These trains do have dedicated luggage racks, you can also get Southern Railway or ThamesLink to Central London which is almost just as fast (a few minutes longer) and is usually significantly cheaper
Bought a train ticket that said Thameslink and got on a Gatwick Express train. Conductor looked at my ticket and didn’t mention it was the wrong train. Still got to London Bridge station with no problem.
That's what we did. We'd never been to London before, and we learned that for 11 pounds, you could buy a pass that would not only get us to Victoria Station, but we could also ride the tube the rest of the day at no additional cost.
@@pluggy86 . That's Great news. I'll be in London in a few weeks. So, if I get the Southern Rail, instead of this express train, I can continue to use that ticket I buy for the remainder of the day for Tubes (I'm assuming just zone 1 and maybe 2), either way, that's still worth it. Hope I hear back from you by the time I fly out.
My advise for the savvy traveller. DO NOT USE GATWICK EXPRESS. IT'S A TOURIST RIP-OFF. Save your money. Get an OYSTER card from the ticket office, or use your CONTACTLESS debit credit card or even you phone with apple/android pay! Touch in, touch out and use SOUTHERN services. There are SIX trains an hour during the day and it takes the same 30 minutes. It costs (2019 prices) £8.30 off-peak and £15.10 peak time. Peak time is MONDAY-FRIDAY 06.30-09.30 and 16.00-19.00 all other times are off-peak. NOTE In the Gatwick to London direction, as long as your journey ends in Zone1 (central London) peak time is only charged in the morning ie 06.30-09.30. GATWICK EXPRESS is £19.80 at ALL TIMES... PLEASE DON'T GET RIPPED OFF. You can use your OYSTER card to continue your journey on London underground or buses and any other station in greater London. If you are staying in London you'll need an OYSTER card to get around on public transport so get one at Gatwick and start saving straight away.REMEMBER. THE GATWICK EXPRESS IS A RIP-OFF OF UNWARY TRAVELLERS AND VISITORS.Useful tools.... To find out how much your OYSTER journeys will cost search'TfL single fare finder' You can also download a useful map from the FfL website called 'London tube and rail services' which is essentially the OYSTER area. If where you want to go to is on the map, you can get there using your OYSTER card. Hope you enjoy your visit😊
@@rci30 I was completely out of my league in a foreign country for the first time, and the ticket agents were great. One of them told me the Gatwick Express costs 20 pounds more and only saves 10 minutes.
Good afternoon: I am trying to buy a round-trip ticket online with Thameslink from Gatwick to London, I see that he asks for the schedule and I have three doubts. Is it possible to catch the train outside the marked schedule? since it puts Flexible ticket with no time restrictions on when you can travel. That is to say. If I buy the ticket to leave after 10 and arrive at the train before or after the hour, will they let me get on? Can I use this round trip ticket for the 2x1 offer of attractions in London? Thank you.
Hi, I think you need the anytime ticket from thameslink. This will allow you to take any train on the day you select. www.thameslinkrailway.com/tickets/ticket-types-explained/anytime-tickets

Take Southern Rail. Way cheaper, I got First class on southern for the same price as the Gatwick express coach.

Do you know about Christmas Day and day after Christmas what’s the schedule of train go to london
and what about the other trains... I need to go to battersea park... and.... I was told the G.express is the most expensive ....
For Battersea Park, get the southern (London Victoria) train to Clapham Junction then one stop on the local train one stop.... easy😊

I’m so nervous and scared because I’m going to be doing this for the first time with a 4 year old .. 😬
Don’t be, I’m sure it will be fun for both you and the 4 year old. Let us know how it goes.
The Gatwick Express is a rip off, it's more expensive and it's, get this, one minute quicker, and is less frequent than taking regular Southern trains
