There is more information about Brandon Sanderson in this 56-minute podcast than a certain article that was recently released in a popular main stream magazine and apparently worked on for 5 months.
So Dan's the mentor you find by the side of the road with a quest to give out, while Brandon's the guy begrudgingly running the school for future heroes?
“Is it real marble on the floor of your underground lair?” I’ve just come back from seeing Shazam 2 in cinema but this line from Dan is funnier than the entire movie
Dan being a creepy nurturing person, I just imagined Dan in a slasher flick from the 80s. :D Like a teenage girl in skimpy clothes is running through the forest, screaming her head off and waving her arms. Dan is walking right behind her in a grey jumpsuit, with a stone look on his face and a machete in his hand. Suddenly she trips and falls, Dan bends over her, the music swells and Dan...!! Gives her a wool sweater, "it's cold outside", asks her if she is all right? and helps her find her way back home where he has prepared more warm blankets and hot coco.
In 29:10 Brandon says he was the curmudgeon who wanted to stay at home but in the end go along (I'm like that also), that reminded me of a Bob's Burger meme saying "OK, I'LL GO BUT I'LL COMPLAIN ALL THE TIME"
As one who only reached that state about 6 months ago, I can tell you it’s a massive relief. And it didn’t come from any external life changes. Purely getting it together internally
My husband is like that as well, whereas I’m the polar opposite. He just…wakes up in an okay mood every day. It’s so weird and I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. Meanwhile some days I’ll wake up and be like “well, I’m sad today because that’s how I woke up. Ok.”
Idk why but hearing Brandon curse broke me. I'm used to people swearing, but for some reason Brandon's "clean" personality juxtaposed with him randomly saying "dick jokes", made me laugh uncontrollably
I did wonder for the longest time if he holds off swearing cause this is a family friendly podcast or because of some religious aspect I’m not familiar with, but that dick jokes comment did break me too lol
They kept looking for the puns in the Fast & Furious titles, but what about just "Furiously Fast"?? That SWITCHES THE ORDER of the words, never before heard of F&F title template. It'd be a hit
You have 500 board games at home Dan? Shoot dang! You should show us your collection some time or just tell us your favorites. Mine are Dune Imperium, Undaunted, Mistborn: House War, and Twilight Imperium.
Could you post a link to this quiz? And also do it for Ben.... Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please
36:23 "I'm the guy where when my friends move, and they're like, 'Can you come help?' I HIRE people to go help them." Jeez, Brando, way to flex that money. But also, same. When I get some money I want to do something like that. Because helping people move is the worst.
Dang I'm a senior in high school and I couldn't relate more to Brandon's "40-year-old from birth" thing. I never really fit in with a lot of kids except other "mature" kids or kids who understand and interface with such personalities. I guess I consider it emotional maturity and an inordinate amount of contentedness and near-stoicism. In other areas such as humor, creativity, and child-like awe for things, definitely not always mature.
I have a personal food heist! A few years ago my mother's car was stolen in Milan, it was found across the border in Switzerland, but all the stores of chewing gums (two or three packs) had disappeared! Clearly the whole theft was for the chewing gums!
Raymond Reddington dropped the sphere off his ocean liner once he’d transferred the contents to other holdings. If they open the sphere they’ll find the remains of this season’s villain from the blacklist.
An IQ at over 140 is considered genius or almost genius. 120-140 is very superiorly intelligent. According to an IQ test, Sanderson is considered a genius, or very nearly so--after that much time, I would assume that the "140" he gave is only the first two digits, because after a long time people usually forget the last one. Based on those results, I would honestly raise my estimation of the IQ test--and they're improving every day. Also, people forget that "genius" can apply to a lot of different areas. THe one discussed here is one specific type, and just because he doesn't identify with that type doesn't mean that he isn't a genius--a physicist, an artist, a sports nerd, and a philosopher can all the same IQ, that IQ can be over 140, and they can still be vastly different people in vastly different circles.
Knight Rider type F&F is stopped by a hacker of the cars. So the only people who can do the same, but with cars without computers are brought in: The Family !!
The Mallard from NCIS is "Ducky" Mallard - the ME. He talks to the bodies on the table while he examines them - the older, sophisticated, English doctor. Love him!
Would love to see you guys take the Myers Briggs personality test. When I took it, the description was scary accurate and TV tropes has a list of fictional characters prescribed to each personality type.
