I got my Gen 9 for free when I switched carriers. At first I was skeptical because of the vintage and the lightning port but I’ve grown to absolutely love it. It does everything the average user would want in a tablet and reminded me of how I missed the Touch ID and home button. It’s by far the biggest bang for the buck on the market today.

I actually prefer the legacy design with the two larger bezels over the newer design of the iPad 10. That’s because one of my major uses for the iPad is to read e-books on kindle or nook. I read in landscape mode so that gives me a place to hold the tablet without covering up a page or accidentally turning the page. I’m sure that eventually I will switch to the more modern design but I am worried that I won’t like it as much when I’m reading books.
Same. I love the iPad Mini 5 over the mini 6 because of this. It is so nice to use, thinner and lighter and the round edges just feel more comfortable for reading etc. I feel the same about the standard iPad 9. Just very nice to hold

I am a die hard android lover and am quite pleased with my Samsung S6 lite. I decided to buy the iPad 9th generation for christmas and oh my god! The ipad 9 is on another level. This is easily the best tablet I ever had. I can go to the battle net and play diablo with a beautiful picture and no lag or buffering. This tablet is a machine!

Absolutely worth it...the 9th gen. Only issues are with people who have taken notes in a laminated display amd used a 120 Hz refresh rate before. I'm pretty sure, one can adapt to 60 hz RR but not at all to the non laminated display.

@@SonArron Eye strain isnt affected, it just feels less responsive because you're basically just writing on a piece of glass rather than the display itself. Feels less responsive because there is a quite significant gap between the glass and the display itself.
I use it as a laptop replacement with the pencil. I just wish that it had more ram. With the amount times that I need to reload tabs or close down old tabs I need like 6-8gb of ram. The performance is great tho the A13 is great but just needs more memory.
Got this bad boy like a year ago and it has like no problems. But there is 1 minor problem it has a little bend, but it doesnt affect the performance so no stress.
Good job, certainly a great quality budget tablet. Anything under $400 is a budget price. I would like to mention one thing. As far as expandable memory goes, Sandisk makes a combination usb drive, lightning on one end and usb c on the other. Very easy to get files off the iPad and can be used to transfer them to any other device that has usb c port. The 128 gb is $50 at Best Buy. This provides a reasonable alternative to counter Apple’s lack of expandable storage. Just my opinion and you still need $2 to get a cup of coffee at McDonald’s. Keep up the good work Ivan

My iPad gen 6 stated to be long on the tooth and the battery was starting to give out. Look at the 9th and 10th, since I only surf and watch vid I went for the 9th with 256G to locally store my vid. It was a great buy considering the price difference, the 10th wasn't worth the extra for sure.
Hey Ivan this is Nicolaz here. About 2 months ago I traded in my galaxy tab a8 and got me the iPad 9. And it is a whole lot better than the 2 budget galaxy tablets I had. The battery life is a lot better too. I get 15 hours of screen time. Then a month later I bought a refurbished iPhone 8 Plus from Amazon Renew. I am now in the apple echosystem and I love it. By the way my ipad 9 is not from Amazon Renewed I brought it brand new from Best Buy. Take Care.

My iPad Pro 12.9 died after 7 years and I'm thinking of buying an Android tablet, I especially like the OnePlus, but all my hardware is Apple hardware as I spent six years of my life in that company and of course worked with their products. For someone from the Mac or iOS, iPad world, it's actually the ideal solution, especially since you can connect your devices without any problems, but on the other hand, I find that Android devices are somehow more innovative - at least my impression -. I will probably go for the iPad 9 and hopefully it will last over 7 years. Keep up the great work!

