In this video we get to see the rollways of the Sanford Dam being demolished with a breaker attached to an excavator. They were also pouring the sill in front of the dam. The Sanford Dam is located on what used to be Sanford Lake. Sanford Lake is located in Mid Michigan. This footage was filmed on July 12, 2022. This was after the collapse of the Edenville Dam on May 19, 2020. Wixom Lake was rapidly rising due to heavy rainfall and the Edenville dam could not hold back the water. The side of the dam failed sending water rushing towards Sanford Village. The aftermath and damage left behind is devastating. Make sure you subscribe to catch the follow up videos I will be filming.

Thanks again Jordan - it's amazing how quickly they move on with this - as you say, that's not just down to the guys we see with their boots on the ground, but also all the people we don't see prepping, planning and scheduling everything to work so seamlessly. 👏👏
Great job Jordan! As always. I hope when this is all said and done you get some kind of a huge award! You have put in so much work.
What an awesome record of the civil engineering progress…well done Jordan…do keep it up!🏴
Thank you for your diligence and covering this whole story and the restoration and rebuilding of the dam and the community and the people and I salute this community I live in Southern California below Isabella Lake and the dam it Isabella Lake I won't go into the issues and such that surround it I'll let you Google it's old it's earth filled it's whatever it is and it's not that stable thankfully or not thankfully however you want to look at it there is so little water in California there's hardly any water behind the dam but I've seen that dam where water is literally sloshing over the top splashing and coming up appearing to dribbling down the other side when it's been so full when we've had a huge snowpack which we haven't had for a long time. I want to encourage certain people certain groups certain County and state officials to watch some of your videos because that dam at Lake Isabella is a ticking time bomb if California ever gets full of water again. God bless you all you're all in my prayers. I'm sorry for all you lost I pray that this is now been taking care of and it threw God's will you all will be safe and be able to enjoy this beautiful place you live again
Great Job Jordan, I'm Really Impressed With All The Workers Who Have Literally Spent So Much Energy, Time, & Hardworking Long Hours To Get These Dams Fixed Again. I Appreciate Watching The Live Cam. I Don't Know These Men, But Yet Their Like Watching Family Members. I Can Pick Out A Few Guys Who I Have Spotted As Regulars Just By The Way They Walk.... I Know That Sounds A Bit Crazy, & Absurd But I Pay Attention To Small Things Like That. Anyway, This Comment Is Long. Thanks Jordan For All You're Time, Your Energy Into Making These Videos. I Know You've Been Busy With Your New House (Looks Amazing Btw) Keep Up The Great Work. 🙂🙂 - Watching From North Carolina
As the water approaches the dam, the concrete embankment is curved. Is that for structure integrity, water turbulence and flow, or both?
Yes
I don't understand why they didn't just clear a path so the cement truck could back right up to the forms.
The backfill ripp rapp has sharp pieces of reinforcement rod in it that will puncture tires.
Thanks Jordan.
Still wondering they they just didn’t let this go back to a natural river.
Rivers don't magically heal themselves without a billion dollars of taxpayers money.
Maybe you should ask the homeowners who live above the dam that question.
@@Hanzyscure really? Amazing that for millions of years they have ran their course without any funds.
@@bobm8426 so where do I go to get money for my beach lot that was completely eroded over the last couple of years on Lake Michigan?
A bigger rock breaker would be better
Glad to hear they're mowing the lake bottom, I know you and people have heard me say before how bad the lake bottom can be in lake Isabella because of all the trees that have grown over the years.
They're not just mowing .Theyre spraying toxins on the lakebeds to kill the trees and invasive weeds.
Can’t help but think all this work is just temporary. It’s like putting a Sarcophagus over Chernobyl and still need a tarp and a roof patch and put up another building surround. Yet the foundation of it all is still the weakest link.🧐🤨
What's your point ?