Based on prior comments Brandon had made, he is a fan of Dave Bautista's acting. Dan and Brandon should devote an entire episode of Intentionally Blank to review all of Dave Bautista's movies. I want to see what they think of Hotel Artemis. I think that is a very underated movie.
Not so Fast Not so Furious... and have vin in a wheel chair with a steering wheel and shifter REALLY into it, like he is in a race.... but the wheel and shifter are just toys for kids.
So the really question is, does Brandon know that for the new Lord of the Rings magic set, they made one special copy of The One Ring in black speech and dispersed it out into the wild? And if he does know of this, how does he plan on acquiring it?
found the test while I listened. got the "The best match between the self assessment you provided and the profile of a fictional character as rated by other people who have taken this survey is the character Ender Wiggin (Ender's Game)." 88% match. Literally had me laughing as I truly appreciate the character.
41:50 "Is it real marble on the floor of your underground lair?" - Dan to Brandon the playboy millionaire 😄Only in this instance 'playboy' refers exclusively to an infatuation with a boardgame rated 13+.
1. Marie Kreutz (The Bourne Identity): 85% 2. Marianne (Portrait of a Lady on Fire) 85% 3. Elisa Esposito (The Shape of Water): 84% 4. Lane Kim (Gilmore Girls): 83% 5. Brandon: and the fries are the fries.. Me: What? Brandon: Yea, the fries that come with the cheeseburger. You didn’t think you get all that for only a dollar fifty but you did-so it’s a food heist.
My top ten Dr. Strange (Marvel Cinematic Universe): 90% Dr. Adrian Mallory (Space Force): 87% Dr. Wendy Carr (Mindhunter): 86% Ender Wiggin (Ender's Game): 86% Temperance Brennan (Bones): 86% Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Hannibal): 85% El Profesor (Money Heist): 85% Dr. Sharon Fieldstone (Ted Lasso): 85% Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter): 84% Cristina Yang (Grey's Anatomy): 84% I know I took it before and was much more particular with my percentages. I think my top was Sherlock and I also got doctor strange in my top ten. Both are very accurate
I found my old list and I got two Sherlock Holmes, both from Sherlock and from elementary, Beth Harmon, Kay Stratford, and I still had ended Wiggins and Dr. strange but he was 9th at 85%. I think the first one I did was more accurate
this was better than expected lol those were some pretty good matches. i think your guys fast and furious movie idea is the transition movie that links that franchise to the Cars movie franchise :D
I love this podcast, but I have a question that I would love to hear you two answer. If you were to write a canon story, in the main series of another author, and they would do the same to you, which author/series would it be and why? This is excluding each other, anyone from your writing group, or writing excuses podcast. If you choose to answer this question I would be delighted! Thank you!
In the first Avengers movie, the council of shady mofos decided to nuke NYC. That's a great scene. Flunky: "The council has made their decision." Fury: "And since it's a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it."
Hey I got 139 in mine too! and yes IQ tests are nonsense, or rather fat tailed, meaning they become accurate only at the edges of the distribution, specially the lower end (people under 90). I think the man with the highest IQ in the USA is a retired farmhand in Ohio, he was in one of those trivia programs in the 90s, walked away with a million bucks I think.
Dan doesn't have a poisonous bone in his body. This is because he has a poisonous gland.
Technically, it’s venom ;)
Waiting for Brandon and Dan's secret car heist novel written under the pen name F. Ast Urious.
Just wanted to tell Brandon that the Wired artice was ridiculous and mean-spirited. We fans appreciate your graciousness, generosity, and care.
“But my magic cards are in piles…” 😂 love hearing the reasoning behind these answers lol
The fact that they’re in piles and not thrown in boxes or on the floor means he’s more organized than he thinks.
Frizzlefry, that a unique name. I had a old friend from Classic wow with that name, any chance that you might have played on the Dunemaul server?
There is more information about Brandon Sanderson in this 56-minute podcast than a certain article that was recently released in a popular main stream magazine and apparently worked on for 5 months.
Which magazine?
They started off with an apology; I thought they were gunna announce secret project 5 through 8
There already is a Secret Project 5, even though it is not getting released yet.
We can only wish
lol this aged pretty well for y’all
@@nicoleneedschocolatestill waiting on 6-8 😢
Brandon gives himself a 65 for altruistic while wearing a shirt for his charitable foundation. 😂
I love how much Brandon loves his flip phone.
Makes me happy every time he shows it off.
You guys should post a link to the quiz so we can all take it! 😁
psychometrich. I am 86% Obi Wan

