  • As a Mexican visual artist living and working in New York, Carlos became deeply curious about the experiences of other Mexican artists who came to this city before him and the legacies they left behind. Pursuing them in the spaces he now inhabits, he has turned to them for creative inspiration at times and questioned how their experiences as immigrants and artists link to his own. This talk, which is part of an ongoing project, will focus on the Mexican muralist and political activist David Alfaro Siqueiros' days in the United States, with particular attention to his time in New York City, where his 1936 Experimental Workshop participants included Harold Lehman and Jackson Pollock.
