Try putting Popsicle sticks under the paper that is hovering over the bin, it will make the structure seem more stable so they will trust it. Then... BAM. Hahaha.

the mouse didn't drown, there was just enough water in the bucket to prevent it from jumping out, as you can see, comparing the trash can/counter to the mouse, it is a rather large mouse. My guess is it is a pet which he uses for the videos. Rodents are rather clever and learn from mistakes and their environment, so the more clever they become, the more creative you'll have to get with your traps

I'm researching this because I have a smart rat in my house. He won't eat poison and escaped a conventional trap twice and now won't go near it. Tried coke-a-cola, antifreeze and commercial poisons. I have to try something different.