Was so looking forward to finally having another Android tablet again (the last one I loved was the Song Xperia Tablet S), but due to specific app optimization, had to settle for an iPad instead of getting the Samsung Tab S8 256GB I saw for a great deal. Didn't want to spend a lot of money on an iPad; last time I did (an Apple-refurbished Pro 10.5 512GB), it lasted about 2-1/2 years before major problems set in (touch screen responsiveness issues, startup loops, etc.). (What's it matter if the software is updated for 6-8 years if the hardware only lasts 2?) This 9th Gen. 10.2 feels levels below that 2017 Pro for sure, but the apps I mainly need on a tablet set up just as well on the 9th Gen. This video makes me feel better about choosing to settle with an iPad 9 256GB. Loving your updates and comparisons, btw. The ones I've seen thus far seem clear and thorough without being over-the-top techy. Speaks to my just-an-everyday-userness.

I want to get my mom a new iPad for her birthday and she uses it for casual web browsing and light gaming (Candy Crush and Solitaire) so I was really unsure whether it was worth it to get the newest gen or not. I brought ipad 9th gen very recently, not even one month done, i updated it to ios16.5, all my apps are struck. Keynote doesn't open, notes app is unable to copy anything gets struck, books app coles all by itself. Please help what to do.
I'll tell you the iPad 10th gen is real nice and now it can be had for $399.00. I love mine and well worth the extra $100.00 over the iPad 9th Gen. You get the A14 Bionic chip, 10.9 inch screen and great chassis, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual stereo speakers that sound great, Better WiFi system and better updates for years to come. USB type C charging and I like it better then the Air 5!
@@mintleafieI actually bought both to compare and the Air 5 had a flimsy backing plate that was thin and buckled in my hands and it caused speaker buzz and vibration. The Gen 10 has a more solid and robust chassis and Bluetooth 5.2, Landscape forward facing camera and Bluetooth 5.2. I also like the Beefy Double screen. They are both nice units but I liked the new 10th Gen more.
The air 5 is a much better device (regardéess of any specific issues with a given unit), with the M1, which has double the RAM, will be supported for much longer and above all gets features (like full stage manager) and supports pro apps (Final Cut, full Davinci etc.) that non M iPads won't have. It has pencil 2 support, much faster UBS C data transfer (iPad 10 has USB 2.0) and better speakers. The only real advantage of the 10 is the camera placement.
@@_DigitalguyI tried both and I liked the 10 better than the Air5. The Air5 does not have better speakers... they sound buzzy because of the 5's flimsy backing plate and thin build which actually buckles in your hands. The 10th gen will be supported just as long and has better connectivity with Bluetooth 5.2 whereas the Air5 is 5.0. My iPad 10 was $200.00 cheaper and I like the beefier robust chassis better and the speakers don't buzz and rattle like they do in the Air5 which is an old dog that's been around for many years now and has been revised a few times. I actually prefer the beefy design of the double screen as it is easier to swipe on and clean. The Air5 laminated screen had a little more traction resistance when swiping and didn't clean as easy. $399.00 vs $599.00 at the time a year ago when I got it was my reason for picking the Gen 10. Now you can get the Air5 for $499.00 which is a great deal. Certainly I understand the Air5 is the more powerful unit with the M1chip but I just use my I pad for web surfing, RUclips surfing and watching movies so it suits me fine. I did try the Air 5 but I was bothered by the thin buckling backing plate and the speakers sounded a little buzzy to me. But I think they are both great units. Actually my favorite is the iPad Pro but I didn't feel like spending $799.00 on and iPad. I figured the iPad 10th Gen for $399.00 will get me by for 2 to 3 years and then I will trade it in for a new device.
Just wish the Ipad 9th gen had USB - C. Would have definitely topped it up for my decision. Still thinking Lenovo P11 Pro Gen 2 could be a good contender, but worried about longevity. I have a 9 year old Ipad Air 1st Gen and its still kicking and being used often, so Apple is pricey (which kills me when I first buy it) but does seem to last long (but battery life is also not great with Apple it seems)
Lightning is not pretty speedy, that’s just true but it still offers a lot of features like otg usb, external screen support (lightning and wireless with airplay) and of cause external storage support… Everything you need is a adapter or dock to get all the needed connections… So lightning can already everything usb can just slower… And if you now buy a usb c or lightning dock makes no difference in the real world, in both cases you need an adapter to connect your stuff and both solutions are everything but not cheap… So it makes really no difference without you need the higher speeds usb c offers but even then it doesn’t help you to buy a iPad 10 cause this has just usb 2.0 support as well, for higher speed you need at least an iPad Air 5 or Pro with at least m1 chipset…
I'm torn between getting ipad air 5 or ipad 9th gen. I'll only be using it for streaming videos, reading documentation, watching netflix or YT, and gaming (Genshin impact or Arknights or PUBG). I'm not a content creator nor will I ever be so won't be rendering videos or editing videos on the machine. Right now the prices for the ipads in our area is $480 USD Ipad air 5th gen vs $300 Ipad air 9th gen. Which do you recommend?
Either way is not only fine but great for that as you know the iPhone 11 is still a very powerful phone that's the same chip inside of the 9 and the M1 is in the air 5 yes it's much more powerful that being said both are amazing for ur needs
Do note that you should think about the storage you should opt for too, 64GB will fill up easily specially if you're going to play Genshin for quite a while. I suggest you save for the Air all in all though, M1 is just a no brainer and will last longer as time passes by due to it being more powerful.

