  • Welcome to our coverage of the Fairchild Air Force Base air show, Skyfest 2024. This tanker base near Spokane, Washington, hosted military and civilian flying demonstrations the weekend of June 22 and 23.
A brace of Air Force F-35s from Luke Air Force Base gave a rousing and loud demonstration with plenty of afterburner. The A-10 demonstration team ended the day's activities, with many more fliers coming before. Take a look at some of the highlights we captured on video.
If you've been with us before, you know the drill -- we use ambient audio with aircraft sounds whenever possible, but we must cut the audio when commercial music can be heard over the PA system. That's frustrating to us as audiophiles, but we guess the majority of air show attendees like the commercial music that accompanies so many acts.

I really liked that Catalina at the end. Great aircraft for its time. Thanks.

I liked them all, except the F-35. It tries to do to many things to be good at any of them well. Thanks for the air show video.

Ahh Yes Another F35 hater. Well Better get used to them because just about all US Allies have them or will have them by the end of this decade and beyond. By the Way I liked all the Aircraft in the video including the F35😏👍 😀

The F-35 is a decent aircraft, but it's not the F-22. If only we kept building more Raptors. THAT is a terrifying war machine.

@@hawkeyeten2450 Yes the F22 is a Terrifying Fighter. USAF was supposed to procure at least up to 300 F22 's to replace the F15. However the production or procurement was ended by order of Robert Gates the US Secretary of Defense at the time due to the Extremely high production costs of Constructing F22 's. I Believe the USAF has about 135 F22 's flying in active USAF squadrons. They've lost some due to accidents and the others are used for training. However the USAF would like to retire the 30+Raptors used for training because they are older models and have Not had their weapons or software updated. The USAF had planned to retire all F22 's by 2030 when the Sixth Generation Fighter was supposed to come into service. But the Sixth Gen Fighter program is way off schedule and No aircraft in production yet and that program may or may Not be cancelled. So the F22 will be around at least until 2030 and Maybe longer. With the way things go in Our US Congress regarding Military budgets who knows how long they'll remain in service🤷. For the Record I also Love the F22 and the F35. Not a veteran or in the USAF but these facts have been publicly documented recently. Hope this explains some about the F22👍
