Just imagine if the god of the Bible were real, it would mean he stayed hidden and silent for 10s of thousands of years while man worshiped a variety of false sky gods. Then, rather late in human history, he decides to show up in a pool over over 200 more false gods in the Canaanite pantheon. Then he decides to branch off and form his own pantheon of gods, with himself as the chief god, and gets a wife Asherah. Then he decides to totally go it on his own, and in a fit of jealous rage, he tries to cancel the other gods, including his wife....and makes a commandment that you can't worship them. Then he has a son who he sends to earth on a mission to unalive himself to save people from his father's creation failures.
To believe in a god is beyond stupid. In fact the stupidity is off the scale. It's just bonkers. I hope i have made myself clear. Please stop the word salad that always seems to fill these discussions.

Here is a comment that is a little different.^
A guy wants to make a book on morality but he is not religious so he compiles a selection of Aesop stories that feature moral lessons. So we are talking about animals living in their natural habitat and engaged in a pantomime of human behavior chatting away, based on real human stories, but in disguise. Since there are no talking animals the author assumes the mature reader will understand the metaphorical nature of the material, although the illusion of talking animals and other improbable behavior is entertaining for the kids (even though some of the animals do bad things like eating each other). Are the stories true? Not literally. Still, some people step up and say, I am without belief in Aesop, and hey, you can't fool me, animals do not talk. Well, that's true, but does that mean they are "not true"?
Now compare his book to the Bible. It too is a book that provides scenarios that purport to teach moral lessons and features metaphorical talking animals and a host of other impossible or improbable events. Both authors assume that the mature reader will understand, at least eventually, that animals do not really talk and that the stories are intended allegory and metaphor mean't to cause thinking about the moral lessons. The Bible also provides an "historical narrative" in metaphorical form. To understand the story, the metaphors have to be deciphered. So is the Bible true? Not literally. It's a religious group's teaching aide, a primer on morality. Neither the Aesop book or the Bible are suggesting anything that is physically impossible or improbable. Those are just metaphors. So for example, Peter did not whip out a literal sword and slice off a man's ear without consequence, rather, he whipped out a metaphorical sword of righteousness (or truth) and, instead of "biting his ear off", a similar metaphor, gave him a strong "piece of his mind", judging the man by the law. In the story, Jesus realized the man was just a servant of the high priest and was himself not responsible, so, even though the man had come to arrest him, Jesus spoke comforting words to him, forgave him, "healed" the ear that Peter had "bloodied".. Get it? Every one of these impossible or improbable stories is like that. A metaphor waiting to be solved reasonably.
This guy whoever he is may not be as irritating as peterson on Christianity but he's equally as vague.

The whole Jesus tale is plagiarism from Horus, possibly even before that, but it's certainly a rip-off from a fable a long time before Jesus was even invented by man!....
They have both made a category mistake. Science and religion are dealing with the same fundamental substance of the universe. They have the same laws which can be derived logically. They complement each other. They claim all come from one source, multiplicity in the material world is an illusion, and this substance is not created or destroyed. Don't get hung up on the mythological explanation and lost the plot.

Not once in human history has relegion ever complimented science or even helped science one bit.
(1) All politicians make false claims. (2) All businesses make false claims. (3) All scientists make false claims. (4) All humans make false claims.

Religion claims to be the infallible word of God. Rational humans don't make that claim about themselves. A scientist can be wrong about something an still be right about other things, and learn with new information. Religion can't really do that.

That is they expect some clergy to do the work for them. And when that priest, rabbi, or minister is wrong . . . the seeker throws up his hands and says . . . SEE ????? I TOLD YOU IT'S ALL BALONEY.
