EX cards work in the actual tcg game because you actually have to draw the energies. When you get a free energy every turn you're removing randomness. Getting 4 energies required actual deck building skill and super satisfying.
My solution is adding extra point. The game is already short as it is. It's near impossible to comback once misty give energy. The EX can kill your basic baby. The game need to slow down a little bit.
It feels weird to go from 6 to 4 compared to TCG but its probably the best solution that doesn't change game time even though its less cosmetically elegant
Unfortunately, I doubt we'd see a restriction of 1 ex per deck, as that would cause whales to not be inclined to fish for more of them. however , I think 1 ex in play at a time is a good compromise. It would make attacks like Persian's "discard a random card from the opponents hand on heads" all the more devastating if it trashes a ex.
I debunked the whales thing. Any player can hit a single target EX card and if building a very specific deck people just make a new account. Paying for the game also goes down from trading so there is zero monetary impact
Have you seen the Flair mechanic? That’s how you get whales. Have you seen future trading? That’s how you get whales. Have you seen limited events? That’s how you hook whales.
i have a weezing arbok deck no ex, free to play, and i win most of pikachu and starmie matchups + all the mewtwo matchups so its definetly balanced imo🤷♀
I also run a no ex blaine deck with rapidash and ninetails and most of the time I dont have a problem with pikachu or mewtwo decks water it kind of depends but I dont think the game is as unbalanced as people think
Idea to fix Turn 1: Player 1 gets to attach an energy, but can't attack during the first turn. Gives them a slight advantage in setting up bigger moves, but would make it so much more balanced
I've really been enjoying Koga, Weezing and Arbok. Doesn't suffer as hard with going first since Weezing only needs one energy. Really solid against Mewtwo.
As a somewhat new player to card games again in recent years, but used to grind the shit out of Yu-Gi-Oh duel links when it was new many years ago, at first not knowing, I was basically facing the meta all the time, looked it up and then saw I was literally just getting the same 2-3 decks over and over again. it made me feel like back in the day when I finally got the king of games rank but in this, any online match now feels like it bc all players just use cheese decks to win.
I play both the thing is Duel Links power creeps fast and PTCG Pocket came out late in the year we will probably get 2nd set December some time. To fix the game just do what PTCG Live did theme decks list already exist in pocket add a matchmaking for it?
I've been trashing ex pokemon with a deck that doesn't have any ex pokemon in them. Just having a quick pokemon that can deal damage totally wrecks most of the "meta" decks. I've literally beat pikachu decks with a Dugtrio without having any pokemon knocked out.
I think all EX cards should be basic, but you can't pull an EX at the start of a game, and the pokeball item can't pull an EX. Also, they should increase it to 5 points to win, so you can't put out an EX and proceed to knock out your opponent within 1 or 2 turns with not much of a threat to worry about
10:10 As was explain to me by people who had play alot more than me when i start when i gave same proposal of flip 2 attach based on head, In most cases just the one energy is problematic so increasing the probability of getting at least 1 water to 75% would just make her more broken. The best "fix" for her is that she can't target basic pokemon as the majority of the big water types are based around having massive ammounts of energy on them. In the case of lapras they can get their own misty in the form of lorelei later.
While a 75% chance to add one energy sound broken, there are more broken mechanic in the game. Misty is using your one use a turn supporter card. While moltres ex has a 87% chance to add a energy at the cost of one energy and gradivor has a 100% chance to add a energy with no cost after turn 3.
Yeah something needs to be fixed with the coin flip, but not really sure how to balance it. The problem I see with something like Rare Candy is that it just helps Mewtwo decks get Gardevoir if they were bricked otherwise so it wouldn't necessarily help against that deck, but still is a concept I like. I really just dont understand why Misty, Erika, Sabrina, and Giovanni are so versatile, but Koga, Lt Surge, Blaine, and Brock are so forced into specific decks with specific Pokemon with Blaine and Koga being the only usable ones.
I would say turn first can't attack and can't use supporters, but allow the player to attach energy on first turn. That would balance the game a bit more
Great ball summon 1 stage 1 Ultra ball summon 1 stage 2 Master ball summon an ex pokemon Limit the Ex pokemon to 1 card limit change Misty to flip 2 coins works like marowack ex attack change Brock he's basically useless working for only 2 pokemon that hardly anyone uses
I think there should be a mulligan of sorts where you're opponent draws an additional card per mulligan you have at the start of their first turn to punish players who just run 2 basic ex as the core of there deck which they can do since the game automatically starts your hand with a basic which is pretty broken considering the power of some basic ex pokemon. But honestly the going first situation in this game needs some kinda balance since if you go first you basically auto lose unless you get a successful misty or the opponent hard bricks.
If Misty gets nerfed somehow, Moltres EX's Inferno Dance also needs to get the same treatment (it's practically a more sustainable "Misty"). Starmie EX and Pikachu EX should also have a 3-energy requirement to do its attack (like with all other cards that have been released)
I am suprised how nobody talk how overpowered Blastoise EX is. 180 hp combined with 100 damage with 3 energy and 160 damage with 5 energy. With misty you can speedrun it fast to 5 energy and wipe out enemy. Even mewtwo won t one shoot it. Not to mention new Lapras EX. That beast got 140 hp and 80 damage with 3 energy. You can speedrun it at start of game and pressure enemy a lot. Not to mention it can heal 20 hp with each attack making it even more annoying to kill.
Starmie and Pikachu out speed Mewtwo Charizard and Mewtwo are basically just as good as one another with a slight edge to Charizard because Mewtwo can't OHKO Charizard but Charizard can OHKO Mewtwo
the thing is despite Mewtwo overall strength, deck are reall down to alot of luck, i think the deck that i see less of is a Starmie EX deck, many great idea but one ex would just make more Mewtwo builds since he a basic pokmon can can one shot nearly everything in the game
Sure beta players have an advantage, but I'm only 8 days in and can already run Charizard/Arcanine EX or Venusaur/Exeggutor EX over everything, and I haven't paid a penny, lol. I imagine the luck/skill gap will overcome the time gap soon for those who started at launch. Also, I think Magnemite is the next Chancey pick event btw. I was checking my deck lists for cards I needed and a Magnemite with the Chancey icon showed up as being currently unavailable.
For the past couple days I was thinking about how we need more trainer cards. Great ball and full heal would be great items to add to the game and i dont know why they aren't already in the game. I think they could also add super potion and make it to where it heals 40 hp or just buff potion to 30 hp.
You got the points backwards... The ex awards two points when defeated. doesn't add points to whoever plays it. Been playing for a while and the only changes needed are first turn adjustments like the forced basic in starting hand.
So should I feel confident with a niche deck? I get my butt handed to me constantly but I also win a lot too so idk. I do agree on the RnG omg!!! But, for a quick gaming experience it’s fun!
ex changes wont happen for 1 big reason. They want whales to pay for that huge advantage. if you play against friends you can have deck rules in play though.
EX make no difference to earnings. People just reroll accounts until they get their EX cards more than anything. Anyone caring about having every EX card is more collector than player
