  • This month marks 10 years since I have moved to China. It has been an incredible time. I would not change any of it. In this video I want to share a few of the things that I like about living here in China. These are just some of the things that I personally like. If you are thinking about moving to China or visiting, this video may be interesting for you.

      I only watch it for a minute,CNN and BBC Say this often.:Chinese people like to eat cat and dog meat.Also eat wild animals,Because of the floods, the Communist Party was incompetent, the streets were full of homeless people, and there were many scammers in tourist areas.

      FYI, I know a lot of Myanmar folks who have never visited the big neighbor up north although they have been to US, Australia, Canada, etc. I suspect they still 'fear' China: like Communist country, unsafe (due to Western smear campaign, ....

    Much easier access to most of the places in China now, compared with 10 years ago. China’s first HSR in 2008, Beijing Olympics…. And 16years on… you cannot imagine how much has changed !

      Yes I agree. Even just in Guangzhou where I am living it’s changed so much since i first moved here back in 2014. As a foreigner I think it’s much more convenient and easier to live here now than it was 10 years ago.

    Those pesky motorcycles and incessant honking is a big downer. Safety and cleanliness is a big plus. Touts, homeless and scammers are almost non existent. People are super helpful and friendly. Smoking is indescribable.

      True. But they need to get around and most couldn't afford cars. Also to ban smoking would create an uproar as to smokers, cigarette smoking is a sort of relaxation. IMHO. At least they ban smoking in restaurants and public transportation.

      Marijuana has been legalized in Canada, and teenagers can buy marijuana. This is terrible. Young people without self-control are prone to committing crimes for the sake of drugs. Therefore, smoking is not a very objectionable behavior in China, as long as you do not smoke in public places.

    Regards from a fellow Canadian..re TTC, it is soooooo bad and constantly breaks down..the open liquor policy is great there ..experienced it in HK and it was great..and cost of living in Canada is ridiculous

    I am a Chinese living in Vancouver Canada for 44 years from rural Guangzhou near the Baiyun International Airport. Yes, it is a good life. Love to go back and visit my relatives in cooler seasons. The summer there is too hot to bear which I don't like. The disadvantage of living in China is there is no old age pension for non perfessional occupations like if you live in western countries.

      Nice to meet. I definitely agree about the summer being too hot. I think I’ve gotten so used to it now though. It’s become normal for me. My daughter and I spend a lot of time at the swimming pool on the weekends.

      @@Naturefilms9738 我父母就是落后省县城个体户做生意的,没交过社保个税,去年每人一次性交9万,现在每月一千多退休金,还会一直涨。这是我知道的最低的了。早几年买断的话只要象征性交两三万,他们错过了。普通工薪工作十五年交社保的情况下退休,县城是拿三四千慢慢涨。县城教职公务员一般是七八千。我公婆是城市公务员退休金是一万多。年轻人不在公司上班的情况可以自己交灵活就业社保,退休后和普通工薪一样领退休金享受医保。

      I’m not sure but it definitely seems true. The metro has been expanding so much within the last 5 years. They are set to open the new line 11 by the end of this year as well

    Unfortunately, White Castle in Shanghai closed last year. 😢. The main Joe’s Pizza closed recently as well, (which leaves only one left). They took a big hit after the mass exodus.

      Yeah definitely. That was something that affected me 10 years ago when I first got here. There were numerous times I was duped with counterfeiting. Don’t have that issue anymore.

      They are totally fine with it. My parents and sister have actually come to Guangzhou twice to visit since I moved here. They are looking forward to coming back again. They really enjoyed it.

    it's basically the cost of living though. if it was just as expensive in china as in canada, no way china beats canada ... that's why so many chinese migrate to america and canada ...

      I think both countries have their pros and cons. But cost of living is a big factor for me. Canada is becoming so expensive for day to day things. Also to be honest I like that in China we don’t need to worry about offending people for using the wrong pronouns or any of that bullshit that happens in North America. My opinion though.

    ok ,I am a chinese living in Guangdong,near Guangzhou,
    Guangzhou City is one of the most developed and modern cities in China .it is true that living in Guangzhou has so many advantages as you said.
    but on the other sides,guangzhou has bad reputation in chinese society for hosting a big group African black expats. don't you think it is a problem? they creat a lot of problem to Guangzhou. many of them are illegally immigrants, cuz the living cost money, but they can't get work permit. some of them went crazy for money and sex committing some Violent crime.... by the way, are you an english teacher in Guangzhou?

      The Chinese government may has also provided you with some things, such as convenient transportation; for example, you can freely go to bars and drink until late at night.

      The pubs here in China can be pricy to but one thing that really helps is that there is no tipping here. Back home in Canada you pay 6-7$ a pint plus tax so it ends up being 8$ or more. Then on top of that you need to tip. Here I can get a pint of carlsberg or asahi for 5-6$ and that’s the final price.
