      @@Jade-fs9kh since the center glass already shattered she no longer had to remove it, but you need to paint the wood on the inside to have it match everything else. Other wiles you'll have random lines of whatever color the door was before in the center which honestly feels like it would be a cool effect but it's something most people intend to avoid

    I'm pretty sure the storm door is for your protection. From the elements and from people. Now look at the huge glass window to bust and step through. And you just posted it on the internet for an endless amount of people to see.
    It's cute but this isn't the smarted thing you could've done.

    It hurts my heart that you busted up that gold plated glass and completely took it out, it looks boring now. You barely see goldplated glass nowadays, and it is so hard to find yet so elegant and beautiful.

    I like both versions of the door, but the old one had more character.. maybe would have left the glass inside, then swapped the color to brown with golden accents

    The bottom looks really streaky though, it looks like a DIY attempt. I liked it when it was green; taking off the frosted glass lets people look right into the house from outside you have no privacy, that’s why you’re forced to put a huge ugly wreath there now. A red door would have been even better IMO but hey it’s not mine.

    Don’t think your gonna get the effect with just paint. She left out the IMPORTANT part of the door already having the faux wood grain on the surface. If your door doesn’t have it you won’t get the same outcome.

    This only works is the door has faux wooden texture. Now it looks like you can’t afford a storm door. Plus, now you’ve exposed the door and lost insulating properties. 😢

    You can buy inserts for your fiberglass doors. Look on the hinge side of the door and there is probably a sticker that tells the manufacturer of the door and you can just order a new oval insert and side lights.

    There’s already wood grain under the green paint. Please do this on mfd and show us how it looks or give that info up front so people don’t try this on a metal door or something.

      Because it was painted over. You can only have a wood stained look on a door that has been stained not painted.

    I would have preferred keeping the gold paned glass on the inside. I then would have kept the gree. And just used an alternate color (either black, white, or gold leaf) on the raised portions of the door.
    The brown paint looks good from a distance, but it looks plasticy, fake, and cheap up close. IMO.

    Nope looked better before and you need to have the wood textured door in the first place to get that look ..it doesn't magically appear with those 2 colors without that ..

    Why did you paint/stain the trim over sidelines but not the trim over the door?
    The "seaming" of what would be the stiles & rails of the door need work. There would be crisp lines where pieces of wood are joined together. All the artists that have faux painted doors & garage doors for me always tape off the doors and do one "grain" direction at a time so they get more realistic grain effect. I'd also recommend a lighter, more golden base color, with more than one color on top. Real wood has more than two colors. This door doesn't doesnt have enough color variations or grain movement to look like actual wood.

    I love it! It’s a fiberglass door with wood grain right? My garage doors are the same material. I’m getting my house painted next month and I’ll either love it or…they just get painted with the rest of the house.

    If your house has a storm door does that suggest to anyone besides me that maybe there is a reason for that door to have been installed in the first place? I am an Aussie so I dont know. I am also wondering what sort of storm the door would be built to protect from? Am I right in thinking it's something to do with protecting access in case of a tornado? Blessings, Dot

    The original color was much better. Brown is boring as dirt. The glass door also was clean & elegant looking plus it gave protection from the elements.

    Actually fyi you didn't have to do that brown base coat. Gel stain covers well. If your door gets alot of sun I would apply a UV protectant urethane over it or it will start to peel. Ask store for correct urethane because you don't want to use water base.

    Add a piece of molding across the top. To fill in the Gap from the storm door and paint it just as you did.

    The faux wood look is because the door already has a molded plastic fake woodgrain pattern in it that you just painted brown.
