  • When Tim Young, Peter Wuerslin and Steven Williams set out from Jackson Hole, Wyoming they had no idea how a dream in 1980 could become reality in 1987. This is the Cliff Notes version of the story how they managed to stay alive, face seemingly insurmountable challenges and travel 45,000 miles completely self-contained for six & one half years before returning home.

A great classic adventure, before GPS, before wi-fi, before satellite phones, in the style of true exploration. Glad to see it out now and available.

Growing up with Tim Young in our little town of Nedrow, NY, we were all very proud of Tim. Always the adventurous type, I have fond memories of skipping many school day mornings to ride through the back roads of South Onondaga in Tim's Mustang. Going to the Blue Hole for a swim, making and climbing through hay-bale forts, and going up Barker Hill Rd. by the geodesic dome as fast as we could and flying through the air with all four wheels off the ground. We also spent two winters in Tim's basement playing ping-pong for hours and hours. Great times.
