I disagree about the scripted part. Looking back even a few years, she was so shy and nervous, her body posture was closed and hunched. I give her credit for now being 100% open and comfortable, probably was torture at first having to be in front of people, you could read it in her movement and face...

Lol when Lorde first came out with the singles Royals she was in every news lol cause she made comments about huge fan bases such as Lana delrey, Taylor, Selena, OD, etc.... and bc of that she got a lot of hate comments from them plus the south park episode .....so the first 2 years she received a lot hate...glad that changed

I remember when there was so much hate for her dancing (and you still see some of it), but mostly I think people have embraced it as her just being in the moment, being herself. Part of the love people have for her and her music is that she's something real, she's not trying to fit in, she's fearless. It just goes to show, that normal isn't really normal it's just sameness and it's bullshit. Be true to yourself, fuck societal expectations, accept the real you and the truth of who you really are, will set you free. There will be people who shun you, but you'll also find the ones who will welcome you just as you are and really, they're all you really need to know. Lorde is a perfect example of that.

I love how the music changes up as it progresses, especially when it all comes together at 3:07 with that sustained synth note coming in and playing through till the end. Love it!

Fun Fact: After some of her first live performances she was criticized by some ppl because of her "odd" dance moves. So she went and released the "Tennis Court" video in wich she is just staring at the camera and doesn't move at all^^.

there's a band, backup singers and almost an orchestra behind the box, you can't see it here but if you watch the whole concert there's various shots of them.
