@@thatia2184 Crystalline (also known as Axe) hailed from Northampton (home also of their mates Dark of “Dark Round The Edges” fame) and they were responsible for one of the holy grails of UK heavy-psych: a demo acetate of which only 12 copies were pressed back in 1970. Long tracks full of raw, fuzzed-out guitars - courtesy of Tony Barford - and dreamy female vocals by Vivienne Jones. Four original songs plus a psyched-out cover of Love’s “A House Is Not A Motel”. Impossible to find in its original form, here’s a straight reissue.
My father, Roger Hilliard was in this band and died this year (2023). Tony Barford, guitarist died a few years ago. They both worked together as tradesmen in Northampton when I was growing up, and as a child I never had much of an idea they had been involved with something as cool as this group, at least until the release of the Axe Music record, and even then it's only been the most recent release that does justice to this album. The record is absolutely worth buying as it includes notes which go into the history of the band, the version I have also came with a cd which I listen to in the car. My father rests at a natural burial site where we planted a tree, and a wooden plaque reads "Peace and Love". Thank you so much for uploading this to help keep this music alive.
Finally i get some information about this wonderful underground band. Thank you so much. Maybe you know something about Vivienne? Im very impressed by her vocal.
I can’t stop listening to the the middle song. Here from There just blew my mind. I had to listen again with my headphones and I’m hooked. 🎧 The song starts at 12:00 and then it begins again at 13:00 and just melted my brain away. A little Apocalypse Now mixed with some Indian sitar riff. Very cool!!! 👍
there is music like that today...a nice one is "Speaking of the devil" by the band Acid Moon and Pregnant Sun...from Israel. Their record has a lot of sixties/seventies flavour, please check it out
Corporations and social activists on the war path. Most musicians are not game to be too for out there when recording. Wokies have taken over the industry.
This should be considered the only 'true' version of this music, as it's a straight reissue of the original acetate, with the ones coming with extra titles via Kissing Spell being faked up to lengthen running time.
I am walking in the nature looking to how much is beautiful the green the Grey of the sky. The weather is not cold and The Wind is My friend. I am walking with this musica in My hands. In a Little country of Europe the old continent. Thanks só much

Very nice endings to an era with this band, Countess had a very nice way of taking you through a journey in her voice. So many influences or maybe similarities of other groups you here in them such as the Airplane, HP LoveCraft, Fairport Convention etc. Right after this music surely changed in 1970 but then again even the early 70's you can hear bit and pieces of the past influences of my time in say Dream Boat Annie, or Christine McVie songs. Thank god albums like this are found for those to hear that did not get to experience the times of the 60's as I did, so many other great bands and music happened that did not make a big commercial mark but served its time well. And really that was what it was all about back then. Nice posting Thebestdream I had, thanks for taking me back.

I think so. I found an interview with the guitarist that said they only recorded a few demo tracks. It's a full album in that this is all there is haha
For sure a beautiful voice this lady has got. But at some points she uses her gift to much like in the genre of classic There for, her way of singing seems to me, at some points a bit bloodless. Don't get me wrong! I love for example Linda Laflamme's (or Grace Slick's) voice hard. But she/they had a way of singing that is much more of my taste. Perhaps this female singer forms the high tones in a way, so I can't help it, it feels to me a bit ridiculous. (No dought she has a very clear, high and beautiful voice ) Don't know.😕too beautiful? too clear? the guitar playing is very much what I like. In whole: a very listenable album ☺😄
What about the word "CRYSTALLINE" that is written in all big" (and the biggest) letters, at the highest place of the cover? Neither it got something to do with the name of the group nor the album?😕

Sad to hear that, great band. What is the rest of the band doing now, how about the woman singer?
Great sound. Unique voice. Thank you. God bless you.

Tony Barford RIP, great guitarist and friend
Super sound for 1969,and beautiful voice!🎤👍🎸
What a beautiful record! In parts it reminds me of early Amon Düül (2) ... Ordered a vinyl reissue today ( Guerssen Rec. / 2022 ) ...glad I found it!

FANTASTIC ACID FOLK FROM UK - SUPERB VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***** FIVE STARS
So much great music turned up in the late sixties, why aren´t there such music today ???
There is some similar music today, but hardly known. Look for "Sonic Dawn", "Gin Lady" or "Naxatras" e.g.
There are some modern bands inspired by late 60s, but mostly it's just been done before; trends are constantly changing.
We have become a country of woke morons that don’t know the true from the false much less how to make music.

Extraordinary. That voice is reminiscent of Welsh singer Mary Hopkin.
Exquisite combo of psych/folk and acid guitar
Digging it. Danke. So much psychedelic music back then. I knew a lot, but there was so much more. Here's proof.
WOW that's awesome 👍
A hard to find album on original at least. But worth it to
Pay for this masterpiece 🙏

At 13:00 it sounds like Child Dreams
Great music...but the cover is wrong, it´s from an EP, which was edidet later, isn´t it?

Yes, Northampton, England.
