Henry was actually considered very handsome for the time, till he broke his leg(near the end of his marriage to Anne Boleyn Which was when he started to get fat because his leg had multiple clots and he could barely walk) and they did have a lot of miscarriages back then due to lack of modern medicine, that's why familys where so big then you needed an heir and to have multiple children so at least one would live to adulthood
He also had a severe head injury which could explain his short temper.
And after he lost his wife Jane he started mourning by eating and started his bad eating habits

Catherine of Aragon actually had no miscarriages she had five stillbirths or the children died a few hours after the birth (It's not really sure) and one son who died after 52 days
It’s was probably easier just to say miscarriages because Anne had them as well. You know to keep the argument the same.
Her first child (a girl) was miscarried, her next three children (all sons) died in infancy, her 5th kid grew to become Mary I and her last pregnancy resulted in a stillborn daughter. She went into menopause after that.

I’m going to say the K Howard had the worst life. They all had it bad and I am not trying to make undermine that, but she was the youngest of them. Her entire life she was used, abused and manipulated by men who had power over her.
Yet she was kind. Howard never stopped being kind because she just a child/teenager who wanted a friend.
And that want for something so innocent was twisted and used against her.
And it breaks my heart.
The whole point of the musical is that they don't need to compare struggles because they were all done dirty and when they literally try to compete for had it worse it leads no where so why are we all still trying to figure out who should win
I think Katherine Howard has the worst story, but 5 miscarriages is a close second to me.

@Isabella Varela (Student) That story of Anna was denied about two years ago by MANY historians thanks to the notes of Thomas Cromwell (who wrote down in a diary everything that lived with the king as Machiavelli with the son of the Borgias) in these notes Cromwell said that Anna was taller than the king, robust, knew weapons and hunting and had scars something that the king did not like. The story you tell is very detailed and when it was investigated where it came from, it was discovered that it had no historical basis, so it is wrong and it is a myth. About Howard I got confused, English is not my first language.

No fun facts this time but we are almost finished, and I honestly can't believe it! I will miss doing these lists! But Anne boleyn and Catherine of Aragon did fight similarly to this (not these words, but they would fight a lot)

I believe that Katherine Howard had it worst (all of them did but if I were forced to choose). She was raped, groomed all her life. And got beheaded for finally having enough of her fake friends blackmailing her with that they would say that Katherine was cheating on Henry with her rape stories, and they actually did tell him. The beheading wasn't even done correctly. But what made me feel satisfied is that those fake friends and the rapers were beheaded too!
Fun fact: Boleyn and Aragon pettily fighting would be historically accurate (?)

Next song is Catherine Purr Introduction, and then it's her song "I don't need your love". Also, the yellow one was Catherine of Argon, the green was Anne Boleyn, the grey-ish is Jane, the red was Anne of Cleves, the light purple is Katherine Howard, and the blue one is Catherine Purr.
First - The one saying she had 5 miscarriages was Catherine of Aragon. The one who said 3 was Anne Boleyn. As to Catherine's miscarriages, well, yes and no. Two were stillborn, two were born alive, but died within hours or days of birth, and one, Henry, lived about 6 weeks. Mary, her 5th pregnancy of course lived to adulthood.
One theory, and it's only a theory, as to why so many of his wives and mistresses lost their children, why Mary couldn't get pregnant, and why both of Henry's living sons died as teens, was because Henry had Syphilis, and passed it to all of them.
As to the mistresses, Henry definitely, had more than 3. However the 3 she says were the most well known. One was Anne's sister a woman named Mary. In Catherine's song she mentions a woman who had a son who didn't earn no ring. That was one of the mistresses - Elizabeth Blount - who gave birth to Henry FitzRoy - who for awhile was considered being the next king of England, even though he was illegitimate. However, he died at age 17, and before Henry died.
Anne Boleyn on the other hand did have miscarriages. All boys.
As to who had it worse, I would say Kathrine Howard. Who even during that time was thought too young to marry the king. Plus, in our time, she would be a child.
The one who had it best was definitely Anne of Cleaves.

