My heritage is Turkish. I come from a very artistic family & was culturally exposed to good, & pretty good, breathtaking or original dancers regularly... This dancer is exceptional! His athleticism is absolutely flawless, the precision of his body control rivels that of famous Indian Gurus, he is not sync but becomes the music & rhythm all the while when his head is autonomous & judging by his facial expressions, is flirting w/ the audience... that's almost magic 👏 I'm rarely impressed by Belly Dance on this level...but this dancer caused me almost multiple personality disorder just to see each & every piece separate & then their fusion to such a performance I'm afraid I lack the words to describe appropriately. Thank you for such a rare experience of total awe 🌹👏✨
Have studied various forms of dance and so stunned with his abilities ... pushing the potentials of the human body to extremes and yet with such classy easy fun elegance ... simply amazing! And bet he is hoot to hang out with!

You made the remark that Rachid Alexander is FLAWLESS. That remark doesn't do Rachid's performance full justice : flawless refers to one's technique. Rachid also brings a lot of artistry with his homourus expression, playfullnes and the occasionaly naughty wink at the audiance.

I was taught (many years ago) that the real challenge of belly dance was in the control of isolated areas of the body. I have never seen a dancer with this level of proficiency, even in professional troupes. Breathtaking!

This young man transported me and for a moment i forgot I was in the USA midwest and I was a guest of the royal palaces of Thebes and Memphis, he entertained Ramses and enchanted Nefertiti, i went to the courts of the Kedivas and Pashas, visited the tents of the Beys and the oasis of the silk road... unbelievably beautiful and mesmerizing.... There is a male style of belly dance that men do at clubs and parties as social dancing, and isn't often on the stage. This fabulous dancer is doing what is recognizable as the traditional feminine form, but owning it in a way that is absolutely phenomenal and new. Transcendent artistry.

@QTee Yes, thats what i always thought too, i didnt know there were men dancing this before reaching this video. Some scholars say this dance was made for both, females and males, i dont really have my own knowledge about it. For long years i was a king of irritated by the fact that most of female dancers that was seeing were concentrating only on movements (basically shaking) and i was always missing to see a proper choregraphy, something like a nice story, even a light one...but something more than just shaking, it was like an insult brought to the proper bellydance to me. I discovered recently that the choregraphy thing had developed more in this field in the last years (probably last decade), when males got more involved.
This is beautiful. Reminds me of the beautiful dancers of old, who were both men and women, and could dance with such grace that it transcended boundaries and time. Love this.

In the colonial era, female dancers enjoyed greater COMMERCIAL success with white/Euro patrons and thus dominated and continue to dominate belly dance as a paid industry. It was primarily a tribal dance style performed in religious rites as a fertility ritual.

I’ve watched about 40 belly dance videos so far and this one is literally in a league of its own. Other videos with millions of views look amateur compared to Rachid’s dance. I’ll keep watching more videos and will update this comment if I find another dancer that can match this performance.

As a lifelong dancer and award-winning Middle Eastern performer and teacher for 30+ years I can see that this young man has obviously been influenced by our beloved Rashid of San Francisco, who left us more than a decade ago. Rashid and I were both Salimpour-trained and taught with both Jamila and Suhaila. The precise isolations and his posture and especially hand placement are nearly exact replications of Tom/Rashid. Nice work!
Sometimes it is not that they are copying someone else's work, but that culturally [can be taught to them by their Mother or Father or Grandparent] it is passed down through generations. It can be a very special form of dance and sometimes they teach the King's children these forms of dance. Don't know how masculine it is considered in his culture but it sure looks exotic.

It's a shame that society has gone in the direction where men aren't "supposed' to be sensual in this way. Why should this kind of sexy dancing be reserved for women? Look how GOOD he is. He's incredible. This is strong and sexy, it's feminine AND masculine. Maybe one day we'll stop being so hung up on traditional gender roles and just let people live and experience pleasure as they will. Think of all the things that we're being denied because of stupid traditions. I'm glad this guy is out there breaking the mold.

Почитайте историю любого танца, любого народа, у каждого народа движения используемые при танце, повторяют движения используемые в бою. Есть книга старая, времён советов, там очень хорошо описаны танцевальные движения того или иного народа, которые по мере взросления юноши переходят в боевое искусство.

I know this is old, but my goodness, you have to admire the strength, beauty, and control this person has! It does not matter if you are like me and know little about this art form, everyone should be captivated by the movement and expressions this person conveys without a word spoken.
There's few things in this world that can reflect a culture on all of it's aspects more than dance. You can see the strength, elegance, control and finesse of Arabic culture finely blended into a whole greater than the sum of its parts!

For long years i was a king of irritated by the fact that most of female dancers that was seeing were concentrating only on movements (basically shaking) and i was always missing to see a proper choregraphy, something like a nice story, even a light one...but something more than just shaking, it was like an insult brought to the proper bellydance to me. I discovered recently that the choregraphy thing had developed more in this field in the last years (probably last decade), when males got more involved.

There have always been male belly dancers. The female dancers were most popular with European colonials. So there are more of them.
I've been seeing them at greek Restaurants since the 80's. You can usually request ahead of time. Always a treat for birthdays!🤗😆

Этому научиться нельзя ! Это у них на генном уровне передается ! Или умеешь или нет ! Фантастика просто!
И все таки это женский танец, в исполнении мужчины выглядит как клоунада, пародия. Вот если бы он исполнил танец мужчины, воина - это было бы супер, у него прекрасные данные, артистизм.

I’ve watched about 40 belly dance videos so far and this one is literally in a league of its own. Other videos with millions of views look amateur compared to Rachid’s dance. I’ll keep watching more videos and will update this comment if I find another dancer that can match this performance.

As a lifelong dancer and award-winning Middle Eastern performer and teacher for 30+ years I can see that this young man has obviously been influenced by our beloved Rashid of San Francisco, who left us more than a decade ago. Rashid and I were both Salimpour-trained and taught with both Jamila and Suhaila. The precise isolations and his posture and especially hand placement are nearly exact replications of Tom/Rashid. Nice work!

Sometimes it is not that they are copying someone else's work, but that culturally [can be taught to them by their Mother or Father or Grandparent] it is passed down through generations. It can be a very special form of dance and sometimes they teach the King's children these forms of dance. Don't know how masculine it is considered in his culture but it sure looks exotic.

It's a shame that society has gone in the direction where men aren't "supposed' to be sensual in this way. Why should this kind of sexy dancing be reserved for women? Look how GOOD he is. Maybe one day we'll stop being so hung up on traditional gender roles and just let people live and experience pleasure as they will. Почитайте историю любого танца, любого народа, у каждого народа движения используемые при танце, повторяют движения используемые в бою. Есть книга старая, времён советов, там очень хорошо описаны танцевальные движения того или иного народа, которые по мере взросления юноши переходят в боевое искусство.