im starting university (aerospace engineering) and really want an ipad for uni (never had one before, shared a dingy ipad 2 with whole family when I was a kid). Is apple ipad 9 fine for things like note taking (goodnotes), youtube, possibly netflix/disney+, safari searching, video editing (capcut most likely), pdf annotating (lecture slides etc)? These are the main purposes I'd use my ipad for. Also what storage capacity would yall recommend? For context too, I have an apple m1 laptop from 2020 (bought 2023), and will be getting an iphone 15 soon (my iphone 7 is on its last legs but is a soldier).

Id say no because its not often that ipads/tablets have issues. I had a tablet (samsung) since 2016 and it still works perfectly (just slow since its been a few years). Ive only had to repair the screen once because my mum sat on it. Other than that i neever had to repair it, so an ipad should be relatively the same

It’s a 2021 Ipad & think a-lot of people don’t understand that. The 2020 Ipad 8th gen is slowing down it uses a 2017 chipset that isnt supported on iPhones anymore. The promise is 5 years of support. This ipad will most likely be supported till 2026. You might want to spend your money on the 10th gen when it’s on sale, for longer support.
@@anywaytechreview since it has the A13 chipset in the Ipad 9. Im not really sure. I could see this ipad being just 5 years of support, once lightening is 100% phased out on apple products. It has been removed from the lineup & the SE 2022 will be removed this year as well. So it will be rather interesting to see how Ipad OS translates down the line.

I can’t work on this and definitely don’t recommend this to buy in 2024 bc of ram when I work or creating some presentation after couple of minutes the whole system is starting to lagging and crashing so in 2024 there are soo many different variants of tablet u can buy for the same price

@@oleksii8431 The 9 will also be supported at least 1 year longer, and you can still buy the 9 new, it's almost impossible to buy the Air 3 new. IMO, I would rather have new and a longer supported device over a device that the only plus is the laminated display. You might also find the 9 new cheaper than the Air 3 used.
If you want to save money older iPads are everytime worth a look… For example I get an iPad 5 as second device (next to my iPad Air 4) and it’s great for the 80€ I paid for it… Sure it’s just the base model Wi-Fi with 32gb, has already a dent in a corner and some scratches but it still has 84% battery health (on normal usage still years to the border where it will get issues) and it works just fine without any issues… The performance is still great in most situations and it still has support for all important stuff even on iPadOS updates… So it don’t need to be any time the newest, for a lot of people who are in for an cheap Tablet that do daily workload it’s still a very good option and way cheaper as most android devices in the same performance class… It’s still on part or even better like a Samsung galaxy a8 (way better then this) or the Lenovo p11 or p11 plus (better and pretty much same performance like p11 plus) and just take a look how much this devices cost… The iPad 5 is easy to get for something between 80-120$, so already quit cheaper for more or less the same without software, on iPad is clear that it will only get security updates when iPadOS 17 hits the market so it will not get any new iOS update any longer… But I think that’s not an big issue cause it will still get a couple of years security and minor updates what will be enough to run it this years further without any issues… And when we come to devices which are in the same pricerange like this android tablets we are on devices like iPad 6 (with higher and highest specs), iPad 7 (with higher specs), iPad 8 (at least more then base storage), iPad 9 (base model) or even pro 1st gen (higher end highest specs) and 2nd gen (base or maybe more storage or cellular) in the used market and all this devices will offer even more then the iPad 5 dose… So it’s still the case, the biggest issues for new iPads are just old iPads cause they survive so long, they are just the new MacBooks…

