  • I had this idea a while ago to go on a realistic journey from Cape Town to Cairo in a small plane without using any GPS or markers in the simulator. We will be using LittleNavMap and VORs to plan our routes. The modified Cessna 152 does have DME (distance measurement equipment), which will come handy where available.
Going to split the series up into unedited videos with timestamps to allow you to take the journey with me.
In this second leg, we fly from Langebaanweg to Vredendal. I made plenty mistakes along the way, including losing the ability to do basic arithmetic under pressure. I realised afterwards that I could have also used Langebaanweg's VOR that has DME for range. All of these mistakes are useful for me to learn and do better next time.
I am not a pilot or pilot in training, so don't take any of this as instruction. Purely for entertainment. I will be making many mistakes, but feel free to point them out in the comments.

Pretty sure this is why co-pilots were invented! As long as you get to your destination, no one needs to know xD
