Oh man it hurts watching someone new to this game lol
You’re off to a good start though, nice work so far!
    Some tips:
Don’t bother with high speed rail over short distances, it’s really expensive. For your current purposes tram track should do fine.
Keep an eye on the “train full” number in the accounting tab, it’s a good measure for when you should add more or longer trains
Your stations have a limited passenger capacity. You can increase this by drawing another platform the same way you built the first one. If they’re close enough together the game registers them as the same station. This also lets you run more trains through the station.
There’s a map icon on the top right, the window it opens has an option to add a population density filter. This is useful for planning where you want your stations.
When you build a track junction, you need add signals to prevent collisions (which cost money). Signals are a huge pain but I think you only need two types. Zoom in until you can see both tracks. Place a “path signal” on the side of the track going toward the junction, with the light pointing away from it, and a “block balise” on the side of the track going away from the junction. Make sure it’s far enough from the crossing for a full train to fit.
“Buildings” are basically stamps and have no gameplay purpose but they’re fun for detailing your stations and making them look nice
    Looking forward to more videos!

I bought this game a week ago and I've already fallen in love with it!
    Tips:
The high-speed track tunnels are extremely expensive. I recommend the tram track instead. The thing with tram track/rail is that it can cross roads with no problems. So you won't need to go underground.

15:00 You're litterally using 350 km/h rail lines for distances between stations where trains are gonna at best reach 120, no wonder you're paying millions over millions for it.
*Okay, there are 2+ km between each stop, so perhaps 140 km/h.

I love this game and I love people doing actual playthroughs like this.
I've always either gone for larger-scale, less detailed builds; but I would imagine that you can do both to an extent so long as you stave off the burnout of actually building and grinding for money (I always just play sandbox so I don't have to let it run).
If you made a decent metro in bigger cities like NYC (or Boston/Washington if you continue outside), then make commuter/regional rail hitting once or twice in a city, I'd imagine that'd be a decent way to do it.

  • @solaracrafts

To get a good understanding of New York's Metro, take a look at maps! The longest line is the A, which goes from Rockaway Beach (Queens) to Brooklyn to Manhattan.

Hahaha as a NYC tour guide and resident, I really enjoyed watching this! It's interesting to see how you chose the stops and routes! The first station you built is actually just about the first station built in the city!! (Also, our rates were just bumped up to $2.90 per ride recently so you're very close to the actual prices as well!)

I live in NYC. You asked if real live subway lines are longer than your Coney Island line. Yes, the F line for example starts in eastern Queens and runs via Manhattan to Coney Island. I’d say it’s roughly double the length.