Hey Ivan this is Nicolaz here. About 2 months ago I traded in my galaxy tab a8 and got me the iPad 9. And it is a whole lot better than the 2 budget galaxy tablets I had. The battery life is a lot better too. I get 15 hours of screen time. Then a month later I bought a refurbished iPhone 8 Plus from Amazon Renew. I am now in the apple echosystem and I love it. By the way my ipad 9 is not from Amazon Renewed I brought it brand new from Best Buy. Take Care.

My iPad Pro 12.9 died after 7 years and I'm thinking of buying an Android tablet, I especially like the OnePlus, but all my hardware is Apple hardware as I spent six years of my life in that company and of course worked with their products. For someone from the Mac or iOS, iPad world, it's actually the ideal solution, especially since you can connect your devices without any problems, but on the other hand, I find that Android devices are somehow more innovative - at least my impression -. I will probably go for the iPad 9 and hopefully it will last over 7 years. Keep up the great work!

Was so looking forward to finally having another Android tablet again (the last one I loved was the Song Xperia Tablet S), but due to specific app optimization, had to settle for an iPad instead of getting the Samsung Tab S8 256GB I saw for a great deal. Didn't want to spend a lot of money on an iPad; last time I did (an Apple-refurbished Pro 10.5 512GB), it lasted about 2-1/2 years before major problems set in (touch screen responsiveness issues, startup loops, etc.). (What's it matter if the software is updated for 6-8 years if the hardware only lasts 2?) This 9th Gen. 10.2 feels levels below that 2017 Pro for sure, but the apps I mainly need on a tablet set up just as well on the 9th Gen. This video makes me feel better about choosing to settle with an iPad 9 256GB.
Loving your updates and comparisons, btw. The ones I've seen thus far seem clear and thorough without being over-the-top techy. Speaks to my just-an-everyday-userness.

Ipad 9 is absolutely worth it.
There's 2 types of ipad 9th generation for storage you can buy. There's the 64gb and the 256 gb. I got the 256gb.

I want to get my mom a new iPad for her birthday and she uses it for casual web browsing and light gaming (Candy Crush and Solitaire) so I was really unsure whether it was worth it to get the newest gen or not. She's currently using a 16 GB 1st gen iPad Air so I'm sure any upgrade would be better than what she has, but I'm glad to know that I can save some money by getting the 9th gen.

I brought ipad 9th gen very recently, not even one month done, i updated it to ios16.5, all my apps are struck. Keynote doesn't open, notes app is unable to copy anything gets struck, books app coles all by itself. Please help what to do.

I'll tell you the iPad 10th gen is real nice and now it can be had for $399.00. I love mine and well worth the extra $100.00 over the iPad 9th Gen. You get the A14 Bionic chip, 10.9 inch screen and great chassis, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual stereo speakers that sound great, Better WiFi system and better updates for years to come. USB type C charging and I like it better then the Air 5!