As a fan of self deprecating humour, this episode has multiple laugh out loud moments
"I feel the same everyday and it's a pretty good feel." Damn must be nice 😂
Couldn't be me.
As one who only reached that state about 6 months ago, I can tell you it’s a massive relief. And it didn’t come from any external life changes. Purely getting it together internally

I think the name of the test is, Open-Source Psychometrics Project Statistical "Which Character" Personality Quiz.
Idk why but hearing Brandon curse broke me. I'm used to people swearing, but for some reason Brandon's "clean" personality juxtaposed with him randomly saying "dick jokes", made me laugh uncontrollably
Me too
Yeah, I had to think about that for a few seconds to make sure that’s actually what I heard.
It was when he quoted Nick Fury's "As it's a stupid-ass decision" line when I lost it
My pedantic nature overwhelms me. Dick is a vulgarity, not a curse.
I did wonder for the longest time if he holds off swearing cause this is a family friendly podcast or because of some religious aspect I’m not familiar with, but that dick jokes comment did break me too lol

My favorites are Small World and all the various versions of Settlers of Cataan.
I second this, we need to see dans board game collection. Share a shelfie Dan! My favorites are spirit island, moonrakers and gloomhaven.
Last Night on Earth, Battlestar Galactica, Legacy: the Testament of Duke du Crecy, Roll for the Galaxy, Gloomhaven, Wingspan.
Battlelore Second Edition, 878 Vikings, 7 Wonders duel.
Yay for Wingspan!
Could you post a link to this quiz? And also do it for Ben.... Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please
I think you’re legally obligated to do it for Ben
Agreed
54:15 ...The people *demand* it!!! 😃😅
Do it for Ben, we demand it.
How about “fast and the furbyest” and the main characters are now played by furbys?
This episoede had me rolling. I lost it when Brandon got a poney!
36:23 "I'm the guy where when my friends move, and they're like, 'Can you come help?' I HIRE people to go help them."
Jeez, Brando, way to flex that money.
But also, same. When I get some money I want to do something like that. Because helping people move is the worst.
Dang I'm a senior in high school and I couldn't relate more to Brandon's "40-year-old from birth" thing. Wait Dan hasn't seen umbrella academy??? that seems right up his alley with how weird it is.
I watched about ten minutes and disliked all of them.
I have a personal food heist!
A few years ago my mother's car was stolen in Milan, it was found across the border in Switzerland, but all the stores of chewing gums (two or three packs) had disappeared! Clearly the whole theft was for the chewing gums!
69% Slovenly while wearing a suit jacket is ridiculous

