The Japanese Navy believed in the Decisive Battle Doctrine (艦隊決戦, Kantai Kessen, "naval fleet decisive battle"). But a decisive battle can go both ways. So, along with planning a decisive victory, they should also think of how to avoid a decisive defeat. But the victory disease prevented them from that and the result was the Midway Decisive Battle that brought an end to all their aspirations and started the long way to hell.

I believe they are reading from shattered sword whose author explains the battle as part of the unauthorized history of the Pacific war podcast on the Midway battle. Worth watching just for the pod cast’s theme Quiet Triumph but even more for the trio going over the data sheets, while disparaging Fuchida.

They are numbered! Look at the title. And the entire list is always in the description.

What happened to the voice? The pronunciation of the Japanese carrier names suddenly became trashed. Weird. How about is-land for island.

Had you considered that Fuchida was trying to shield his admiral?

Fuchida’s book and the info he provided in a subsequent US speaking tour has been discredited by Japanese and IJN experts.

The Americans were Very Lucky ...

The Americans might have made their own luck. The Japanese certainly ran out of luck.

I have read a Lot about War .
Just remember one Squadron got lost , and there was a Commander that went his own way and found the Japanese fleet.

Get rid of robot AI voice and use a human narrator who can pronounce the words properly.

Gosh the A.I. has done the worst job of all the series. Two carriers, ranks, and just about every abbreviation mispronounced.

But most of the audio is perfect recitation with proper emphases, pacing, and pauses. I wonder what English speaker or speakers were used to train the AI? I feel that I know this voice, but cannot give the name. The speaker has a British accent with a tenor/upper baritone pitch as opposed to the pounding base baritone often used in American productions.
