Sad to see him pass. Once Montreal figured out that he could score goals, he flew. I was lucky enough to meet him once and he was a really caring soul.
So glad you have these amazing old clips xtHabs789, thanks for uploading, see how good they were back in the day, and how small the Goalie gear was compared to now lol.
I was an absolute fanatic follower of the Canadiens (still love them but they just aren't the same these days) and I have often imagined how amazing the 1986 cup would have been had Lafleur been there. Just imagine Robinson, Gainey and Lafleur together for another cup!!! Lafleur could have been a PERFECT right wing on the top line with Bobby Smith and Mats Naslund. That would have been so cool.
В детстве я болел за две команды,, ЦСКА" и,, Монреаль канадиенс".И два любимых хоккеиста, которые остаются для меня самими лучшими и по сей день. Это Валерий Харламов и Ги Лефлер.
Ah yes. Back in the day when players behaved like they’ve been there before when they scored a goal. No need to jump around like lunatics as they do now.
I can see why you would say that because he was a VERY underrated player. But consider this; The Canadiens got Bobby Smith in return and they won a cup in Smith's 3rd year with the team and Napier played 8 more seasons in the NHL and only scored 20+ goals one more time. He was never the same player after the trade. So all in all, I would say it was worth while and Napier did go on to win another cup in Edmonton to add to the won he got with Montreal in '79.
Acton was a fav also -- But like i told Keith at the Bell Center - 'you were awesome but we needed Bobby Smith. ' - nothing like a power forward , Savard was a genius

I grew up watching this , couldn’t get enough . I don’t watch NHL hockey anymore .
NHL and all others are a complete disgrace these days. No one cares about the sport. All about $$$$
My favorite hockeyplayer all cathegories Go Le Démon Blond!

Wow, what creativity. I miss the 80s.

today all players are like programmed robots. Can't tell one from the other.

@@tyson5794 love him.

WHAT A PLAYER WHAT SKILL AND GRACE!! YOU WILL BE MISSED! HOCKEY LOST A STAR!
Guy ,the greatest 🙌
Guy Lafleur was one of the greatest hockey players and The Montreal Canadians hockey team has won the most amount of Standley Cups as of 2024.
merci guy ta vie
Oui c'est Guy
These were the years immediately after the Habs’ four straight cups. They were still good, but not good enough to compete for the cup.
Who's here after he died :(
how would you compare tardif to lafleur talent wise
WoW beau jeu
Goalies back then look like skeltones
Classy Quebec women in fur coats. Today, it would be yoga pants and an oversized Habs jersey.
And today, they would look like zombies.
Who was the nordique goalie? Really bad
Hum who has the most Stanley’s
Montreal Canadians

I really love poutines
Montreal should've never traded Napier.

In Montreal, Napier was regularly playing with Lafleur, Shutt and Acton. That definitely helps anybody’s productivity.

Second one should not have counted they missed the call on him checking from behind
Those were the rules during that era. He didn't "crossed check" the player. He only pushed him.
On dirait du hockey de pee -wee lollllll
Napier was a regular season guy. Horrible in the series.
Omg they're bad. By today's standards
The game was slower, but tougher and harder, it's a different game now
So boring to look.
Then don't look. No one's forcing you to.
Try it with your eyes open.
The game was waymore open then . Ive heard Lafleur described many things - boring was never one of them
