Looking forward to this!! I how all the changes and adjustments work out!! I love to see the progression of experiencing, researching, adjusting, and succeeding!!
@@jasonwish- 😀 Awesome!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks for checking it out! 🤜🤛 Ya Darwin is almost TOO easy. I still had viewers who didn't know who he was though!!
I love these kinds if food videos! Not something I'd personally be needing but finding all these different options like the oil, butter & nut packets are great to hear about!
Thanks Billy! The Tailwind really helps and I forgot to take it on my last trip to the Virginia Triple Crown and I could definitely tell a difference...I was whooped!
Looks pretty solid this time around. Your food videos are as thorough and detailed as some of the best out there. Sounds like a heck of a challenge. No doubt you’ll do just fine. Happy Trails
Thanks Mark! For the most part things worked out as I had planned other than about a day and a half of stomach distress, it’s amazing how much you learn each time you do this.
Thanks for the great info. Next time I go canoeing, camping I have some great litewgt options. Salt tablets are really retro. I used to hand them out at summer stadium 90+ deg rock concerts to ppl about to pass out. Best of luck to you on the trek!
Hi Bill, anything that I couldn't find at my local Kroger or Wallmart I picked up at Wholefoods, Trader Joes and Roadrunner Sports, which is just a running store that carries energy gels, bars, electorlytes and things like that. REI also carries a decent supply as well. Hope that helps.
I did a backpacking caribou hunting trip last September to the Alaskan tundra with about 2 pounds of food per day. I researched and studied and dehydrated most of my own meals and had it really dialed in and found that I had more food than I needed. It was grueling, but probably not quite as hard as your trip.
Sounds like an amazing trip! It’s amazing how many calories your body can burn during something like that. We have a commercial freeze dryer now, so making my own food is much easier now. Freeze dried meals are outrageously expensive, thanks for the comment.
@@jasonwish- Wow, you remembered me! Thanks! once your subscribers started soaring I figured I would give others a shot at commenting on your videos. But you never lost me, I am still amazed at all you have accomplished and yet still have time to enjoy the great outdoors and better yet, make the time to share your adventures with others! Thanks again! Rick From Virginia
Not sure what else you could have had to be prepared. Sounds like a great list! Giving me some ideas for some future multi day stuff I plan on doing! Did you have different flavors for your dinners and snacks to reduce flavor fatigue or stick to your favorites?
Yes, I had three different peak refuel dinners that I mixed up throughout the week. And different flavors of honey stinger waffles and muir energy gels. I always think that I’m taking things that I will enjoy eating but once you get on the trail sometimes things change and this time for me it was the coconut and macadamia nut mixture and the nut butters, they were really hard for me to eat when I wasn’t feeling well.
Looks like you're going to have a good time on this one And I'm glad that they you're going to have the colonel helping you out here for the supported part and maybe a couple of your family members if things go wrong hoping they don't I just hope you remember to pack your rain suit because it's going to be needed As usual exit video and I wish you all the luck
Just throwing it out there Jason, for stomach issues nothing comes close to peregoric solution than Jagermeister. Maybe a simple but helpful tool for the belly. Best of luck on your trek brother! Cheers!
It worked out fairly well, but have definitely modified things quite a bit over the last few years… it’s definitely a learning process that continues to improve with experience.
Congratulations Jason! I enjoyed all of the parts to make your FKT and was amazed at your perseverance, strength, and faith. What an accomplishment! I also have stomach issues on fastpacking trips and was wondering if the two types of broth packets helped you?
Thank you Jamie! Well, I ended up not even trying them out and I can't remember for the life of me why I didn't! I ended up just taking a few ginger tablets, chewing some ginger gum and a few Tums tablets. The broth packets could have made a big difference...dumb move on my part!
I’m a wrapper freak and always remove them prior so I’m not carrying a big bag of trash around. For example I take the Stingers and place them all unwrapped in a single sandwich bag knowing I had 2 per day. Says time not having to unwrap and toss in a trash ziplock. I eat out of the same packet for my dinners as well by rinsing them out. Losing all those large meal packs may save some weight/space. Wishing all goes Well! Planning a 45 mile day myself so this is motivating.
There are plenty of resupply options along the Sheltowee but since I am going unsupported I am not allowed do use them, this is part of the challenge. Thanks Thomas!
Honey packets would have been a great addition, I have used honey stinger gels in the past and I really like the way they taste but they’re only about 100 cal per ounce so it’s kind of heavy compared to other high calorie foods but the easy digestion part of it definitely makes it worth it.
Are you going to do the f.k.t again Jason I remember you saying you going to do some things different on it. I hope you bring you some company with you. This time I would do it for fun take your time on it.
Good luck Jason!
Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Thanks Steve. my wrappers bags and trash ended up weighing 1.5 pounds when I got home.
Is there are no resupply option available so that you have to carry all this food. Nice food preparation. 👍
It’s an unsupported attempt - so not under these conditions.
There are plenty of resupply options along the Sheltowee but since I am going unsupported I am not allowed do use them, this is part of the challenge. Thanks Thomas!
Hello Jason, What about honey packets? Light weight and easy to digest and has a good amount of calories.
Honey packets would have been a great addition, I have used honey stinger gels in the past and I really like the way they taste but they’re only about 100 cal per ounce so it’s kind of heavy compared to other high calorie foods but the easy digestion part of it definitely makes it worth it.
Can you add links to all things mentioned?
I will soon, just returned from FKT.
What smartwatch you using
