বাংলাদেশ অলিম্পিক অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের আয়োজন ও সেনাবাহিনীর সার্বিক সহযোগিতায় জলসিঁড়ি আবাসনে প্রথমবারের মতো অনুষ্ঠিত হলো ম্যারাথন। ২০ হাজারের বেশি আবেদন পড়লেও আয়োজনের সৌন্দর্য বজায় রাখতে অংশ নেয়ার সুযোগ পান পাঁচ হাজর অ্যাথলিট। সুযোগ সুবিধা ও সুন্দর পরিবেশে আয়োজন করায়, আয়োজকদের প্রশংসায় ভাসিয়েছেন অংশগ্রহণকারীরা। আগামীতে আরো বড় পরিসরে এই ম্যারাথন আয়োজনের কথা জানিয়েছেন বিওএ সভাপতি ও সেনাপ্রধান ওয়াকার উজ জামান। বিজয়ীদের মোট ৭২ লাখ ৯০ হাজার টাকা অর্থ পুরস্কার দিয়েছে বিওএ।
The marathon was held for the first time at Jalsiri Housing under the organization of Bangladesh Olympic Association and with the overall support of the army. Although more than 20 thousand applications were received, five thousand athletes got the opportunity to participate to maintain the beauty of the event. The participants praised the organizers for organizing the event in a comfortable environment and facilities. BOA President and Army Chief Waqar Uz Zaman said that this marathon will be organized on a larger scale in the future. BOA gave a total of 72 lakh 90 thousand taka as prizes to the winners.
