@@HarmonyOC Yes. The "Restorer" is undoing all his efforts to make a piece of decent condition deliberately look old, used and broken, just to give the impression, he is restoring an old, used and broken piece. In some videos this leads to toys produced in 2018 looking like spending 25 years in a bucket of mud, that was found in the ruins of a burnt house, after 10 years of being intensily played with by a kid. That is de-restoration. Restoring something artificially aged or worn.
Thanks for showing me this thing. This was just exactly precisely what I was looking for, of course. I just hope that I promise to stay tuned for this educational program. It's very rare for me to ever catch this experience. 👌
We have a 1940 Philco AM radio. It still works too. I take the tubes out that don't light up to me local General Store which still has a free Tube Tester and a cabinet full off old Vacuum radio tubes.

Philips was such a Great Company, quality products, they were always on the cutting edge on a lot of different products, radio, electronic s, refrigerators, car radio, etc.nice video Thank You.
A wood working tip for future wood projects. When gluing somthing, and you want it to not slip around. Use less glue, and then and add a few grains of table salt. The table salt will act like Gravel on ice and prevent the pieces slipping around. And it will be absorved in to the wood after a few seconds. Giving you enough time to clamp everything. Makes life easier.
He probably won't heed your advice, looks like the production value of the video is more important 😂 Great restoration don't get me wrong, but the editing is too fancy for my liking, I prefer the more realistic restoration videos

A while ago, I repaired one of these old Philips radio's which contained multiple tubes....... Once done..........not a sound to be heard but the illumination was great !!! 😂😂

Re-create this masterpiece make few of them two of them one for each end table resale would not be hard.
Running that old radio without replacing all electrolytic and paper capacitors is electronic suicide. The electrolytic caps especially can short, smoke, burn out a rectifier and/or a mains transformer. That hum was worrisome.
Absolutely true, but it would never give you the same feeling when you turn it on. Modern technology is obviously much better, but the nostalgia is completely disappeared.
i have this propblem with old radios. they dontt even need to be so old. just analog radios. the problem is that old days. the analog radio channels had a wider bandwith than digital bandwith. meaning. when you hear modern radio stations today. thei analog radion recieving bandwith is greater than the radio station sends out. ending with a lot off white noise with the music. i would put a digital radio in it.
Acrylic back?? Black plastic "fabric" without even a single adornment??? Pfffffft, I would've never sent you my grandpa's vintage red Philco 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ Plus, that "WC" thing was totally unnecessary and disturbing... 😡😡 Wanna make jokes, breaking the ice?? Great, I love jokes!! But please at the right moments... 🤔🤔

Even if it doesn't work, it's a nice museum piece, and a good example for someone to study old electronics.

Great job for the radio !! Wonderful !!
I've never seen such clean dirt. The paint slpashes weren't yellowed and came off immediately. So i guess, this is another de-restoration video.
De-restoration?

Nice double-feature! You are a true craftsman. I am working on a 1950s Silvertone Radio that I think only needs the switch repaired/replaced.
That’s the coolest lamp. I’ve ever seen!

Very beautiful great jop you the best
It was going reasonably well until it came time to spray paint the wood. Then, it ruined everything.
I love this lamp❤❤
Amazing. That looks real good after renovation. 👍👍
That acrylic backplate looks awesome!
Amazing... Bravo
5 bucks says that radio doesn't work.
Your on
I literally restore old radios as a hobby and I know that even if that radio works, the old paper capacitors are gonna die.
EXACTLY
@@stuffnobodyaskedfor9910is there a modern equivalent he should have replaced them with.
@@shafismaili1347yes of course you just have to hope that you can find a capacitor that's the same as the paper one but modern

WOW ... FANTASTICO VIDEO!!! 👏👏👏👏💯👍
Parabéns! Seu vídeo é baste criativo.
Did the radio actually work in the end, presumably all the capacitors and most of the resistors would have needed replacement, were the valves OK?
I bet it didn't.