The excellent content we’re here for
23:45 Man made 25 million out of nowhere and his knee-jerk reaction was "lets make the books better"
What is going on with that sign behind Dan? Some parody of the Life, Laugh, Love thing?
Knight Rider type F&F is stopped by a hacker of the cars. So the only people who can do the same, but with cars without computers are brought in: The Family !!
If Jack, the carjacking car, jacks a car with a sleeping kid and the kid wakes up, is it still a kid napping?
F'ast Urious is a brilliant D&D name Dan. I may attempt to sneak this one by my players sometime.
The Mallard from NCIS is "Ducky" Mallard - the ME. He talks to the bodies on the table while he examines them - the older, sophisticated, English doctor. Love him!
i love ducky!! i was slightly disappointed that he didn’t seem to recognize the character but i thought it was great.
The people demand it. But more so the people demand that Ben joins you full-time.
I took a personality test once, and the result just said, "None found."
Not sure how to feel about that.
Do the test for Ben. Then get him on another episode to see how much he disagrees.
Would love to see you guys take the Myers Briggs personality test. When I took it, the description was scary accurate and TV tropes has a list of fictional characters prescribed to each personality type.
19:16 I also feel like I’m an old person inside. I’m 15 right now but all my friends joke that I was born in the wrong century
Based on prior comments Brandon had made, he is a fan of Dave Bautista's acting. Dan and Brandon should devote an entire episode of Intentionally Blank to review all of Dave Bautista's movies. I want to see what they think of Hotel Artemis. I think that is a very underated movie.
O nein! Our Unterseestahlkugelplan has been discovered!
Dan referencing Deckard Cain was the crossover I didn't know I needed this week. Thanks Dan!
Can anybody tell the page of the test? I know they said it somewhere in the video, but I can't find it anymore 🙈
This became one of my favourite episodes :D
ok I'm predicting before watching the episode :
Brandon Sanderson: INCP
Dan Wells: Aquarius
haha the look on brandon's face when dan says " if we're here in 3 hours answering questions.."
Luna Lovegood deserves her own book, movie, franchise and everything.
Dan should watch Umbrella Academy. I think he'd either love it or hate it and I'd like to hear which it is.
Not so Fast Not so Furious... and have vin in a wheel chair with a steering wheel and shifter REALLY into it, like he is in a race.... but the wheel and shifter are just toys for kids.
Brandon, we've read your books. You are not 99% angelic.
Adoooonalsium
I feel like the part of Brandon's brain that writes Wayne inspired Lift.
"Creepy, nurturing person" is what I would describe Mama that was produced by Guillermo del Toro.
So the really question is, does Brandon know that for the new Lord of the Rings magic set, they made one special copy of The One Ring in black speech and dispersed it out into the wild? And if he does know of this, how does he plan on acquiring it?
I also am curious if that card goes up for auction if Brandon would bid for it
found the test while I listened. got the "The best match between the self assessment you provided and the profile of a fictional character as rated by other people who have taken this survey is the character Ender Wiggin (Ender's Game)." 88% match. Literally had me laughing as I truly appreciate the character.
What is the test? I want to take it
Do you remember what the test was called?
+1 for taking the test for Ben.
To all the programmers here:
Well stacks are only preferable over heaps sometimes.
Fasting and furious: cars, clerics, and nuns
These are two of my favorite people!
“Sarcastic or genuine?” Yes

41:30 I understood that reference
I'm always going to ask Brandon to come help me move now! :)
Oh you feisty Brandon 😂
Dan as old Mulder and Brandon as Ducky 🤌🤌🤌
Hey Sanderfans! Just wanted to say this episode is *non-canon.* Thank you for your cooperation.
So Dan's a game master and Brandon's a mastermind. What a surprise!
Is there a link to this personality test? I love taking these.
Agreed I'd like to know which one it was as well.
Commenting in case someone shares it cuz I want it too
I am a stick ... in the mud
Faust & Furious: A Deal to Die For
You should talk about old fantasy movies like Willow and Labyrinth and Excalibur. Would love to see it.
This episode isn't showing up on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Am I missing something?
Brandon: and the fries are the fries..
Me: What?
Brandon: Yea, the fries that come with the cheeseburger. You didn’t think you get all that for only a dollar fifty but you did-so it’s a food heist.
I would like to demand you take it for Ben too 😄 Where do I find that button?
why is this not on spotify?
Sandersons are not angles, Sandersons are not devils, Sandersons are Sandersons and should be governed as such.
dan says he is handing out quests but i think they are all just food heists.
"I am Deckard Cain" Dan says. I'm playing Diablo 3 as I listen to this! :D
So the professional GM hands out quests to people? Fitting.
The people demand the quiz for Ben!!
Link to this quiz?

I just realized of the ten 7 of them are doctors, two are professors, and one is a genius child.
I found my old list and I got two Sherlock Holmes, both from Sherlock and from elementary, Beth Harmon, Kay Stratford, and I still had ended Wiggins and Dr. strange but he was 9th at 85%. I think the first one I did was more accurate
Which test is this? They didn't say
What test was it?
this was better than expected lol those were some pretty good matches.
i think your guys fast and furious movie idea is the transition movie that links that franchise to the Cars movie franchise :D

I enjoyed that Professor Oak from pokemon and Luna Lovegood ended up on their list. lol
In the first Avengers movie, the council of shady mofos decided to nuke NYC. That's a great scene.

I love the F-ast -urious title! It looks good when I write it out as Brandon suggests.
How about jancie writing a short with Mbot the ship that steals ships ?
The people indeed demand it.
