Most of the yardages in the book are from either distance plates or sprinkler heads. You then need to be able to step off the yardage from there to your ball. This is an older skill that was automatically done before range finder’s.

Exacty I was not comfortable trying to figure out my distances, I need to acquire this skill, little by little

The experience is a lesson by itself. I enjoyed it with you. Golf is such a fluid game, one day you’re crushing the course. Next not so much. I’m resisting the urge to get a GPS or rangefinder. I play five courses in random. It’s a challenge every time. ✌️

Thanks, yes it was quite an experience, I'm still in shock trying to understand everything that happened and trying to implement all the things that I have learnt seeing all these great players

I did the same thing while qualifying for the phoenix open. Pull all your yardages on the practice rounds and play 4 balls during practice round

For me it was very tough trying to calculate the distances, so now I'm trying to get a feeling for what the distance are withtout a range finder. I was also nerve racking...

Competition-play is the fastest way to learn!... about your mental and physical (swing). It's tough, but even tougher without good preparation... good preparation in the practice round is vital.

Definitely right, I've never felt so much pressure and like you said, I felt so unprepared, but I'll hopefully do better next time, it's very tough mentally for sure...
