Turkeys are cool, turkeys are wicked
An every turkey has a Mum.

It could be yu mate, an not on your plate
Say, Yo! Turkey I’m on your side.
I got lots of friends who are turkeys
An all of dem fear christmas time,
Dey wanna enjoy it, dey say humans destroyed it
An humans are out of dere mind,
Yeah, I got lots of friends who are turkeys
Dey all hav a right to a life,
Not to be caged up an genetically made up
By any farmer an his wife.
Turkeys just wanna play reggae

I love that you have a cat named Rita. My mom's name is Reta.(same pronounciation) She has been in hospital since the last week of November. She was critically ill at the beginning, 10% kidney function. She was content to spend Christmas in heaven, God wasn't ready yet and has been helping with recovery. She will have 93rd Birthday Jan 11. She has gone from cardiac care to Geriatric re-hab. She has only 1 visitor allowed on this unit but my brother is doing well with her. I've been sick for 3 wks having started a new once a week insulin, I'm done with it since it is making me so ill and the side effects are numerous & more than I expected. I'm glad your Rita is stepping in for your Norma, mom had a friend Norma & a cousin Sadie. Mom said for years all she wanted for Christmas was a turkey dinner. She has a heart that feels compassion for the needy and homeless in our community & donates to the meals made for them thru the year. She asked that we donate in her honour instead of spending more on gifts for her. Feed them a Christmas dinner. We will give her new slippers as well. She is not doing well with hospital food as it is bland at best & not very hot. So, she had turkey dinner from home, & turkey sandwich for 2 days from home. She loves the cabbage soups on Mondays. She is getting stronger & wants to go home on her own again. That will be determined at a later date by Drs. She is of good cheer and doing physio gratefully. You are looking a lot healthier yourself, I have been noticing lately, I'm glad. You will have an excellent family Christmas & fun with Agnes. We had family Christmas on the 24th with our 3 children, 2 spouses & 1 grandson, Vaughn, 10 mos old. He is so adorable, very much loved, calm & happy. His parents are devoted to his being well adjusted. We have seen him very little with the covid restrictions. Short visits interrupted by naps. He responds well to us & we enter his space gradually. He comes for lap time readily. A 2 hour drive up and back, makes for a long day. Our eldest daughter did the return trip driving in the dark. We did gift exchange which is fun. They are in early years and are being wise spenders which is fine. Some special chocolates from one and a roast of deer meat, venison, from our son's first deer. I crocheted pocketed shawls for the young ladies, they didn't model them but that's ok. Time together is the gift I like best. Sharing baked treats too. The men like their sweets. That is my space. Wishing you and yours a healthy 2022! God bless us one and all!

It’s Christmas Day here in Australia and I opened my box. It was so lovely to see all the gifts for real, remembering all the videos where we were able to see how everything was made and the other people involved. Martha drawing the goose, John taking the photos, the beautiful print of the cat, the amazing Christmas tree, the candles. Loved your stories, especially ‘The Kiss on the Train’. Because of ill health I’ve been isolating for over 7 months, I can’t tell you how much the box meant to me to have to open on Christmas morn. Made my day. Just the one gift, but your gift. Thank you Kate. I’m often on the lime green sofa, I’m passing along gingerbread moose. Enjoy!

Thank you for the poem. I have a turkey, and lots of other animals. The turkey came about 5 years ago in my garden and I discover that he was from a neighbour. I went to him and told him he could catch the turkey in the evening. The turkeys brother was already in the freezer (not mine) and my neighbour tried to catch the turkey. Didn't worked. A few days later he told me: maybe it is better you keep the turkey. I called him Frederique and yes, he knows his name. He is big, but very lovely. Never knew that about turkeys. He will not be the Christmas diner, thanksgiving diner or whatever diner. He stay with me as long as he wants, he can fly. I wish you and the cats and the other animals (and your family of course) a very good Christmas. See your video New Years eve.

Kate, I loved that poem! I was giggling, as you read it, with the delightful smells of my turkey being baked in the oven filling the room. hehe We're having our big dinner this evening. My husband is a shift worker, and he will be on nights starting tomorrow. We are very limited as to who we can be in contact with, right now, so it will just be my husband, our son and me for dinner. I was so sorry to hear you lost Norma, she looked so like my cat Missy whom ii rescued just before lockdown last March when us oldies were told to stay indoors. My companion of 21 years TIGER I lost in 2019 and he left a whole in my heart I thought would never be filled, then I got Missy after her elderly owners were to ill to look after her. She is a joy and I do jot know how I would have coped through all the madness of the past 2 years. I do so love your little videos and chats. Knitting and gardening are my 2 passions. Awrabest for 2022 as we say in Scotland and lang may yer lum reek x😁

There is a flock of wild turkeys that visit my feeder once each day, happy to eat the spilled seeds on the ground, and occasionally jumping up to knock extra seed out of the feeder holes should they crave a little extra.
