casio did something like this about 25 years ago ,it was guitar shaped though. rubber fret board and moulded in strings . it was quite glitch and a bit crap and was expensive . it may have been 30 years . look it up on the net

I'm really interested to see if this thing can control VST's well. I can't tell over the youtube video what the quality of the soundfonts are, to my ear they sound a little better than the default Yamaha keyboard soundfonts.

It's an instrument like mayonnaise is an instrument. If the developers had an idea on guitar playing they had the spacings of the frets in mind. Any guitarist would be unable to play this thing like a guitar
Artiphon ripped off a lot of their supporters by charging us over nine hundred dollars each for a premium hardwood back Instrument 1 and accessories over two years ago, then never actually producing them. Artiphon is refusing us refunds and leaving its biggest and earliest supporters holding the bag.

Roli is a real instrument, take a page out of their book, make quality and people will take it seriously, sell a cheap made in china toy, and no one will take it seriously. The quality of the sound is just so far from where it would need to be to be taken seriously. Again, go bake to the drawing board. Someone will do this type of instrument right, and make it basically an alternative way to play the same as the roli. But this is not it....
Difference is, Roli costs like 3-5 times the price of this. Artiphon pretty much can do like 60% of what Roli can do (polyphonic aftertouch, microtonal sliding etc). PLUS, it's made to be played as a guitar with limitless performance options for people who come from guitar world. No serious producer would use the built-in sounds, but they would only play well produced sounds inside their DAW.
Not a fan of this particular instrument. I think it kind of sounds like an expensive toy rather than a true instrument. The concept is interesting but the execution is sub-par to me. Now the Harpejji is a really cool and unique new instrument concept. It sounds great and is unique enough to warrant it's existence. This "Artiphon" thing is just not that interesting and it sounds like shit to top it off haha.
Hi there. Yes, the INSTRUMENT 1 has two speakers onboard. There is also a headphone jack so you can route your audio through headphones or an external speaker.
