  • Hinohara Village, Nishitama District, Tokyo, Japan.
Setozawa, a tributary of the Kitaaki River, has a famous waterfall that has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls.
    This is Hossawa Falls.
It is the only famous waterfall in Tokyo that was selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, but it is also famous for freezing during the cold winter.
It is divided into four stages, and the total drop is about 60m, with the first waterfall 23.3m, the second waterfall 16.8m, the third waterfall 13.7m, and the fourth waterfall 2.3m.
The name comes from the fact that the water flowing down from the waterfall looked like the hossu held by a monk.
*Hossu: A Buddhist altar fitting with a pattern attached to it, bundled with animal hair.
Hossawa Falls can also be accessed by bus from Bus Stop 1 at JR Musashi Itsukaichi Station.
The bus stop you get off at is Hossawa Falls Iriguchi.
It will arrive in about 25 minutes.
After walking for about 15 minutes from the bus stop, you will reach the waterfall.
Hossawa Falls is the biggest tourist attraction in Hinohara Village, Tokyo.
At the headwaters of the Tama River, which supports 19% of Tokyo's water resources, the scenery that spreads out in the coldest of winters was very impressive.
    Thanks for watching!
