I have only done the binding method once, I decided to try this I am so glad I did I love this bag and it was much easier than I thought. First time I made a bag like this also. Can't wait to make more thanks for all your help😃

Thanks for this video I knew the cut and sew I bought wouldn’t do good to birth. And it’s my 1st mav pack but I have been watching all of you binding bags with FOE and then you said this was good with 3/4” I had that in my stash when I use to made headbands for my girl and ta-da 1st binding caught on both sides 1st time around you rock thanks so much!!❤❤❤❤

I so love asmr sewing 😊. Cute Mav. Im going to try it in the same style as the Louie. Turn the front and bind the back than center bottom the strap connector

I am fairly new to bag making but I have made one Mav Pack already. I have another one in the works but it is wool! I am concerned about birthing it. So I looked for a video on binding. Thanks! Did I miss if the strip needs to be cut on the bias? I hope someday I will be as good and fast as you!!
For bag binding, cutting on the bias isn’t necessary but if using cotton it will make it go better around the curves for sure! Glad this video is helpful!

Did you use decovil light in the gusset & zipper panels?
Just on the front and back panels, if you bind the gusset and zipper panel don’t really need it
I think I will try this but I’m going to center the zipper on the zipper panel.
That's what I did and it turned out great. I didn't want to risk the binding being in the way of my zipper.

I noticed you didn’t topstitch the exterior panels. Is that doable when using the binding method? Loved the video, was waiting for this to come out before I cut out my pieces.

Just bought the pattern, have not made it yet. What do you think about increasing the gusset width slightly? Is it roomy enough inside as is?
It’s a small fit. If you have more than basics to put in it I would say increase

Can someone plz help me…I am getting ready to sew the binding but I don’t know which seam allowance to use…I sewed my Mav with a 3/8” seam allowance.

It’s up to you, just be consistent in the seam allowance you pick for the whole bag

No it is water resistant canvas
I haven't really done binding. What you are using does not look like it has any stretch. I am confused by that because I thought binding was supposed to be on the bias.
You can use bias tape, but for Bagmaking you don’t need to have that stretch like you do with clothes. I use strips of waterproof canvas usually

It is a walking foot, came with the machine.
What fabric is the black ?
It is just a water resistant canvas
Where does the Binding come from?
Is it waterproof and how wide was yours? I tried solid matte jelly & it was a bear going around the corners... :-(. Sorry for all the questions but in search for a better product to use. TIA 🙂
My favorite is from sailrite, but you can use just a one inch wide strip of water proof or resistant canvas as well. www.sailrite.com/Top-Notch-9-Polyester-Bias-Binding-Tape-Black-1-Inch
Thanks Siah your the best! I was on the fence about this pattern because of the birthing method. I would always rather bind a bag if possible. I wish pattern designers would give instruction for both methods if it was doable. I believe they would sell more patterns! Off to buy this one now thanks to you 😊
