As a follower of heavy metal from the 80's and 90's. Iron maiden, Judas, Death, Megadeth... I have to say that discovering this band was like a new beginning. And I discovered thanks to them great bands like: Killswitch Engage. Bullet for my Valentine. Five finger death punch. Trivium.... But they will always have a special place in my heart.
Phil seems like such a chill, down to earth guy... regardless of my views on their music (ive been listening to them on and off since For We Are Many was released) I like Phil as a person
Quick story: went to see Killswitch at the HoB Orlando in 2013 (I think, maybe ‘12) and after an hour of waiting for them to come out, Adam D comes out, apologizes, says Howard can’t make it and that tickets would be honored for anyone that came back the following night. I went back, only to find out that Howard would again not be there, but the band had already knew this (that was he end of Howard in KSE) and Phil flew down from Mass on less than a days notice and did the show and they fucking rocked so hard. I was so glad I went back (it was like an hour drive) and Phil and the boys killed it. Really appreciate Phil and his ethics though. That’s it. Rock on.
I wish that we had got more Phil That Remains than we did, unfortunately something so awesome was bound to be in limited supply. The candle that burns twice as bright also burns twice as fast.
@@Aedalas man, you scared me for a minute there - the way you worded it made me think he passed away and I hadn’t heard about it - I had to immediately google that shit but was happy to see my assumption was wrong. I do agree tho, I wish we had gotten so much more than we did. Much respect to all those guys. I didn’t mention it in my original post but Adam D had no problem saying it the second night that the reason Howard wouldn’t leave his hotel room was because he was paranoid from being on a binge of a substance I won’t name and there in lies the downfall of KSE as we knew it with Howard. And happy, crazy Adam’s demeanor completely changed as you could tell he was straight pissed at having to announce that. So disappointing, I loved KSE, saw them at least 10 times with Howard and a few with Jesse but getting to see them with Phil was probably my favorite because it was a once in a lifetime experience and he absolutely killed it and they played at least a 2 hour set if not more to make up for people having to come back. Adam went through 3 guitars from his sweat affecting the pickups/electronics on the guitar, it was epic.
@@mikehink4062 That whole mess with Howard was just a huge disappointment. First hear them with the original lineup and thought they were okay but honestly never cared much for Jesse. When Howard replaced him I thought it was the greatest thing that ever happened to that band, I was instantly hooked. Then Howard went and fucked it up. The worst part is I can't even blame the band because he did it himself. Sadly I never could get into Jesse's vocals. I wish they had found a third singer when they kicked Howard. He's not bad or anything, it just doesn't click for me and I can fully understand why others like him. No hate, I just liked Howard (and Phil) more.
@@Aedalas I... I couldn’t have said it better myself. Talent wise, Howard was the ONE when it came to KSE, and I preached it to the high heavens to anyone who wasn’t familiar with them or not into them but like you said, he was the cause of his own demise and it’s sad because there was so much talent there. It’s just a shame. They were literally my favorite band throughout those years. And you probably already know this but when they were auditioning singers after Jesse left originally, Phil came in second, losing out to Howard.... Makes you wonder how things would have turned out had the opposite happened. That said, I’ll forever be grateful for my All That Remains though.
Even though Phil didn’t spend much time in the corps I’m still going to call him a marine. He went through boot camp and earned his EGA. Semper fi phil

Hey Phil I did some work at your mom's house I didn't realize it at first until she had told me I think you guys are great I listen to your song two weeks all the time and thunder rolls
Good videos with good artists. It must be awesome work for Loudwire and talk with those people. I don't understand why so little views with so great quality, thanks! Hegde Clippers!
Wow the last bit he talked about being a fan of Nickelback and that he doesn't listen to metal anymore makes everything so much clearer. No hate, do whatever you like Phil.

Speaking of Skrillex, I can’t believe before he became Skrillex he was the singer for post hardcore screamo Emo Metalcore band From First to Last and of course he reunited with the band and we don’t know what his current position is in the band now. But it’s crazy that he went from Emo to Dubstep electronic DJ ing. That’s nuts!
@@MetaLeir93 oh shut the fuck up. That's the stupidest thing people say. They aren't selling out they're just trying something different. Imagine playing the same kind of music constantly for ten years straight you'd get tired of it too.
Wonder if he gets disability? My friend broke his ankle in boot camp, but thought it was just “hurt” so he kept running on it for a week until it became unbearable. In that week, he did so much damage that it was pretty much irreparable, so they got him surgery, sent him home and gave him military disability for life. Not a huge monthly check, but a check he’ll get every month the rest of his life.
Perpetual Doom's demo Sorrows End is one of the best brutal death metal albums ever!!! If the band stayed together I predict they would be better then Shadows Fall & All That Remains. The music would have only gotten better I bet
haha such a weird ending. a metal vocalist saying he doesnt listen to metal, let alone a lot of music, and then saying BMTH is the only new metal band he likes. none of that makes any sense

keep it metal phil ooh rah!
When are they going to do Brent Smith from Shinedown? Or Ben Burnley from Breaking Benjamin?
