It's not Ronnie playing the piano, somebody else wrote and performed the piano for this song. The same person also wrote and performed the piano for im not a vampire revamped. The info isn't hard to find

Ronnie had anger issues as well as drugs in the past. The OG song is more about that anger. The reiminagined is an heartbroken "thank you" to all the fans who sticked with him during all the years.

Motionless In White have these “motion picture” songs where they also take their own stuff and reimagine it. They do all the ones you’ve listened to so far: Eternally Yours, Another Life, and Masterpiece. I would recommend either Another Life or Eternally Yours because whilst their other version of Masterpiece is brilliant, the original is already really soft and melodic.
Rodney is so talented. Yes he plays the piano. Writes his on lyrics. Comes up with the videos. All around talented dude. Oh if see a little girl in his videos that’s his daughter.

ok i couldnt help be laugh at your expression when the heavy part came in at the end haha......this song gives me chills every time i hear it. Just like Disturbs remake/cover of Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound Of Silence.....When you go back to listen to the original, look at the album cover from that album also titled The Drug In Me Is You and see if you can spot a similarity to the album cover and this video. It was awesome that Ronnie did this reimagining in honor of all the fans that have supported him from the beginning but now also gives the song a whole interpretation to listener than the original. Can't wait until you stumble across Nightwish. Their song Ghost Love Score live from Waken 2013 is one of the most reacted to songs ever....excited for that day haha

The piano for this was composed by Sean Rooney, an Irish Composer. Sean is playing on the studio recording at Ronnie's request. However, Ronnie can play it. Reactors that know the piano state that he is actually playing the song in the video. However, you are hearing the studio version.
It is probably like shooting a video of singing. You really sing the song or the video looks fake. You might sing the song umpteen times before you get all the different camera shots you want to put together in the video. If he wasn't actually playing the song, the piano would look fake because his finger movement and position would be different than the notes you are hearing.

That's not Ronnie playing the piano in the recording, but he is a very good pianist and can play the song live. He also plays guitar and drums, but piano is his "best" instrument.

Of course he is playing the piano. He is an authentic musician. And yes, he has turned that song into a thing of true pain and beauty.
Ronnie admitted he wasn't playing the piano in the video and he admitted that he wasn't playing the piano for the song either. He had someone write the piano notes to match the guitar and drums from the original version.

@@mech4byte I can understand that he did not write the piano piece - that is harder than you would think - all that said this was recorded and engineered in a studio so what input he had I can't be sure of - actually I watched a live perfoirmance recently and was quite surprised at how much he relies on hiss guitarists to fill the vocals. Not just backing but at times filling, the main vocal. Got quite a great voice on him too.

That might have been one of the most adorable reactions I've ever seen, lol. The only thing that would have made this better is if you would have watched the original just for contect. These are the same lyrics from the original but obviously done in a completely different way. The original (which I still hope you do) is very pop/punk. Good song. And as I'm sure everyone has said you now have to do "I'm Not a Vampire Revamped" which you do, lol. It's a must. Arguably better than this The Drug In Me is Reimagined, but please, please, please do the original one first. You don't have to, like this video, but it's so much better when you can see the difference and all the little things he's done to it. Even do them both in the same video if you want. You should check out another one that he has redone 10 years apart. The original is called "I'm Not a Vampire" and the remade version is called "I'm Not a Vampire Revamped". You can really see Ronnie's versatility and growth when you watch these songs one after the other. Also, his wife is in the revamped version.
