You still turning out wood hand line reels ? , if so how do you charge shipping? I had one from your website in cart and entered my info but it didn't auto apply shipping.
Here where I fish in Texas lakes, I only use a 3 foot line and circle hook on my drifting jugs. I catch a tremendous number of Channel and Blue catfish in 30, 40, 50, and even in 60 feet of water. Catfish are not always on the bottom, especially at night.
I actually do quite well with just 4 foot drops and less. They’ll swim up to get the bait. Good to experiment with different depths. I’ll try the 10 to 12 foot deprhs this weekend. Thanks for the tips.
Good to see someone actually using jugs. I see all these pvc noodles calling it jug fishing. If you’re not using a jug it’s technically not jugging, though the concept is the same. The noodles aren’t any better than a Gatorade bottle, milk jug, or oil container at catching fish. They just cost more money and won’t last any longer than a recycled container. I also prefer shorter lines. We’ve tested both ways and they both catch fish, but that shorter line is much easier to deal with when putting them out and pulling them up. I prefer 3-way swivels with our weight on the bottom swivel, even though the weight will rarely hit bottom. Bait is just above the weight with about a 12” leader off the swivel. Also, good to see another Alabama jug fisher. We run on Lay in Shelby. Shoot me a message if you ever want to come try a new spot!
@@BlackWarriorLures thanks, now I know what that specific rig is called 😂😂 Enjoying your videos! Thanks for taking the time to put them together and get ‘em on RUclips for everyone to see.
We are going to try to catch some cats while we crappie fish Thursday. Making up jugs now. You never mentioned weights. For free floating, would you say a 2 oz weight on bottom?
@@BlackWarriorLures A buddy of mine says he puts a few 1/4 egg sinkers in his 2-liter bottles and when he gets a fish on they stand straight up. I might try that! 😉 I mainly Crappie fish. I tried pool noodles and hotdogs at 6 ft a few weeks ago and not one bite!
@@LetsCrappieFish Yeah I've found hot dogs to be a waste of time. I use bluegill, often salted. Chicken gizzards are a #2 bait. Shad or skipjack are far better though.
@@BlackWarriorLures Well I fish a small lake. I’ll just grab some chicken liver and freeze it or try worms. No cast net. I guess I’ll need to catch some bluegill before we head out
What part of Alabama you from. Went jug fishing yesterday in holt lake for the 1st time. Caught 25. Had a few of them get off when retrieving and a lot of them with no baits. Going to get different hooks. Any suggestions
I have challenge for you. It is to make a bush pile and drop it in your nearby lake, then come back in about 3 days and see if you can catch any crappie on it.
O yeah. I fish in 15 ft of water an use 25ft feet of line . An yes we all do it different here to . An I'll take some one with me who brings jugs with 8ft line some time they catch more sometimes I do . Strange I guess I depends on how the water column is that particular day . Good video.

Yeah, most of the people here use three to five feet.
I quit fishing more than 3 or 4 feet deep years ago. Still catching lots of fish.
good tp oknow

Yeah, I've rigged them that way as well. Most ever year I run a slightly different rig. Basically a Paternoster rig.

I'm just learning my kayak, I plan to try this technique on bayou St John here in New Orleans.
It works!

Most of the time I don't use a weight. If I do, it's only a split shot. 2 ounces is too much lead to waste on jugs.
@@BlackWarriorLures Appreciate it.

Yeah, I'm right here in Tusclaoosa. I jug fish Holt Lake all the time.
Well, I use circles hooks, but I sold out of my Catman hooks. Honestly buy you some tuna hooks 10/0. That's about 4/0 size in our terms.
Whisker Seeker triple threat circle hooks in 6/0 and 8/0 size. Cut shad and cur bream for bait.
Thank you very helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
Unfortunately loose float jugs are forbidden in Florida freshwater. We have to use anchor jugs.
Yeah, I wondered if some places have different laws regarding jugs.
I didn't know of any jugs at all in Florida.
Well Done
thx
Here i am thinking im the only guy who measures in fathoms🤣
Yeah, fathoms are so much easier.

That sounds great, but that's illegal on my waters.
Oh okay. Did you get the magnetic tool
holder?
Also have another item coming to you but it is back ordered and will not be there until about 2 weeks from now.
We fish the same place the same way
Yup! It works. Some people keep asking why I fish the same place over and over. It works. It totally works.
@@BlackWarriorLures it really does i also fish yellow creek as well good place for nice shellcracker