Honestly I agree with Christene that Catherine A. (the yellow one) had the worst time with Henry. Not only did she have 5 miscarriages, but also think about HOW LONG she dealt with him 24 YEARS. So he could've had more than 3 mistresses that we don't know about in that time span. Also as she said in the musical "She was shipped on the night of her sweet sixteen not knowing a word of English to marry some random dude". However she was originally gonna marry Arthur, Henry's older brother who soon died of a sickness after they met in person. She was also somewhat accquainted with Arthur since they wrote letters to eachother. So, she went to a different country not knowing their language to marry this guy, AND THEN HE DIES so naturally she has to marry his younger brother who she doesn't even know. Then he goes on to have affairs with other women after their marriage FOR 24 YEARS and has 5 MISCARRIAGES. I know Katherine Howard (the pink one) had it pretty hard with all the men in her life, but in the musical the competition it's "Who had the worst time WITH HENRY". Katherine Howard dealt with other men BEFORE Henry and yes, while she was young when she married Henry she didn't have to deal with him as long as Catherine A did. I'd say Katherine Howard had the worst life in general because of how quick and rushed her life was (especially with all the men), but Catherine A had the worst life with Henry.

At the end where the screaming was, in the musical, Boleyn and Aragon was fighting while Cleves was trying to calm them down, Jane was pulling Howard's hair and I think that's where the screaming was

As to the colors in different animatics, it becomes really easy to recognize them once you see the actual show or realize that each wife has their own color based on the set costumes that each tour has. The colors do not change. It's just something super fans have noticed and continued doing in their arts.

Edit: And because I share many things of my past with K.Howard, I feel she had the worst. Maybe not necessarily the worst time with Henry as she only married him for a year or so before he had her killed but I do believe her life in it's entirety was f'ed up way more than the others.

When Katherine Howard was locked in the Tower of London, Henry had to order anything she could kill herself with to be removed from her room.
For me, Katherine Howard had the worst time with Henry. She was a child and had the burden of being a queen consort on her shoulders. She was with Henry and was raped by Thomas, her friend. Her friend raped her. And she got beheaded for it. She got beheaded for being raped. That doesn’t seem better than 5 miscarriages because to be fair, Anne promised Henry a son to get to be his wife. Howard just was chosen to be his wife by Henry.

For the longest time I really couldn't decide who had the hardest life because all of their stories really upset me. Even Anna's story hurt me a little because I know what it's like to be bullied for something I couldn't control. To me, it seemed that if I picked one I would be undermining everyone else's experiences. My ultimate decision was not to settle on just one since they were all hurt at some point during their lives. I think that's why this musical resonates with me so much.
To me, it seems like the message it's trying to get across is that you still deserve to be treated with empathy and respect even if others have had it worse than you. You'll probably see this emphasized in Parr's introduction later on. But if you held me down and forced me to choose a leader, I'd pick Catherine Parr. I say this because she seems like the most level-headed out of all of them and thus would be able to balance the group out. I know that I'm overthinking this majorly, but that's just what my brain does to me sometimes.
Actually, Katherine's beheading was quick and in a single swing - for what I've heard historians say. The two people of the Tudor history who had (apparently) messy beheadings were Cromwell and Edward Stafford (Duke of Buckingham) -although I think both deaths were described many years after their deaths.

