This is a monumental work that you've just done, Mike. You see I used to look at this Charlie Parker Omnibook and become overwhelmed and scared!!! Now I can say with confidence that since you've done it I will do it. I watched you from day one to sixty because I wanted to get rid of this FEAR for the UNFEARFUL!!! Man, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have just done. Saxophone students are being taught scales, blues acales, modes etc. and nothing of the Jazz language or Bebop language and their fingers appear timid when improvising on Jazz standards and far worse on Bebop. Personally, I wish you do the Tenor Sax next!!! Thanks.
Thank you very much for the kind words! My goal is always to teach, and to share my joy of playing Music with others. I love that you were able to find inspiration in my videos. Makes it all worth it!
Hi Mike. Awesome videos! Amazing playing. I recently took up saxophone and I'm having a go at the Charlie Parker omnibook. It's great to see how they're supposed to sound. You wanted another challenge - how about the John Coltrane omnibook on tenor sax? Regards Natalie from Bromsgrove UK
Thanks Natalie! and, Great idea! I was seriously thinking of taking on some Cannonball next, but we shall see. I need to find more time to put towards practice again. Stay tuned, and keep playing!
This brings me great joy! Glad to help you stay motivated! Keep going! Always try every day! With dedication to practice and listening to others, it can only get better!
thank you , you are amazing , i just try to play this song on my guitar after i saw the original version with coleman hawkins after years ago, now i enjoy it to learn it , even im rock guitarist but its so much fun ,
I bought a Taylor T5Z custom last year, and, man! That would be fun to try some of these on that Guitar! Only one problem: I'm much better at Saxophone than Guitar! I think I will just leave that in your capable hands. Thanks for listening!
@@mike4musik Taylor T5Z custom god damn ... no just try it , its much fun , like i told you im not jazz guitarist , but im having fun to read coleman and charlie music sheet . happiness
Fantastic Great job on Ballade. That 5th measure doesn't add up, I think those first 8 notes should have another line on their beam. I guess its now onto the Cannonball Omnibook......
I have been using a combination of RUclips backing tracks, Jamey Aebersold play-alongs, and Ai-created tracks from the iRealPro app. I had to create a couple on iRealpro as well, when I couldn't find an existing track.
Honestly this last one was the beast of beasts. It took me forever to really internalize how to play the rhythms, even though I was looking at them and listening to them at the same time. I did have to make a couple of corrections on the page in order to make it work though. I practiced this one for three days ahead of time and didn’t record it until I knew every last note and rhythm.
Magnificent series, what great inspiration for others. While I haven't been active for years I enjoyed your performances. I hope to see your channel grow. Why not do some clarinet and flute stuff. Skip the fiddle please. How far upstate are you I'm near Buffalo.

Awesome! Do you get a disc for backing tracks with the book?

Nice work! I’m curious though, out of all his tunes in this book, which one was the most difficult for you?

I'm doing this too but its gonna take years even at a much slower tempo.
Bruh... how about Charlie Parker Omnibook Volume 2?
