this video was perfect timing for me! After wanting to learn to draw for ages but being too scared too I finally pulled the trigger on buying my first tablet a few hours ago to start drawing digitally! With what you said in the video, it's made me even more motivated to try my best and to stick with learning to draw!
I am the kid at the start i always get compliments with my art and kids telling me how bad they want to be my skill level but i tell them to master the fundamentals of art and they can become like me if they really wanted to or even better couldnt agree more with the video mate
Talent is like people with Good Genetics in bodybuilding. You'll never be Ronnie Coleman or Chris Bumstead without good genetics AND Hard Work, but hard Work beats Talent, when Talent doesn't work hard.
What have you been studying to help you learn these exaggerated posss. Are they from reference, or invented? I want to improve at my dynamic figure drawing, just not sure how to really build up that intuition for foreshortening really well
@@AlexHuneycutt They are both from imagination and utilising references! I actually have some information on my patreon that I think might help you out a lot :)
You don't need talent to be good at drawing but it helps a lot. And even if you work really hard you will never be as good at drawing as a talented person who works as hard as you. Never. Some people are monsters. They also work hard of course yes but some people are really gifted from the start.
That's just not true. I follow a lot of artists that have shared their progress over the years. Plenty of them started at absolute zero with completely terrible skills and are now at a level that most people WISH they could be at. They just dedicated their lives to the craft and put in countless hours to improving. Talent only takes you so far.
@@NahItsLAN what you say does not contradict what I said. You're saying you can surpass a talented person who does not work as much as you if you're not talented. I'm saying you can't surpass someone who is talented if this person is working as much as you and you're not talented. Of course if a talented person doesn’t use her talent and doesn’t work it does not matter if she is talented .
While i agree it doesn't take talent to draw i do also believe that artists have a keen eye for details and they understand the world differently. Artists in a way are freaks that dedicate their life to understand the structure of the universe. And shape it in their ideal. It's honestly the best thing ever when you can imagine something and put it on the page. It takes no talent to draw. However it takes talent to understand and advance in it.
Subscribed. I am a self-taught artist, been so for about 2 years now. I struggle with...EVERYTHING, lol!!! I have no talent you might say, I am simply obsessed. I have books by various artists, like T.B. Choi and Taco Lezhin. My favorite artists are Gustave Dore, H.R. Giger, Zdislaw (I don't know how to spell his name,) Beksinski, Bouguereau, and of course my big sister, she is a professional artist. My goal is to illustrate a Tarzan origin story and then maybe turn that into a short film/fan film.
people come up with different excuses to not do it, in reality talent is more like the dlc stuff it seems like pay to win but it's not and it only helps for example being born with good memory can help you recall all the things you learnt and so drawing and recalling the subject is easier But you still need to learn it in the first place

This.
I don't know why everyone says talent doesn't exist. Everyone's brain is different, certain things click better for certain people.
