One wire goes to each filament. It really shouldn’t matter which filament is being used for the blinker. But the ground needs to be to the ground. Also, if you’re using LED’s, they don’t have the resistance to set off the blinker relay. So you will just get lights on all the time. So be sure you’re using conventional light bulbs. They sell resistors of you want to convert to LED.

What happens if you connect the wires wrong ? I connected mine and they just stay lit no blinking. I changed the relays and grounded them also

For me on the aftermarket I had to flip two wires to get it to work yellow with brown ,brown with blue.