@@mintleafieI actually bought both to compare and the Air 5 had a flimsy backing plate that was thin and buckled in my hands and it caused speaker buzz and vibration. The Gen 10 has a more solid and robust chassis and Bluetooth 5.2, Landscape forward facing camera and Bluetooth 5.2. I also like the Beefy Double screen. They are both nice units but I liked the new 10th Gen more.
The air 5 is a much better device (regardéess of any specific issues with a given unit), with the M1, which has double the RAM, will be supported for much longer and above all gets features (like full stage manager) and supports pro apps (Final Cut, full Davinci etc.) that non M iPads won't have. It has pencil 2 support, much faster UBS C data transfer (iPad 10 has USB 2.0) and better speakers. The only real advantage of the 10 is the camera placement.
@@_DigitalguyI tried both and I liked the 10 better than the Air5. The Air5 does not have better speakers... they sound buzzy because of the 5's flimsy backing plate and thin build which actually buckles in your hands. The 10th gen will be supported just as long and has better connectivity with Bluetooth 5.2 whereas the Air5 is 5.0. My iPad 10 was $200.00 cheaper and I like the beefier robust chassis better and the speakers don't buzz and rattle like they do in the Air5 which is an old dog that's been around for many years now and has been revised a few times. I actually prefer the beefy design of the double screen as it is easier to swipe on and clean. The Air5 laminated screen had a little more traction resistance when swiping and didn't clean as easy. $399.00 vs $599.00 at the time a year ago when I got it was my reason for picking the Gen 10. Now you can get the Air5 for $499.00 which is a great deal. Certainly I understand the Air5 is the more powerful unit with the M1chip but I just use my I pad for web surfing, RUclips surfing and watching movies so it suits me fine. I did try the Air 5 but I was bothered by the thin buckling backing plate and the speakers sounded a little buzzy to me. But I think they are both great units. Actually my favorite is the iPad Pro but I didn't feel like spending $799.00 on and iPad. I figured the iPad 10th Gen for $399.00 will get me by for 2 to 3 years and then I will trade it in for a new device.

Just wish the Ipad 9th gen had USB - C. Would have definitely topped it up for my decision. Still thinking Lenovo P11 Pro Gen 2 could be a good contender, but worried about longevity. I have a 9 year old Ipad Air 1st Gen and its still kicking and being used often, so Apple is pricey (which kills me when I first buy it) but does seem to last long (but battery life is also not great with Apple it seems)
Lightning is not pretty speedy, that’s just true but it still offers a lot of features like otg usb, external screen support (lightning and wireless with airplay) and of cause external storage support…
Everything you need is a adapter or dock to get all the needed connections…
So lightning can already everything usb can just slower…
And if you now buy a usb c or lightning dock makes no difference in the real world, in both cases you need an adapter to connect your stuff and both solutions are everything but not cheap…
So it makes really no difference without you need the higher speeds usb c offers but even then it doesn’t help you to buy a iPad 10 cause this has just usb 2.0 support as well, for higher speed you need at least an iPad Air 5 or Pro with at least m1 chipset…
Just to tell you, have a Lightning/usb-c adapter. Now it connects Trough usb-c hubs and everything… easy fix
My ipad 9 can easily obtain 15 hours of battery life, so i dont see anything bad of it.

I'm torn between getting ipad air 5 or ipad 9th gen.
I'll only be using it for streaming videos, reading documentation, watching netflix or YT, and gaming (Genshin impact or Arknights or PUBG).
I'm not a content creator nor will I ever be so won't be rendering videos or editing videos on the machine.
Right now the prices for the ipads in our area is $480 USD Ipad air 5th gen vs $300 Ipad air 9th gen.
Which do you recommend?
Either way is not only fine but great for that as you know the iPhone 11 is still a very powerful phone that's the same chip inside of the 9 and the M1 is in the air 5 yes it's much more powerful that being said both are amazing for ur needs
if you can afford it get the air for over double the RAM (much less reloads of tabs and apps)
Go for air5, genshin is not that smooth in 9th gen
Do note that you should think about the storage you should opt for too, 64GB will fill up easily specially if you're going to play Genshin for quite a while. I suggest you save for the Air all in all though, M1 is just a no brainer and will last longer as time passes by due to it being more powerful.

