Hi guys, it was fun to make this trap and i hope you like it as well. More videos to come soon, just need to get my fingers out off my a** and film them, haha. Have a great week. /Andree.
This style trap can also be made larger or smaller, depending on what you're after and if your using it in a narrow stream you can fashion a "funnel" from rocks or branches to help lead the fish into the trap. The American Indians, as well as other peoples globally, used this style trap for millenia with great success. Great video!
I made baskets and fish traps the same way in the 80's when living in the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico. Except I used the bark from the saplings as the ties to hold it together. That way, all the materials come from nature. And in my traps I tied the ends together at the closed end, instead of cutting them off. Great to see others know how to do this primitive way of fishing! :)
north you never fail to surprise me, I have Been watching for a long time and can I say you should be very proud of all your accomplishments and the dedication you give to this channel is phenomenal keep up the good work
You could do all this with a basic knife(I always carry my Leatherman multi-tool on my side), and tough plants. The modern tools speed up the process greatly. Of course, using vines and other natural rope does decrease the re-usability of the trap. So, you would have to do more repairs more frequently.
NorthSurvival you have great videos! As soon as this popped up on my phone notifications I couldn't wait to click on it and watch it. Keep uploading videos! You have awesome videos and they teach us a lot.
What brought me to your channel was your shelter/structure building videos. Perhaps if you made more of those you'd grow? Just a thought... Great videos anyhow
Great video. Your nonverbal style during the construction phase reminds me of Primitive Technology, and it's something I like about his videos. It makes it easier for us to just focus on watching what you're doing without listening to a description at the same time, which is nice since narrated descriptions are often either redundant or distracting. For people talking about his use of premade string and metal pliers and cutters, here's how I look at it: those are things that obviously have more primitive counterparts, but the differences are insubstantial. How much difference would it really make if he used handmade string instead of purchased cord? None, really. Certainly not for the purposes of this video. Would it have been kind of cool? Yes. But what's important here is the trap. That's what we came to see, I think. Stop giving him a hard time about it.
I'm enjoying your videos. Useful info, with video showing the important details and narrated only where needed. Quick, clear, and to the point, keep it up Sir. You're doing well.
I’m really impressed. You did a really nice job building that trap. Nice and clean looking. I was surprised you didn’t use any bait. Because I’ve seen other people put some kind of a big bag inside. But that works fairly well. Keep posting videos you do a nice job
Your videos are wonderful. My family and I have tried many of your videos for ourselves with great success. We are traveling to far northern Canada next month and will be bringing your knowledge. Thanks again xo from Canada
nice but i dont use a ring on the tail end. we just tie the ends together and then untie to dump fish out later so we dont have to cut cordage or make extra ring etc...
Nicely done Andree and it works fine for iff you ever needed to rely on the fish trap in a SHTF situation, carry on the good work, you have a good channel, atb, Paul.
Hey man really enjoyed watching this video and I really liked the format and camera angles. The song and lighting was good aswell. I also liked how you freed the fish at the end.

Great video!
use the guts of your catch as bait next time, and you might get more fish than you know what to do with. works wonderfully.
Fyhj
Excellent idea, works good and pike is good eating whether its a survival situation or everyday situations!

Great to see others know how to do this primitive way of fishing! :)
Great trap and simple too. Thanks. It is so good to see a young strong fellow who knows so much about bush craft. Sweden may survive after all.
Great vedio I appreciate that you let the fish go at the end😀

Cool trap! Looks like it works good!
One of your best videos/creations so far! I love it when you are able to show results :)
That is pretty cool, Andree. Thank you. The Natives around here used traps almost identical to this.
What brought me to your channel was your shelter/structure building videos.
Perhaps if you made more of those you'd grow? Just a thought...
Great videos anyhow
Very nicely built. Love it! I am going to try this sometime.
This video saved my life....BIG THANKS peace ✌️ from Toronto Canada buddy
Enjoy all your videos, great that the swordfish turned out to be a pike.
I also enjoy Joe Robinet's show. Your's and his are appreciated and respected.
am I the only one who would chose north survival to be with me in a apocalypse
same
I'd rather have my team from back in the day, but I'd endorse him all the same.
Me too! I can cook the fish!
I'd probably chose Ray Mears. No disrespect.
nope definitely primitive technology

Thanks a lot for this video. Now i can probably make my own!
Good to through back if not needed! You're a good person in that respect!
Must have taken a long time to make. Like the idea of a re-usable trap that is efficient. Thanks for not killing the fish :)

Great job. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for taking the time to film.

Hey man really enjoyed watching this video and I really liked the format and camera angles. The song and lighting was good aswell. I also liked how you freed the fish at the end.
This is great. Do you know any premitive crawdead traps? Constructing them?
Really nice video!! I miss your cooking videos they are great too
Hello Andre. Thanks a lot for this great video. The performance of your fish trap convinced completely :-D Greets from Switzerland
Felix
Nice one Bud. Was a work of art.
how many swordfish did you catch
thats a pike
Someone didn't read the description.
No it's a whale.
Hi, in a real survival situation what could be good to use as strings? Greets from mexico
some kind of natural fibers like long grass or fibers found in some tree bark
thanks
Even vines. In a forested area there will usually be vines. They are really tough.
Yeah vines sound great, thanks for the tip
Acá en México tenemos mucho henequén, o fibras de otras cactáceas. ;) el punto es que uses el ingenio con lo que tengas a la mano.
Great trap and video my friend. Thank you.
Awesome fish trap
Good job releasing it back in. I subscribed because of that.
We don't need this "Little Guy"...:))...Love this "style of respect"...Thank You ♡
VERY COOL DESIGN THANKS GOD BLESS
thats quite clever indeed. but what kind of stick would bend or have flexibility like this. i would try and make somethink like this.
bamboo
Very tidy job my friend.
Would be great if you caught a swordfish!😃😃 Awesome video
Fantastic trap !! You have a lot of patients 🔫🇺🇸
What did you put in the trap after it was built?
What knots best secure this to each other? Thanks
Cool, will be a little harder to build in the wild without the neat deck vice LOL :)
that background music was cool
Nicely made trap. Noticed over 300,000 views. Good way to trap viewers, too. ;) Thumbs up.
that was cool ..i wouldn't mind trying that
