Jon, Supertramp will surprize you just an amazing band. Even in the Quietest moments Album 1977 Is one you can put on and listen to every cut... The title cut, downstresm, Ohh Fool's Overture Is one of my favs. Look forward to more feactions. Cheers
John's saxophone has such cut in this song. He's a local lad so we are rather proud of him. He used to play a small club here with his mates. Sadly I never saw Supertramp live.
Have seen Supertramp five times and they are a so underrated act. Crime of the Century, Even in the Quietest Moments and Breakfast in America are three of the best recorded LPs ever. They are right up there with Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, Queen, The Beatles,The Eagles and a few more as rock legends
I am also a guitar player, but Supertramp is one of my all time favourite groups. They are basically a keyboard driven band, but one of the guys plays a lot of beautiful guitar parts in many of the songs. Supertramp is to keyboards, what Pink Floyd is to guitars. They are my two top favourites of all time. Good reaction.👍🇨🇦
Roger Hodgson is Supertamp's master on guitar (he likes the 12-string acoustic the best), but on this song he plays keyboards. His style of playing the piano is with chords, as if he played the guitar. His partner, Rick Davis, is the master at the piano, mastering jazz and all types of improvisations.
Masterpiece by Supertramp, or rather, Roger Hodgson, who is the composer and the one who sings this song on the keyboard. I think it is his best song of all time and he has composed many very good songs with Supertramp and alone. I recommend "give a little bit" or "Even in the quietest moments" to hear Roger's 12-string guitar.
Supertramp is one of the greats. Easily one of top 5 most popular bands in the 70s. They give a mix of rock, pop, and jazz. Some other great songs by them: Goodbye Stranger, The Long Way Home, Give A Little Bit, School, Crime of the Century, and Bloody Well Right. Also, there's two different people in the band who sing lead on various songs. So don't be surprised if a song sounds a lot different!
This is what I grew up with. It’s actually from the first album I ever bought with my own money. It always comes as a shock when musicians don’t know these songs, but then I remember I’m old as hell, and not everyone has lived my life. 😂 I enjoy your reactions, keep it up.
I'm going to age myself and this song. I was that young man that just turned 18 driving around listening to "Breakfast in America" cassette in my car. Nas-T tenor sax.
Just discovered your channel. Glad you enjoyed Supertramp, really innovative band. you must checlk out Steve Hackett, either solo or with early Genesis. A truly astonishing guitarist, up there with Allan Holdsworth as one of the true greats. (He was also using tapping years before Eddie Van Halen started using it!!)
This song is less political than a response of the writer to being sent away to boarding school to be indoctrinated into a society that lost it's wonder in the life all around us. It's about the loss of youthful innocence in favor of being prepared for a good paying vocation. Please, please tell me what we've learned!
I knew them from their first 3albums and so I was - and still am - disappointed by what came after. They were more successful with this song and stuff like Raining Again. Before that they were much better. But financial success has a price.

I love this album, and I've played it hundreds of times. It's from the era when artists made albums that were intended to be played in their entirety.
Great seventies band and this was a favourite of mine.

zep, stones, eagles, skynard, pink floyd, sabbath, the who, kiss, aerosmith, chicago, queen, fleetwood mac..... but sure Supertramp is top 5 lol
@@ryanzeigler9763 Of those groups he mentions, only Stones, Pink Floyd, Queen and Kiss overshadowed Supertramp.

"School".
Don't know why you didn't go for the promo video version.
"Crime of the Century".
1977
Maybe a song where Roger is playing guitar would be better since the host is a guitar player
"Rudy".

Funny..they said they sang back then…they’ll be calling you a liberal..now it is ash backwards. 😂

All of the songs are very different from each other. You need to do that before you make a final judgment on this band.
This is RUclips NOT Youaudio Where's the video ?. Shame on the mess
