    I saw them on this tour in Stockholm at the 10,000 seat Ice Stadium. You had to be in a telephone queue to buy tickets outside of Stockholm. I get called up. "The concert on Friday is sold out. There is an extra concert on Saturday". OK, I answer. "That one is also sold out", says the lady. Oh. "There is a second extra concert on Sunday, there are seats available, are you interested?"
    I bought eight tickets and we went as a group. Best concert I have been to. I have seen them five times since though.

    Ian Gillan is still in the band and he is the singer of "Portable Door". Jesus Christ Superstar was only a side project in 1970. He and basist Roger Glover are 78 years old. Ian Gillan is having his 79th birthday next month, and the drummer and keyboarder are not far behind. But they are still amazing on stage and great performers. Only yesterday I saw them in Rome and that was an amazing concert.

    Saw this tour back in the 80s. Awesome show. This song is a religious experience, especially tripping and with the song cranked up loud. Reminds me how awesome my Alpine car stereo sounded. That fade out is amazing and sounds like you're traveling through the Egyptian underworld to the Hall of Final Judgment or a similar journey. What a vibe. BTW, Burning Down the House by Talking Heads has a similar ending and sounds cool with the acoustic guitar.

    Nice reaction Jacqueline, that was the reunion of Richie Blackmore the original guitarist on the Perfect Strangers album that was released in 1984. They released another album after that and Richie Blackmore left the band again. I saw deep purple with there next guitarist Steve Morse.

    Regarding Ian Gillan's time in Deep Purple, first, he is currently the singer in the band and has been for quite awhile now. Deep Purple has had a revolving door of musicians coming and going. In fact, Ian was NOT the original singer. That was Rod Evans, and the band's original bass player was Nick Simper. So Deep Purple version 1 was Evans, Simper, Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Jon Lord (keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums). They had a big hit called Hush. In 1969 the band decided to alter their sound and get heavier. So it was out with Evans and Simper and in came Ian Gillan and Roger Glover (bass). This mach 2 version of the band is considered the classic lineup, and they wrote such gems as Smoke On The Water, Child In Time (a Gillan vocal tour de force), Highway Star, Lazy, Space Truckin', Woman From Tokyo and Rat Bat Blue.
    In 1973, Ian decided to leave the band (over friction with guitarist Blackmore). He was replaced with David Coverdale (of Whitesnake fame), and Roger Glover was kicked out and replaced with Glenn Hughes (bass and vocals). This third version of the band recorded two albums (Burn and Stormbringer) then Ritchie Blackmore left to form Rainbow. Deep Purple decided to continue and replaced Blackmore with guitarist Tommy Bolin. This fourth lineup recorded one album, toured that album and then Deep Purple broke up for the rest of the 70s and early 80s. Tommy Bolin died shortly after of a drug overdose.
    Deep Purple reformed with the classic lineup of Gillan, Glover, Blackmore, Lord and Paice and put out the album Perfect Strangers in 1984 and followed it up a few years later with House Of Blue Light. Gillan then left again and was replaced with Joe Lynn Turner (of Rainbow fame) for one album (Slaves And Masters). Then Gillan returned for the next album, The Battle Rages On. Ritchie Blackmore then left the band for the final time, and Gillan has remained the singer ever since. Steve Morse was brought in to replace Ritchie Blackmore and the band continued. Jon Lord (keyboards) eventually left the band in 2002 and passed in 2012. He was replaced by Don Airey who is a current member. Steve Morse left the band to help his ailing wife (cancer) and was replaced by current guitarist Simon McBride who makes his recording debut with the band on their upcoming album.

    The Unholy Trinity is Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple. Black Sabbath replaced Dio with Ian Gillan for the album Born Again. They do a version of Hush on that album (first Deep Purple hit with first singer before Gillen). THANK YOU JVB!!! I LOVE this song. Haunting vocals!!! I was in Highschool when this hit. This was a reunion of the classic lineup. At the same time Whitesnake album called Slide It In came out. Jon Lord played keyboards for Deep Purple AND Whitesnake sometimes due to David Coverdale also being a former lead singer of Deep Purple. But Perfect Strangers album was one my favorites. Great album. Check out the song Knocking At Your Back Door from the same album. GREAT REACTION as always miss lovely. Keep up the great entertainment! 🍻👏🤟

    Love Deep Purple, so many great musicians. Another band that came out of Deep Purple is the a group called Rainbow. The guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, started up Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Songs like "Stargazer" (Rainbows answer to Led Zeppelin's Kashmir), "Catch the Rainbow", "Man on the Silver Mountain" and "Gates of Babylon" are classics.

    Steve Morse said this was hard to learn because Blackmore played the Riffs in piano parts which was hard to grasp. Please stop the Led Zeppelin comparison. Purple was the Biggest selling band in the World in 1973. Purple influenced the future of Rock much more than Zeppelin. To millions of us we think Deep Purple was better. Like Lars Ulrich said: Deep Purple was just better than everyone else.

  • @kurtsherrick2066
    @kurtsherrick2066 24 дня назад +1

    Please stop the Zeppelin comparison. Deep Purple sounds completely different than Led Zeppelin. Millions of us think Deep Purple was better and different from The Blues Based Zeppelin. Deep Purple In Rock took Hard Rock to a higher Elevation than Zeppelin.
