    I really don`t understand why Americans thought it was good idea to have invisible fire (alcohol fuel)... You literally could think there is nothing but water on the ground, and walk into it just to notice it is actually burning alcohol.
    Nothing wrong with alcohol fuel as long as there is something that makes the fire visible.

    Are Indy Car's a American version of European Formula one?

    • @N75911_
      @N75911_ 8 лет назад

      Open wheel races at Indianapolis have been held since 1908, almost 109 years ago.
      Although Grands Prix have run since 1901(which was actually Le Mans), Formula One was not officially recognized until 1946 and the first FIA Formula One Drivers' World Championship wasn't held until 1950.
      Though, American Open Wheel Racing had been held consistently to the same series since 1911 (except during World War II), and this class of cars bared the name of the famous Indianapolis 500, or Indy Cars.
      But throughout the years, both series have adopted certain concepts of one another, and IndyCar has changed governing bodies and regulations many times since. The most famous split was CART (Champ Car) and Indy Racing League (who split from CART in 1994 and formed), though IRL is now the only IndyCar series now, after CART folded in 2008 and later rejoined with IRL.
      When Indy Racing League started racing in 1996, the idea was to create a series like CART, BUT, at a low price. The idea was to create the fastest race cars, for the cost.
      IndyCar's average top team budget is $15,000,000 per team while Mercedes-AMG and Red Bull both had a budget of nearly $500,000,000 in 2016.
      So in the end, IndyCar is sort of it's own thing, American Open Wheel Racing, but in some aspects, it's obvious that it does take some things from F1. One of the biggest things about IndyCar now is that they mostly run Road Courses and street circuits now, where at some point was almost exclusively Oval racing.
      IndyCar also runs multiple aero kits for road courses, short ovals, speed ways and superspeedways.

    • @butcherbill565
      @butcherbill565 8 лет назад

      A big thank you to you sir!!!! You just made things clear!! In Europe we don't know much 'bout Indy except that it's open wheel and it's in America. The idea behind indy, which is as you said having the faster car for the cost is actually a pretty good thing.

    • @N75911_
      @N75911_ 8 лет назад

      butcher bill One thing to also note is that a few F1 drivers and constructors have also competed in Indy, such as Lola, Cosworth (engines) also, current chassis in IRL are made by Dallara (Who also build Chassis for Haas F1 team and Formula Renault 3.5).
      And as far as competitors go to name a few, there were: Mario Andretti, Juan Pablo Montoya and Nigel Mansell (Who raced in 1993 in CART after leaving F1 due to a contract problem with Williams after his 1992 championship).
      Max Chilton also just switched to IndyCar after driving for Manor F1.

    • @N75911_
      @N75911_ 8 лет назад +18

      IndyCar: 1/250th the budget of F1, still gets compared to it. Now THAT is racing done right... The Indy Racing League started in '94 to compete against CART (Champ Car or Original IndyCar) and their goal was to build fast, reliable race cars and produce excellent racing for low costs. Mercedes' team budget alone would be enough to pay for every IndyCar team's yearly budget...

      Yes but you need to remember that entire purpose of Formula 1 is to be most advanced and expensive sport. Formula 1 does not try to be cheap and affordable. It has to reduce costs becouse they are already so massive, but it does not try to be as cheap as indycar.
      Indycar cost is excellent. But it is not world championship #1 sport with most advanced technology and best drivers. It is great #2 (or other number) sport, just not #1. And i am not talking about personal preferences, you can like #999 sport the most if you want.

      Actually, the title for most advanced racing technology belongs to LMP1.
      Also, Mansell went on to IndyCar, and he wasn't even as old as Schumacher when he retired. He was at the top of his game having just won the F1 title the previous year. "To old" "not good enough" lmao.
      F1 drivers are not the best drivers in the world. Maybe the best drivers in F1, but that's about it, stick them in anything else and they are likely to have a hard time adapting. Nigel Mansell was a great exception, although he was an excellent driver all around.
