I’ve been using a cut off garden shovel. It works good for keeping coals on the Dutch oven. Fits in the sled nice too.

      Where did you buy that?

Adventures in Camping with Carl Hirner Jr it’s just a good garage sale quality shovel. Then I cut the handle back, so it’s easier to carry or pack.

I'm glad you like it. I'm planning to demonstrate the safe use and handling of the afore mentioned tools next. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Too right about the problems with multi tools. You might expect a few hours service out of them. I suppose the idea might be to gain a few hours...
Friend of mine once said, speaking of tools: if it is made to do one thing, and does it well, it is worth having so long as you need to do that thing. Most of my tools fall into this category.

That's Right Tom. I believe the inherent problem with multitool it that that the more the working parts, the more room for things to break. I saw it in action when someone on a survival show chose a multi purpose shovel for his gear and it failed, leaving him with a broken tool. It crippled his team's efforts.

Welcome. Thanks for Subscribing. So what are you looking for? I make tutorials for the outdoorsmen or teacher mentoring kids. I've worked with the Royal Ranger mentoring program since 1985. It is a camping based group that teaches biblical values. So most of my videos are targeted toward those men teaching the boys. But this information is valuable for anyone. I also have discovered the usefulness of the 2x2 Rokon ATV/UTV. So I have some videos about them. They are a great way to get out into the wilderness or use for vehicle camping.

The cold steel shovel is suppose to be amazing! I’ve seen a lot of videos on them.

I have one on order and a 1984 speznaz special forces shovel, and something similar sold by CH Kadels. I'm gonna run them through the paces. See what I think.

Adventures in Camping with Carl Hirner Jr Nice! I look forward to that video. The cold steel is suppose to be a wicked thrower, chopper, and feather sticker as well as a shovel 😮. I look forward to it!

@@KnifeCrazzzzy I can throw a tomahawk pretty well. Never thought of throwing a shovel. Lol
I like military grade equipment. Most of the shovels I use are military surplus. Since there's so much hoopla about that thing I'm going to see if it worth recommending it to other leaders. I can see from a leaders point of view the sharpened shovel isn't good for youth to use under a certain age.

Adventures in Camping with Carl Hirner Jr I agree with that, this is a dangerous weapon as much as it is a tool.
