East side represent! Truly a great location. 20 minutes to downtown. 30 to theme parks. 10 to the airport and Brightline. Can’t beat it!

I agree, I think it is more about preferences. I live on East Orlando and I prefer this area because there is no tourist around. It actually feels like home, there tons of local owned restaurants, plenty of sports bars, tons of clothing stores, and 408 which makes it easy to commute in Orlando. Downtown only 15 mins away, Millenial Mall 20 mins, Orlando International Airport 20 mins. Very convenient overall.

I have to vote for East Orlando but then I've lived on the east side ever since I came here in '99. First over in the Conway area, then after 2004 we moved to the Lake Nona area (not Lake Nona itself). My youngest was part of the one of the first graduating classes at Lake Nona High school in 2012. We now live over off Wetherbee in a place we bought in 2014. It's growing fast over here. Traffic is increasing. But am away from the theme parks and if we really want to go it doesn't take very long to get there.

Or, one could just split the difference and live in the middle - like the Hunter's Creek area. Easy access to the Atlantic beaches/Space Coast and easy access to the Theme Parks - and I love "not" being downtown. Even Tampa isn't too far with 417 to I-4. My biggest issue with my current abode is just the lot size - you have to pick - pool or yard - but you can't have both.

I have lived both on east side Waterford Lakes and west side Clermont. Traffic is definitely worse in west.
One interesting fact, west side is growing such that it will have much more conveniences compared to east side.
For example, I have 6 Publix in under 10 minutes driving distance from me in Clermont plus I have Aldis, Walmart, Target, BJs, Key Foods, Winnie Dixie all within that 5 mile range. And a Costco coming up soon. I don't know how they all make money being so close to each other.

Hey Ken two questions. As a native Winter Garden resident I was interested a while back when you first mentioned the East Winter Garden redevelopment plan and a new boutique hotel that may be happening in downtown WG. I haven’t seen any news on the past year or more and i was wondering if you have any insight if those are still moving forward?

Statistically speaking, Lake county has also been added into Metro Orlando, not sure why Polk county is included, since it's its own metro area, but it's included into the Combined Statistical Area

West side...........Pine Hills AKA Crime Hills. I was at a block party when Roger Babson came. He was an American entrepreneur, economist, and business theorist in the first half of the 20th century. We had orange groves as far as the eye could see and partied on Old Winter Garbage rd. I still remember seeing debri from Col Mike McCoys B 47 crash in a pasteur near Lee rd in 1957. Ben White Raceway. East side Bithlo..........Drag racing, with cars and motorcycles not the other thing no none of that in Bithlo. In 1973 the 1500 ft TV tower fell and killed two guys. Wont go near orlando now.................
