to fall off the list, while commanders who start getting old will find new ways to be paired and or to be buffed. First thing being ZL. It's unthinkable that he will be replaced or used in a secondary archers march. Same goes for Scipio P.
The most probable thing is that ww will get replaced immediately by a new smite inf commander, and that Joan P will as well. I doubt Nevsky will be replaced any soon since he's the reason the march lasts more than 10 seconds on the field, otherwise it would be as squishy as Guan Yu/Scipio P.

The counter play to range is to bring range and focus fire on ranged marches. Additionally, bring a squad of fast cav (Huo/Philip etcetera), and target the ranged marches.
This is how warfare literally worked at the time. Artillery, trebuchets, English longbowmen, Ottoman Janissary. If you are unable to counter fire using your own ranged troops; you use high-speed calvary, calvary archers, or dragoons.
Really feels like excuses... In real life a weak body soldier could become an excellent long-range Archer. In RoK low power low spenders can provide massive field control value by debuffing the enemy, and sad facing low health hit and run troops.

Hot take; Ragnar is super overrated. He's just WAY too slow in the field to ever be applying to his full potential anywhere other than gianbt imperium ball fights, which is not where the vast majority of players are fighting.
personally i think WW should be niche role instead of scipio bcs it is likely the next inf will be smite leaving scip ragnar, LC with the new smite. Even if this doesn't happen LC alex is pretty much jjust as good so investing WW is pretty much unnecessary

I feel like you shouldnt be using canyon as a criteria by which to measure invesment viability. You should never invest in a commander for canyon. Invest on field, 100%. If you have the money to have field covered, then you dont really need investment advice anyway, you already have them all

I think wallace right now, and even when he came out, was never better than Scipio and is now even the 4th best commander in the game. Because if the next inf commander is smite he will probably outclass Ww as we see the power creep of Arthur. In that case people would run Ragnar/Scipio and Liu/new inf, meaning Ww would most definitely get bumped out
Or he will be dual damage like Arthur but with Smite + Skill damage and replace Scipi instead

I swapped 5511 gold key for nev and im planning to swap a 5521 for arthur. I think for my situation its good to just invest into nevsky cause I want to expand instead of upgrading for my young account.
I've been saying the same as Chis for quite some time. Cavs are a ticking time bomb with Nev and Joan, Scipio will get replaced with a new skill DMG inf, and shahar + new true DMG is better