So I personally am really interested in Catherine of Aragon and love doing research about her. I have done researches from a few sources and these are basically what happened in her pregnancies.
In 1509(The year of her marriage to Henry) she got pregnant for the first time. However the child was born prematurely and it was a stillbirth. So that is how she lost her first child(it was a girl).
In 1510 Henry got Catherine pregnant again. And in 1511 their son (who was named Henry) was born. But while he was still an infant little Henry died and they had to bury their child.
On september 30 of the same year it was reported that she was pregnant. But there was no child. She most likely had a miscarriage.
She was pregnant again 1513 when Henry went to war. When the Scots invaded England in his absence Katherine, heavily pregnant, travelled to Buckingham, where she made “a splendid oration” to the forces camped outside the town, urging them to the victory at Flodden that followed. But in October, while Henry was still away, Katherine delivered a premature son who died shortly after birth.
By July 1514 she was pregnant once again. She had another son was either born healthy but did not live for long or was a stillborn baby. (Not clear).
On 18th of February 1516 Catherine gave birth to their only surviving child Mary. Who was later to become Queen Mary I.
In 1518 she was pregnant again. A baby girl was born but only lived for about a week.
It is also said that there could be two other pregnancies in 1517 and between 1512 and 1513 that resulted in miscarriages.
So it is historically confirmed that she was pregnant 7 times (and if the sayings are true 9 times). But only one child lived. Which means she lost at least 6 of her children.
And while all these happened Henry had 3 historically confirmed mistresses and 1 historically confirmed illegitimate son who he actually invited to court while he was still married to Catherine. (Man basically brought his bastard son to his wife who had lost so many babies. Asshole.) Then Anne Boleyn came into the picture and the divorce trials happened and the pope refused the annulment so Henry started his own church.(these are actually a lot more complicated and long but I am talking about Catherine and Henry's children here) Catherine was now travelling from one rubbish castle to another rubbish castle. She was never allowed to see her only surviving daughter. Even when she had an awful fever. And when she was 50 years old she died in a not very nice palace with a couple of servants by her side.
She actually wrote one letter to Mary and another to Henry before she died. In her letter to Henry she said she had forgiven him for everything he did to her and that she hopes the God forgives him too. She started the letter with "My most dear lord, king and husband," and ended the letter with "Lastly, I make this vow, that mine eyes desire you above all things."
And she signed the letter "Katherine the Quene"
She was indeed a wonderful yet unfortunate woman. Her funeral was fit for a princess but not for a queen. She died as a princess in the eyes of Church of England. But in the eyes of Catherine herself and many people of England who loved her dearly(as well as the Catholic Church) she was still the true Queen,Catherine of Aragon. (She was called Catherine or Katherine by English people but actually her birth name is Catalina)

I guess summarize this all the queens go through the show and try to prove why they had it the hardest with the kind and in this part takes after kath sings her song and she thinks she won the competition which starts the argument between almost all them

I don't feel like I can judge who had it "worse". They all had legitimately hard lives/deaths. However I do personally feel the most sympathy for Katherine Howard. To have been taken advantage of at such a young age is awful in and of itself, but to be blamed for it because she didn't protect her virginity/honor or whatever makes it even worse. She was in the car of her step grandmother when Manox molested her. And it's said that when said step grandmother caught her in his embrace, she slapped her. (She's also said to have slapped her when she caught her with Dereham)

Anne Boleyn (Beheaded) is green
Jane Seymour (Died) is gray or silver
Anna of Cleves (Divorced, rejected for her looks) is red
Katherine Howard (Beheaded) is magenta or pink
Catherine Parr (Survived) is blue

(Edit) I think Katherine Howard had it the worst. She truly had an awful life, and then got her head chopped off. Though, my theater kid friends and I say that I’m Anne Boleyn.
Actually Katherine Howard’s beheading was quick and easy, I think people confused her execution with Mary Queen of Scots, who legitimately took a few blows to the back of the head. In fact Katherine was very dignified and kept her composer up to her beheading, making even those who disliked her respect her for it.
After King Henry passed Kathereen Parr married Tomas Seymour, and had a daughter Mary. Then Parr died few days after she had Mary, and Tomas died of beheaded, Mary got Passed family member to family member. then Mary died as a child That I was told by my family.
The Anne of Cleaves survied and she got sick and died. SO Anne Of Cleaves really survived the longest.