im starting university (aerospace engineering) and really want an ipad for uni (never had one before, shared a dingy ipad 2 with whole family when I was a kid). Is apple ipad 9 fine for things like note taking (goodnotes), youtube, possibly netflix/disney+, safari searching, video editing (capcut most likely), pdf annotating (lecture slides etc)? These are the main purposes I'd use my ipad for. Also what storage capacity would yall recommend? For context too, I have an apple m1 laptop from 2020 (bought 2023), and will be getting an iphone 15 soon (my iphone 7 is on its last legs but is a soldier).
iPad is great for all of that just make sure to get 256gb

Id say no because its not often that ipads/tablets have issues. I had a tablet (samsung) since 2016 and it still works perfectly (just slow since its been a few years). Ive only had to repair the screen once because my mum sat on it. Other than that i neever had to repair it, so an ipad should be relatively the same

It’s a 2021 Ipad & think a-lot of people don’t understand that. The 2020 Ipad 8th gen is slowing down it uses a 2017 chipset that isnt supported on iPhones anymore. The promise is 5 years of support.
This ipad will most likely be supported till 2026.
You might want to spend your money on the 10th gen when it’s on sale, for longer support.

@@anywaytechreview since it has the A13 chipset in the Ipad 9. Im not really sure. I could see this ipad being just 5 years of support, once lightening is 100% phased out on apple products. It has been removed from the lineup & the SE 2022 will be removed this year as well. So it will be rather interesting to see how Ipad OS translates down the line.

In general, no, but there’s a few select people for whom it is.
I can’t work on this and definitely don’t recommend this to buy in 2024 bc of ram when I work or creating some presentation after couple of minutes the whole system is starting to lagging and crashing so in 2024 there are soo many different variants of tablet u can buy for the same price

@@oleksii8431 The 9 will also be supported at least 1 year longer, and you can still buy the 9 new, it's almost impossible to buy the Air 3 new. IMO, I would rather have new and a longer supported device over a device that the only plus is the laminated display. You might also find the 9 new cheaper than the Air 3 used.

If you want to save money older iPads are everytime worth a look…
For example I get an iPad 5 as second device (next to my iPad Air 4) and it’s great for the 80€ I paid for it…
Sure it’s just the base model Wi-Fi with 32gb, has already a dent in a corner and some scratches but it still has 84% battery health (on normal usage still years to the border where it will get issues) and it works just fine without any issues…
The performance is still great in most situations and it still has support for all important stuff even on iPadOS updates…
So it don’t need to be any time the newest, for a lot of people who are in for an cheap Tablet that do daily workload it’s still a very good option and way cheaper as most android devices in the same performance class…
It’s still on part or even better like a Samsung galaxy a8 (way better then this) or the Lenovo p11 or p11 plus (better and pretty much same performance like p11 plus) and just take a look how much this devices cost…
The iPad 5 is easy to get for something between 80-120$, so already quit cheaper for more or less the same without software, on iPad is clear that it will only get security updates when iPadOS 17 hits the market so it will not get any new iOS update any longer…
But I think that’s not an big issue cause it will still get a couple of years security and minor updates what will be enough to run it this years further without any issues…
And when we come to devices which are in the same pricerange like this android tablets we are on devices like iPad 6 (with higher and highest specs), iPad 7 (with higher specs), iPad 8 (at least more then base storage), iPad 9 (base model) or even pro 1st gen (higher end highest specs) and 2nd gen (base or maybe more storage or cellular) in the used market and all this devices will offer even more then the iPad 5 dose…
So it’s still the case, the biggest issues for new iPads are just old iPads cause they survive so long, they are just the new MacBooks…
