Thank you for sharing …: ) I have used the Gloss Boss on one of my vehicles and it’s been fantastic. I live in Canada ans our winters are pretty bad where I will update its performance come spring
Jimbo, does the paint still need a light polish to remove any wax/ sealant or can this rustoleum grease and wax remover remove it before any coating is applied?
@autodetailingpodcast awesome. I've been using Turtle wax Graphene Flex wax on my girlfriend s car and my truck. Going to coat her car since i doubt I'll be keeping my truck much longer, so i was just going to do a light polish using a DIY red jeweling pad and some CarPro Reflect and an IPA wipe down.
I am not going to ceramic coat until I buy a new car next year. I know that prep is the most important thing. So how much of a real difference is there between ceramic brands? Or are they all just made by Ceracote? Sorry if you have answered this question before. Thnx.
I haven’t tried it personally. Prep polishes were a thing years ago and never caught on. In theory it’s a good idea, just not sure if it actually does anything more than a panel wipe.
@ Ivan says it’s a different technology from the past and is more for cleaning so that the coating will bond better. Nonetheless I was just asking for your thoughts so thanks for sharing.
@@Ilxdave you mean thanks for blurring things more in the world of detailing - one guy says one thing and the other says another - but ya I get the game, it's each one's "opinion" (that's how they all cover their behind by the way) - what a joke
What level of effort of polishing do you think would be required for a new car? I assume the manufacturers put the minimum effort to apply protection on the cars. Is the process you explained in your video enough to remove the new car “wax”?
DPC coatings Flashback has a minimum 10 min wait till buff off. It is by far the slickest and easiest coating that I've ever worked with.
Gyeon pure and gyeon infinite base type 1 have long working times as well and are also a sio2 base.
i would love to see a comparison on how your coating fills compared to other coatings

What sort of microfiber towels are recommended for the polish wipe, panel prep and leveling?
I usually will use Costco microfibers because I throw them away after.

I’ve found it can go both ways so I usually do a light polish to just make sure.

Perfect plan.

What are your thoughts on using App from DIY details as a prep?

It really will depend on the car. But what’s shown here is enough to remove the new car wax and prep it for coating.
Cerakote recommends a 5 minute wait time before wiping off.
Ya but it gets really hard to remove
Not when I applied it. Very easy wipe off.
same
So if you had your prep you would lie and tell us it must be used with your products only - Nice
No. That’s not what I said.
