- After wrecking the @DJI #avata2 for a 2nd time and a good time I will say that this is its major flaw! Not only is it not serviceable by us as consumers but it will void warranties if it is not repaired by DJI. While sipping on some @DutchBrosTV

Agreed. If they want to go with the integrated design idea, at least use more durable plastic. But really, it's a bad choice. Things break in this hobby/profession - that's Rule Number One. Design to repair - that's Rule Two. I think DJI will have replaceable hoops for the Avata 3. They tried an idea, it's not looking like a good one for many users. They'll catch on.
This. Even if you use bumper guards flying into something at 20-3mph will cause the plastic to dent deeming the aircraft not able to fly. Let’s hope they make a change in the next series.
Crashed mine the other day and I did the same thing. With the help of 80 grit sandpaper, elbow grease, and a dream, she's back in the air... for now 😅
Totally agree though. Way too flimsy.
Yeah the unfortunate truth, it’s tooo flimsy. But some of the damages are fairly fixable with some elbow grease lol 😝
Same though here. Prop guard is the most likely part to damage. Bumper guards help nothing and even make it fly worse in some cases so I took mine off.
DJI should make it prop guard replaceable.
Bumper guards make the flight a lot less stable. I agree with the addition of prop guard replacement on the next series should be better.
@@erikduijsens Avata 2 is pretty much unrepairable and i wouldn’t bother buying one if i know this first.
@harley7804 exactly. If I would have known there was no way to repair it I would have just bought an RTF drone from another company. Which I’d probably what I’ll end up doing anyways.
I figured the bumper guards wouldn’t work well for crashes, not to mention aerodynamics.
With the added weight you can tell they are on. They are good for low speed impacts but outdoors I don’t think they would be super durable
The vast majority of Avata 2 claims are people filing a $50 claim to replace $15 worth of cracked plastic. Its quite a racket.
I've had really bad luck with micros though since I got into the hobby. Everything I buy has no electronics in stock when it breaks. So I bought an Avata 2, to have at least 1 drone that doesn't have this issue.
It’s a little absurd I agree. From my understanding the avata 2 is an entry drone that is feature packed. If I wanted a drone that was possible to repair myself I should go a different route. This however is my first FPV so I haven’t gone the route of building my own. But I totally get where you’re coming from!
Biggest flaw is this thing couldnt be under 250g
Imagine if it was 👀 how fragile the drone would be 😆
@@erikduijsens fair enough, but no flying license required!
This is true. Maybe they’ll introduce a lightweight fpv in the future
Could you apply a little heat and bend the prop guard back into place?
I attempted it. What worked with the first impact was sanding down the inner portion of the guard. But this time the impact was too big
@@erikduijsens I just bought one, I will try not to beat it up too badly, but I have never flown FPV, so I don't have high hopes for myself.
@sadiedog5071 congrats! Honestly take it slow. Leave it on normal mode and get a feel for it. I’ve also never flown fpv prior to this!
bro the picture is rl good but u gotta fix the sound. its too quite and i think u should add noise canceling tbh :)
I appreciate the feedback!!!!!
USE BUMPER GUARDS.
Bumper guards would have made no difference on the damage caused by a cement pipe. I have a set of 3D printed bumper guards.
@@erikduijsens Than out maneuver you're fly pattern.
Will do! Only way to do that is practice.
Just crushed a prop guard today
That’s devastating. I haven’t really flown mine since I got it back from DJI
@@erikduijsens Mores disappointing than anything. I tried a high speed turn and it drifted, Wreck was my fault. How it folded up like an accordian was sad,. The Avata at worst may have snapped or cracked in one spot. Avata 2 props= guards are soft as butter,
It truly is, we spend upwards of 1200 on a drone and a slight impact bends the props. My mavic pro 2 has had worse crashes and still can fly. It’s a bummer.
The guard bent in 4 places and snapped off 2 blades
Jesus! Ugh it’s a bummer it’s made so cheaply
They have protective carbon fibre guards available online.
This video was made before carbon guards were available. I still don’t believe that they would protect against an impact but I’m sure they would look nice.