Between the Four Lakes Task force and the workers on the ground ensuring that the dam is and will be stable for years to come should be addressed in your comments instead of negativity. I have witnessed first hand the work that has gone into the rebuilding of the dam and the town of Sanford. I am not from Sanford, but everyone involved in the rebuilding process should be proud of what they have accomplished over the past two years. Thank you Jordan for the hard work that you have put in keeping us updated.
@@bobm8426 I never knew Sanford Dam was a top secret Nuclear Plant.
@@Hanzyscure ???? 🙃
@@kats8839 Chernobyl is a failed Nuke plant in Ukraine. Worst in history.

Thanks Jordan! To be honest, I haven't watched a ton of the videos because your documenting so much. It's a lot to take in. I do come back every couple of months, just to see how much progress is going on. I actually don't live too far from there, to be honest. 😉 I just don't go that way often.
SHADES!😄
Future so bright you gotta
Jordan, I haven't been watching the feed. New sheet piling is being installed. Did the old material get pulled out?
I've been watching and I'm fairly certain that old sheet pile got pulled out. I don't think it was buried very deep. I'd estimate they've taken at least a third, maybe half of the height off the remaining berm before starting to drive the new sheet piling so if the old stuff hadn't been removed it would be plainly visible on the live cam.
@@rjgoniea Hi, thanks for your reply. Does anyone know why the berm is being removed only to have to be rebuilt later? Seems like a waste of effort. I emailed Fisher but got no response.
@@charlierumsfeld6626 I shared this in a reply to someone else, but my guess is that they needed to lower the top to make sure they could get the sheet pile down to the desired depth. It's also possible that core samples taken from the berm showed some weakness. Perhaps those top layers weren't as compacted as they'd like to see them.
@@charlierumsfeld6626 Also, I would assume the berm is the old substance that the earthen dam was made from. it obviously needs to be taken out and refilled with different substance that isn't a water soluble so to speak.. you dont want sand. We've all seen the video of edenville. the water coming through the berm.
@@rjgoniea Thanks again.
How long will it take for the lake to fill up?
That would depend on the weather. If they started to fill it in the spring, the rains we get could have it filled in a lot less time than if they started filling it this time of year.
You're doing a great job
Thank you!
Has the maximum height of the reservoir been reduced?
The finished height will be at the legal level established before the flooding.
@@rjgoniea what has been shown so far shows that they have greatly reduced the maximum height.
@@DanielSilva-jj2lz It will not be staying that way though. They removed a lot of the berm to (I assume) get the steel sheet piling down to the proper depth. When the construction phase is completed in 2025 the lake will be back to it's legal level.
@@rjgoniea I will wait, but I feel that the work will be abandoned.
? Why so negative. Be patient. If it bothers you so much to be so negative about something that hasnt even happened, find a new hobby. 🤔
Will u be on more again?? u doing these less and less it seems.....
I think his house, move, and J.O.B. job (Friday reference) were taking their toll. I hope he keeps his job, but getting that move done might be great for us :D :D
Jordan,
First off, where will they be putting the plug down by the temporary bridge or up a little farther? I was wondering when the breach is plugged and the water is redirected over the dam, will they be able to go in and smooth out, fill in the falls? Those falls look pretty deep and eroded in some areas. Do they have to bring the ground level up a little bit there?
@@kats8839 I'm not sure that filling those areas in would be necessary unless they're directly under the footprint of the new berm. The parts that are upstream will be under water and shouldn't be a hazard to anything. If anything it would be a place where fish would hang out because some like to hang out and hide in holes.
@@rjgoniea EGLE might require that it's returned to original for ecological purposes.
Great job Jordon!
Love your updates ❤️
We the taxpayers would like all the dams worked on at the same time so we can have our lakes back sooner rather than later 😊
We are aware of the politics and permits involved. But would love to have our lakes back with in the next year
We the taxpayers at no fault of our own caused this…
So please stay ahead of schedule and let’s look forward to filling the lake’s