okay so for Anne Boleyn yes she did have four miscarriages and I think they were all sons oops Henry didn't get his wish and for Catherine I don't remember what gender they were but I think there was one son who died eventually
She had 1 miscarried boy, 1 miscarried girl and 1 stillborn son
So I’m about to go on a whole lecture/rant (thing) about the Queens sry if I repeat any info (I probably will). Also I’ll label the section by names.
Catherine of Aragon/yellow/1st queen- she was originally engaged to King Arthur, Henry’s Brother, But Arthur dies. Catherine OA. was handed off to Henry. Catherine was actually pretty good friends with Henry and the Had Know each other since they were younger because of this their marriage was some what sweet in the beginning. Henry was often attracted to other woman and had affairs without telling Catherine though she most likely knew. Catherine was actually pretty lenient and stayed queen for about 24 years. She had her daughter Mary (I believe) who would later become “Bloody Mary”. Henry didn’t hate Mary but wanted a son. He ended up becoming fond of Anne Boleyn, who wouldn’t actually get with him while Henry was with Catherine. He tried to get divorced from Catherine but the Church wouldn’t allow it. He even tried to use a verse from Leviticus (taken out of context) about not getting with your brothers wife. He continually tried to divorce Catherine but lots of people denied and a few themselves got beheaded. He eventually found away to “divorce” her (they didn’t actually get a divorce but something else which I can’t remember the name of). Catherine never fully excepted that she wasn’t queen. There’s more history behind it but I don’t want to go to far into it.
Anne Boleyn/Green/2nd/-Anne was quite lively and I believe she was 15. She attracted Henry greatly and he did write her. She though wouldn’t get with him while he was with Catherine. Once Catherine got divorced they married. Once Henry actually married her he saw Anne’s true colors. While she was pretty and lively she was also manipulative and would get annoyed with Henry easily. She wasn’t as lenient as Catherine of Aragon and this greatly bothered Henry. He finally got sick of her and framed her or having an affair with three other innocent men. Anne got stuck in prison and was greatly troubled that these three men who were innocent were also going to get beheaded. She tried to get Henry to behead only her and spare the other men. He denied and she actually had a view of where the men were beheaded. She excepted her fate and personally asked for a french executioner to behead her because their ways were quicker, cleaner, and less painful. I also forgot to add that Boleyn had a daughter named Elizabeth who would also impact history greatly.
Jane Seymour/grey or light blue/3rd- I don’t know too much about Jane so forgive me. Jane got with Henry after Anne. She was the only one to have a son named Edward. Henry was extremely thrilled by this and they had a large celebration frankly 12 days after edward’s birth Jane died.
Anna (or Anne) of Cleves/red/4th- some dude named Thomas thought it would be a good idea to get Anna and Henry together because Germany had recently had a reformation and he wanted England to have one as well. Henry agreed because he was told of how beautiful she was and even had a portrait of her by Hans of Holbein. When he met her though he saw she wasn’t as pretty as depicted and was around her 40s. She had a likeable personality but Henry didn’t enjoy that he had been “tricked” I believe he beheaded that Thomas guy. Anna and Henry were only together for about six months. They later divorced but Henry gave her some land in England and she was pretty well off. They still talked her and there but he saw her more as a sister rather than a wife.
Katherine Howard/Pink/5th- Katie was young in her life but Henry thought she was hot so yeah. He like her because she gave him what he desired but another person in the kings court didn’t like her. This person (who I believe was also named Thomas) was trying to stir up some rumours about her having an affair with an ex boyfriend in the process Thomas actually found that she was having a real affair. He told the king and she was soon beheaded. Henry was mad and very embarrassed since but a few days before had a celebration for her and called Katie his “rose without a thorn”. There’s a lot of uncertainty about Katherine’s story but I believe she was raped previous time and do to her being so young and immature she consented to the last affair.
Katherine Parr/Dark Blue/6th- I also don’t know too much about Parr either. Parr was Henry’s final wife and she outlived him. They got married but he didn’t last long. he soon became obese due to medical issues and died. She later got married to Another Thomas who was actually Jane Seymour’s cousin or brother (I can’t remember). During her time with Henry she learned to keep her views to herself
Henry actually was decently attractive at the time until his medical issues become more dominant and he started overeating. Also standards were different then. I hope this was helpful I know more about some queens than others (as you can tell). Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong or add more info. I thought about doing this when you finished the musical but I couldn’t wait. I would also recommend watching the Six bootlegs/slime tutorials because as much as I love the animations it’s a whole different experience and you can see their emotions better. After this is finished if you’re looking for other musicals I would recommend Heathers the Musical, Dear Evan Hansen, or Wicked The Lighting Thief isn’t bad either.

This part is played for comedy, but it *is* true that tragedy comes in different flavors. Most fans agree that Howard should win, but it wasn't necessarily the *king* who ruined her life, ya know?
Edit - you make the point about Aragon getting through five miscarriages and surviving - yes, she did survive those events, but what killed her in the end was heart cancer, so she almost literally died of a broken heart. She definitely carried the trauma with her.
It's kind of funny too because I think Anna of Cleves outlives all of them including Catherine Parr

Hi, going through your videos because they are great. Opinion of mine: I feel like if Katherine (Howard) didn't go off and say like "Oh I had the worst life, I win", the queens would have felt more sympathy towards her. I get that it was a competition and they were trying to win, but I would have made her moment even sadder if she didn't blurt out that she won.
