  • When the sun goes down in Africa, the elusive and secretive animals start come out.
When we do get to see them it is often a very brief sighting lasting not more than a minute or so, and on this evening we had a similar experience.
As we drove our eye caught a glimpse of something dark lying in the grass.
It took us a few seconds to realise what we were looking at - but what its was, was something quite special.
An african Civet was lying flat to the ground hiding away, luckily for us it got up and moved off and gave us the opportunity to see this elusive animal much better in the open.
You never know what is going to pop up on drive when the sun sets so always keep your eyes open, your safari is only finished when you get back to the lodge.
